According to legend, there was a villager in Pingtan in ancient times who was wronged and imprisoned, but the food sent by his son was eaten by the jailer.  

Later, the villagers suggested that the son use sweet potato flour (locally known as sweet potato flour) to make the skin, wrap it with meat and fish, and send it in a ball. The jailer didn’t eat it. 

The old father in prison finally had a good meal. 

Since then, this dumpling-shaped meatballs unique to Pingtan folks, locally called "Xianshi" have been passed down as a symbol of gratitude and filial piety.
