Smock suits -Our Stories I have not posted in a while and yet life is happening. I was in an accident that reminded me of giving what I have been giving to the world regardless of my personal insecurities. I present to you “Smock Suits”. What are these you will ask, it’s my attempt to add my voice to the sustainability conversation. These smock suits are made from woven strips into narrow fabrics. These fabrics can be found all over africa in different forms and colors per the region. The entire design draws inspiration from nomadic smocks and the cloth worn as garb over the shoulders by people in parts of West Africa, with variations worn all over the continent. Its sustainable because there is as little as 0-1% textile waste. Sewing and stitching without cutting and throwing is possible because it’s possible. Meet @dj_kessy_jay . He was written off really early because he had a child when he was young. From where we come from, he decided to close out all the noise reinvent himself and now a successfully happy man of a 14 year old daughter and a flipping badass DJ. He represents me and I him. This continent is beautiful and has her own voice. (at Accra, Ghana) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZdtqCXstq0/?utm_medium=tumblr
