Aaaand I'm back in debt again. There's this senior guinea pig at work and a customer noticed he had an abscess but bc he's so old the boss said he'll either pay to have him euthanized or I can have him. So obviously I took him. Spend 3 hours in the ER just for them to not have the correct tools to check for an abscess and paid almost 300$ for 14 days of meds. And that just covers antibiotics.

Tomorrow I'll have to call to get a professional evaluation to see if it's worth going through with surgery and if it is that will be another hefty bill.

I also took my hedgehog to the vet today and it turns out he has quill mites (species specific so it won't pass to my pigs luckily) and had to get his medication only to find out it's 2 doses each a month apart so I guess my rehab of him will take a few extra months. Oh well. Such is life when you're spontaneous and refuse to let an animal suffer under your watch

We're being harassed and review bombed at work bc someone bought a bird from us 5 months ago that developed a fatal condition and we didn't refund them or pay their treatment. She threw my managers phone on the ground and started an online campaign saying all of our birds have this disease and we are abusive to all our animals. I've been so stressed lately that I've been cramping almost constantly and it's making me pissy and quick to snap. I've been trying to handle it in a healthy way but today is the last straw. I'm going home and getting super fucking high and eating half of a cookie cake

After almost 4 years, I'm finally out of credit card debt! I never had a crazy amount but I kept making bad decisions and putting it on there so I rarely made progress. But as of today I am at 0!

Someday I'll leave fight or flight mode and write again. Until that day, all of my hobbies will be focused around making things to sell bc I make minimum wage and gas is almost 5$ and I can't even afford an apartment under government assistance bc I don't make 3x the lowest rent for the smallest, shittiest place on the market.

Idk why I try so hard tho, it's not like I can take all my animals with me to an apartment and I'd rather die than surrender my guinea pigs. My aquariums? Maybe. But I need those stinky balls of fluff in my life more than I need food and water. I can afford a therapist anymore and neither can my parents. Instead of going to cheesecake factory and a fancy lunch for mothers day like we have the past 12 years, we are having a taco bar at home and Walmart cheesecake because we literally can't afford fun things anymore despite being a dual income and (used to) be in the upper middle class. Now we have to save up to fix our leaking roof and my parents have canceled some of their own doctors appointments to help contribute to it. We don't get snacks much anymore. No day trips to drive around town bc of gas prices. I guess I've always been spoiled but it's hard watching my family who used to go on a cruise every other year now not even be able to afford things like getting nails done or new football helmets for my brother.

Sorry I just needed to rant to the void once again bc I have no friends and almost everyone in work is in the same boat or worse so there's no use in bitching to them about it. I'll delete this in the morning I'm sure

So today I scrubbed the rat cages. I cleaned out the hamster cage. I dusted and checked expiration dates on the fish food. I cleaned the bird grates. I checked expiration dates on dog and bird treats. I swept the cracks in the concrete. I mopped the entire store. I was also helping customers when I wasn't doing these other activities and got a positive review written about me by name. And 4 minutes until close with no customers in the store, I was scrolling on the store computer (at the front register) . And my boss calls and says what are you doing? And I say scrolling. And she says is that what I pay you to do? And you can't say anything. I can't say I've done all these things because I've gotten in trouble for "talking back" before. So I just say no and sorry. And she says if it happens again they'll take an hour out of my paycheck. So yeah. I've just been pissed all night.

i'm still planning things out, checking with my insurance plan and talking to different surgeons to see how much it's going to cost in total. but the surgery alone tends to be somewhere between 15.000~30.000 BRL (around 3.000~6.000 USD), which is around 10 to 20 months of minimum wage in brazil. 🛌

i've been living alone with my cat since late 2023, and i currently have a job that keeps me away from home for 12 hours a day. I try to do commissions every once in a while, but it's not something i can always rely on given my life condition. but i still want to offer some incentive for whoever CAN and WANTS to support me!
