Thinking about becoming a commercial pilot in India? Here's what nobody tells you about DGCA ground classes.
Most people assume flight hours are the hard part. They're not — it's the four DGCA theory papers: Air Navigation, Meteorology, Air Regulations, and Technical General. These have some of the lowest first-attempt pass rates in Indian aviation training, mostly because people underestimate them or self-study from outdated material.
A few things that help:
Don't treat Meteorology as the "easy" paper — it has the most conceptual traps
Get simulator time early, even before real flight training starts
Pick a ground school where instructors are still actively flying — regulations get revised often
