a/n: This is a repost of a favorite fic of mine - I made some edits and I think it’s definitely better, and I’m glad I took the time to make some changes. Most of the changes are in the 2nd part, but there are some in the 1st part as well. I hope you enjoy this fic if you read it!
Today was going to be a day of relaxation. You had hauled all your beach gear down from your hotel room, carefully arranging it into the perfect set up. With your chair positioned under your umbrella and a soft sea breeze cooling the warm air, everything felt perfect.
However, just as you were opening your book, settled comfortably into your chair, a strong gust of wind blew down the beach, pulling your hat off your head and sending it sailing away. “Hey!” You yelled indignantly, scrambling up to chase after it.
You ran, praying desperately that it wouldn’t land in the water. Your hat angled towards the ocean, the wind intent on forever separating you from your beloved sun hat. You didn’t have the speed to catch it before it reached the water, your loss of hat seemed inevitable.
Fortunately, your hat did not meet a watery fate. With a deft arm movement it was in the hands of a stranger. His back was facing you, so all you could see was what looked to be a leather jacket, but it was gray, dappled with black spots. As he turned towards you, you were greeted by the sight of a handsome man with curly black hair. Your eyes met his and he smiled. His smile seemed warm, but there was a look in his eyes that promised mischief.
“Is this yours?” He asked as you jogged up next to him. You nodded, trying to catch your breath, and he placed it carefully on your head. “You’d better keep a hand on it, the winds around here can get pretty intense.”
You laughed, still a little out of breath, “Yeah, it would certainly seem so. You must come here often to know that.”
The stranger shrugged, a small smile on his face. “I do come around the area now and then.”
“Well,” you said, your hand on the brim of your hat to keep it from blowing away again, “thank you for saving my hat, I would’ve been sad to see it lost in the waves.”
“It was no problem, I was happy to help such a lovely person in distress.” While normally a comment like that might lead to an eye roll from you, there was something about the way he said it that made it seem like a joke, and you were beginning to realize that the twinkle in his eyes was very alluring.
“I’m Dawon,” he said as he stuck his hand out, “it’s nice to meet you, and save your hat of course.” As you shook his hand you told him your name. He repeated it, his lips curving up into another wonderful smile as he spoke it.
Dawon’s presence was like a wave crashing all around you as he kissed you softly
I- Tabi, you made my heart grow about ten sizes and then split into two. I’ve always been loved the ocean, and he’s everything I love about it personified; calm, playful, sparkling and so so comforting.

a/n: I’m back! It’s been a while, but I’m trying to write again so here I am!
This was just something I wrote to try something different, and I thought it wouldn’t hurt to post it. Sorry if the gendering turns anyone off, it was really tricky to write it without it, and I’m just sharing something I wrote for myself so it is what it is. I could write a versions with different gendering but only if enough people ask, like I said I wrote it for myself. Regardless, I hope you enjoy!

The man in front of you listened quietly, his eyes stayed firmly on you, making you squirm a little under the intensity of his gaze. On one hand, having someone this handsome that you were barely acquainted with looking at you in that way was flattering, but on the other hand, it wasn’t exactly comfortable. What had started off as a casual greeting had turned into an impromptu vent session when he had prodded for more details, inviting you to tell him how you were really feeling.
You shifted from foot to foot as you finished explaining to him the reason for your dour expression. “Sometimes I just wish I could have a little more recognition, for someone to tell me that I’m doing a good job, that I’m doing well. But it’s hard to just ask for that.”
“That’s very understandable,” he said, his head cocked slightly to the side, “that’s something everyone wants, and it can be quite difficult to get it. But I’m sure you’ll find it. Maybe I can even help…” There was a question in his eyes, one you didn’t think you had the answer to. You swallowed, an unconscious reaction to the way he was staring at you.
While you had always found him attractive, there was something more to him now that you couldn’t put your finger on, but it made you both intrigued and a little nervous. He seemed to be considering something, although you weren’t sure exactly where his line of thought was going.
Taking a step back you broke the tension that had been crackling between the two of you. “Thank you for listening, I appreciate you taking the time to hear me out.”
As you started to move away he made up his mind and stepped close to you, whispering into your ear, "Good girl." Looking up at him with eyes widened, your mouth hanging open, you had no words left. Your cheeks were warm, all your attention on him. Those two little words bounced around in your brain as he closed your mouth with a finger, a finger that slid up to your temple, brushing some loose strands of hair behind your ear. "Oh dear," he said quietly, the purr in his tone had you hanging on every word he spoke. "That wasn't quite what I was expecting but I'll certainly remember that reaction of yours."
“Oh?” You asked, your voice quavering far more than you wish it was, you were still regaining your senses. He had stirred something in you that you hadn’t known was there before. It wasn’t an unpleasant feeling by any means but it was… Different.
Chuckling he replied, “Yes, I knew we were getting along well but this is certainly a pleasant discovery." He stroked your hair, his soft touch contrasting his strong demeanor but it felt so right. You leaned into his touch and he responded by lacing his fingers into your hair. You closed your eyes, savoring the moment. Far too soon he started to move his hand away, but before you could think you had grabbed it, keeping his fingers tangled in your hair.
With a hum he tapped your fingers wrapped tightly around his. "Physically you seem to be enjoying my attention, but if you want anymore from me I need to hear you say it. Let me look into your eyes, and tell me what you want, darling."
"I-" your words weren't coming out evenly, your mind still reeling from what he had said and done so far, and while the promise of more made you want to speak, it also constricted your thoughts like a python wrapped tight around its prey. That “darling” didn’t help either, and you had the suspicion he knew exactly what he was doing. As you tried to come up with any sort of intelligible words your hand slipped away from his.
While you were still struggling to form a complete sentence in your head, much less out loud, he took a strand of your hair in his hand and brought it towards his face. All thoughts left your head as you watched him, captivated by his actions, despite being unsure of exactly what he was doing. After what seemed like an eternity of waiting and watching, the man in front of you brought your hair up to his lip and kissed it tenderly. With his eyes still on you, a deep stare that kept you focused on him, he whispered, “All you have to do is say please.”
Letting your stand of hair fall from his hand and back to its original location he gave you an expectant look, waiting for you to get your words together. “Please,” was all you could get out, your eyes full of desperation for more.
“Hmm,” he considered, “maybe next time, if you continue to be a good girl.” He started to leave, but turned back to look at you one last time, appreciating the look of shock in your eyes. The smirk he sent your way as he turned around was made all the more debilitating from the weakness you already had for his striking eyes, and then he was out of arm's reach, taking that crackle in the air with him.
As the tingles faded from your limbs you wobbled, sinking down into a nearby chair. By the time you had recovered and were on your feet he was completely gone. What had just happened? Your short-circuiting brain had no answers.

“I’m Dawon,” he said as he stuck his hand out, “it’s nice to meet you, and save your hat of course.” As you shook his hand you told him your name. He repeated it, his lips curving up into another wonderful smile as he spoke it.
As your hand fell back down to your side you added, “It’s nice to meet you too, I haven’t seen many people around here, it’s nice to find someone to chat with.”
His smile widened, “You’re right, about there not being many people around. It’s a pleasant surprise for me to meet such a pleasant person here on the beach.” You looked down, not sure how to take his words, but he simply continued to talk. “So what brings you here? I don’t think I’ve seen you around before. If you don’t mind me asking of course.”
“It’s fine, I don’t mind saying,” you said with a shrug, “I wanted to have some time to get away from my usual life and I decided that this was the place to do it. How about you?”
Dawon shrugged his shoulders, just like you had moments before. “I enjoy coming here every now and then, it’s easy to get to and a peaceful place to think.”
“Oh, I see!” You said with a nod. “It does seem like a good place for some peace, at least for me, the sounds of the beach, especially the waves, are very relaxing.”
Although you weren’t exactly sure why, this statement seemed to please Dawon, as his face lit up with a bright smile. “I’m glad you think so, it’s nice to find someone who feels like I do about the beach.”
“It sounds like you really enjoy the beach.” You commented.
With a laugh he said, “Yeah you could say that, but I like the ocean even more.”
You raised an eyebrow, intrigued by his statement. “What do you mean?”
“Without the ocean, I couldn’t enjoy the beach the way I do. It’s the crash of the waves, the smell of the salt in the air, the feel of the cool water on my feet that makes me enjoy the beach, and all of that comes from the ocean.” As Dawon explained he looked out towards the ocean, a far off look in his eyes.
But like flipping a switch his focus was back on you, a twinkle in his eyes. “Hey, want me to teach you to skip stones so well it looks like magic?”
Your eyes lit up with interest and you nodded. “Yeah, that’d be great! I’ve never had a chance to learn how to, and looking like magic sounds pretty cool.”
As it turned out, Dawon was a good teacher, and you picked up stone skipping quickly. Soon you were skipping stones eight or nine times before they sunk below the waves. He was even better though, with one particularly well shaped rock he was able to skip it fifteen times. There was something magical in the way he skipped the rocks, the way they skimmed perfectly over the waves.
After you’d both had your fill of rock skipping, the two of you took a break in the shade of your beach umbrella. As you settled onto your blanket, Dawon doing the same, you turned to him. “Aren’t you hot wearing a jacket like that in the summer?” You asked with a curious tilt of your head.
“No, this jacket is like a second skin to me, I’d feel odd without it.” He smirked as if something in what he had said was amusing. “But that doesn’t matter, let’s talk about how great a teacher I am when it comes to rock skipping.”
You laughed lightly, nodding your head in agreement. “Yeah, you are pretty great.”
“Pretty great?” He huffed, “that’s it?” Dawon looked at you with a pout, but you could see that joking sparkle in his eyes that you were quickly growing very fond of.
Tapping your chin you pretended to think. “Hmm, I suppose I could say you did excellent. Would that be good enough to satisfy Mr. High Maintenance?”
The look of mock indignation on his face made you double over with laughter. “I’ll have you know I am not high maintenance. Stop laughing, it’s true.” But you couldn’t stop laughing, even as he continued, “In fact, I might even say I’m low maintenance.” This statement was given a snort in response and the frown on his face only made you laugh more because of the smiling eyes that went with it.
With you laughing the way you were, he couldn’t keep up his act and soon he was laughing just as much as you were. His laugh, his smile, his eyes directed at you, your heart almost couldn’t take it. The wind blowing your hat to him had truly been a blessing.
Over the next few days you got to know Dawon better, but there was always a part of him that felt so distant. However, you grew to love the parts of him he let you see, especially his teasing and silliness. The two of you grew close, and it felt so natural that when he asked if he could hold your hand you agreed without hesitation.
There was something about him that just felt right, and you wished your time with him could last forever. As you walked down the beach, your hand in his, a question occurred to you. “Is Dawon really your name?”
“No.” He responded with sparkling eyes and a mischievous smile. “You like asking questions, don’t you?”
You shrugged. “Not always, but you’re a mystery to me, and I want to know more about you.”
The sincerity in your words seemed to shock your curly haired companion. He stopped and turned to you, a look you couldn’t describe in his eyes. “You’re quite the person, you know.”
“As it happens, I do know,” you said with a giggle.
“Good. It would be a shame if you didn’t know, you truly are something special.” He bumped his shoulder against yours as he smiled down at you. This smile had more warmth than any you’d seen before, and despite all his teasing it felt like he truly meant what he said this time.
Without even noticing the two of you had paused. As you gazed up at Dawon, you became lost in the depth of his eyes, the dark browns swirling around his pupils tugging at your heart. There was a warmth in his eyes, and beneath all the mischief you knew there was sincerity. But there was also something else in his eyes that you couldn’t put a name to.
“Hey,” he said quietly, letting go of your hands as he reached out to brush your windswept hair out of your face, “can I kiss you?” There was no longer any mischief in his eyes, and the warmth was being overtaken by an intensity that made it hard for you to breathe.
Caught up in his eyes all you could do was nod, your whole body filling with warmth as he leaned towards you, one hand gently lifting your chin as his lips met yours. He tasted like the sea in a way that was strange and yet enticing. As his soft lips brushed against yours your whole body felt alive.
You found yourself clutching the front of his shirt for support. It felt like you were being overwhelmed, Dawon’s presence was like a wave crashing all around you as he kissed you softly. And then, it was over. He pulled away from you, his hand dropping to his side and your hands let go of his shirt.
The two of you simply stood there, staring at each other with wide eyes, unable to say a word. He regained his composure first and with a laugh he said, “Wow,” which summed up your feelings as well. All you could do was nod, your mouth hanging open.
You felt his fingers on your chin as Dawon closed your mouth, a smirk now on his face. A shiver went down your spine as his fingers brushed against your chin as he pulled them away. Your eyes were still wide as you tried to manage coherent thought, but you weren’t able to.
“No questions for me now, huh?” He asked jokingly. “Maybe I should kiss you more often then.”
Spluttering indignantly you were finally able to speak again. “Hey!”
Dawon laughed as he leaned forward and kissed your forehead. “I’m kidding, sweetheart. You know I love your questions.”
You huffed and turned away, but when his hand reached out for yours, you let him take it. Turning around you were faced with a warm smile from him, his eyes soft as he gazed at you. You smiled back, giving his hand a squeeze and the two of you continued your walk down the beach.
Seven Years Later
Shaking off the sea water that still clung to his hair after the transformation, Sanghyuk made his way up the beach that had become etched into his mind. The years had passed so achingly slow, but finally he was back.
If he had known the way the tides of oceans and the magic in his veins would prevent him from stepping on these sands until now, would he have gotten close to the person he had met all those years ago? Yes, without a second thought. Over the years he had treasured his memories with them like precious pearls.
He knew it was a long shot to even try and find them again, but there was a small part of him that held onto hope. Even though Sanghyuk never had the courage to tell them, he had truly loved them. He had loved their beautiful eyes, their curiosity, the softness of their features when they were surprised, and more than anything, the way they made him feel at home.
The idea of feeling at home out of the ocean had both excited and scared him, but he had embraced the feeling, enjoying every moment with the person that had captured his heart. However, Sanghyuk was pulled out of his thoughts by the sound of laughter further down the beach.
Turning his head towards the sound his heart lurched as another person laughed, and this laughter sounded like a distant dream. As he spotted the source of the laughter his heart stopped, and he felt like he was being stabbed in the heart.
Although the two people coming down the beach were too far to see clearly, his aching heart led him to believe that one of them was the person he had longed to see for so long. They were holding hands. His breath shortened as he began to notice more details the closer they came. The look in their eyes, the closeness, everything about the pair walking down the beach he noticed came with a stabbing pain in his heart.
Caught up in the hurt he barely managed to hide behind an outcropping of rocks as they got closer, too close, close enough they might have seen him. He knew it would be completely unfair to expect that person to wait for him, and it still wasn’t clear what their exact relationship was, but none of that could stop the pain and loss crashing down on, all reason like sand trying to stop a tidal wave.
He glanced towards the water, the pull to throw himself into the ocean and lose himself in the waves calling to him, but the aching to know and the fact that they might see him caused to stay still, immobilized by all the thoughts and emotions racing through him.
As he waited for the pair to pass he heard a voice he wasn’t sure he’d ever hear again. “Did you see that? I could have sworn I saw a person right here.”
They were right on the other side of the rocks. So close. And yet, it was like they were on the other side of the ocean from him.
The person they were with responded and Sanghyuk could hear the affection in their voice, even as they answered such a simple question. “No, I didn’t see anything. Are you sure it wasn’t the light off the water playing tricks on your eyes?”
“I thought… For a moment… Are you sure?” There was something both hopeful yet sad in their voice, many complex emotions just in the voice, he thought he might cry if he saw their face at this moment.
“Still looking for your mystery man, even when I’m standing right here?” While their voice was playful, there was an edge to it that made Sanghyuk tense up.
There was a sigh, a lovely sigh, and then, “You know I’m over Dawon,” his heart stopped, his breath stopped, everything stopped as he heard the name he had given to her all those years ago, “I can’t help but look for him, for closure. I never found out what happened to him, but you know my heart belongs to you. I may have had feelings for him at one point, but it’s been seven years, and I can’t imagine my life without you.”
There it was, what he had been dreading since they had started talking in front of his hiding spot, one he was regretting the more he heard, but it was even worse than he had thought. While he had always wished for their happiness, a part of him had held onto the hope that their happiness might be with him, no matter how unrealistic that might be.
They sounded happy, they had someone, and it wasn’t him. His heart shattered to dust as the couple continued walking down the beach, their conversation becoming faint. Crumpling to the group there was nothing left in him but tears, he was empty, a void in humanoid form.
Coming back had been a mistake, his desire to know a curse destroying him from the inside out. Would he have been better off not knowing they were happy but with someone? Did the reassurance outweigh his grief? Maybe it would in time, but in that moment all he felt was despair.
Finally able to stand he made his way back towards the ocean. He waded in until the water was up to his knees, standing in front of a drop off. Closing his eyes he sighed and let his body fall into the ocean, the embrace of the cold salt water welcoming him into its depth. As his body sank beneath the wave his skin began to ripple and he was surrounded by bubbles.
Soon in the place of the man with curly hair was a seal, its gray body dappled with black. Although he was in the ocean where he felt most at home, a part of him was forever lost to the beach, to that person he had longed for all those years. In the pieces of his heart, still shattered beyond repair, he knew he could never leave the sea again.
you meet Taeyang in the flower shop once again, but this time you walk away with more than flowers
Word count: 1887
a/n: Another year, another florist fic to celebrate the birthday of my favorite guy, Taeyang! I would give him all the forehead kisses in the world~!
All flower information is from Wikipedia from a year or two ago, so if it doesn’t seem quite accurate, that’s why.
Enjoying a quiet afternoon with your favorite florist had become one of your favorite things in the whole world. Whether the two of you were just sitting in the back while Taeyang waited for customers or a phone call, talking about your day, or listening to him tell you about flowers, it was always nice.
There was something about his presence that made you feel calm, you could be at ease and just exist when you were with him. Although, sometimes the calmness was replaced with butterflies you weren’t quite ready to name.
Today was a flower talk day, you wanted to forget your worries and listen to Taeyang talk about something he was passionate about, and he was happy to share his interest in flowers with you.
“Besides your favorites, what are some other kinds of flowers you like talking about?” Having seen how knowledgeable he was you were excited to see what he might tell you about. That and you whether or not you were ready to admit it, you really did love his smile when he was excited.
“Orchids are really interesting! There’s a lot of different varieties out there, and there are so many colors you can find them in, and some have freckles and some are multi-colored! Although they can be a difficult flower to take care of, they really are beautiful and fascinating. Like these ones here,” he pointed to a group of delicate looking flowers with long stalks, “the big white ones with the purple spots are Cattleya Orchids and they can come in a lot of different colors and patterns.”
As he continued he kept pointing at the flowers he was talking about, filled with excitement at the chance to tell someone about flowers in detail. “These small ones are called Cymbidium Orchids, more commonly known as Boat Orchids. They’re often considered to be beginner orchids. And the different colors have different names. For example-” he pointed at a small yellow and red orchid “-this coloring is called Showoff.”
Gesturing to similar orchids of different colors he told you each ones name. “This green one is called a Chica, and the bright pink one next to it is a Frae. The dark pink is called Best Pink, which is a bold claim but it is a really nice shade of pink.”
“And here’s some Encyclia Orchids!” He said as he continued to walk and point. “You can tell this variety apart because there’s one upright petal at the top while the other petals are very long and narrow, they also hang down.” Just as he said, the next orchid he pointed at did have a rather distinct petal arrangement. “Oftentimes the upright petal is a different color from the hanging petals, giving it a rather interesting appearance.”
You nodded, taking in all this information. It was almost too much at once, but Taeyang was so excited to share his knowledge and passion of flowers with you that you kept trying your best to follow along.
Taeyang moved on to further down the aisle where the orchids were kept, pausing when he had found another variety to point out to you. Looking over at you he beamed, “Look, here’s another really interesting one!”
You moved closer, but couldn’t find anything that stood out to you about these next orchids, other than the fact that they reminded you of another flower. Seeing the confusion in your eyes he moved closer, so he could point out the details you were missing.
“These ones are interesting because they look a lot like pansies! But they’re definitely orchids. See the freckling on this one?” He pointed at an orchid in front of you that had white speckles on its lower petals. “Freckling like that is much more common in orchids. Plus, the two bloom in different seasons, so that makes it even easier to tell them apart!”
He turned to you, smiling with so much passion. It made you so happy to see him like this, open and sharing the things he loves. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could be a reason for him to smile like that? A voice whispered in your head. Startled by the thought you blinked, and Taeyang noticed that you had stopped listening.
“I’m sorry! Did I say too much? I know that was a lot at once, but it’s so hard to stop once I start. I’m sorry if I overwhelmed you…” He trailed off, looking down at his shoes, the fringe of his hair hung down, blocking you from his face.
“No!” You said quickly, putting a hand on his arm to comfort him. “You’re fine! Really! I just got distracted.”
Looking back up his eyes met yours. He still seemed unsure, and there was a flush of embarrassment in his cheeks. “Are you sure?”
“Absolutely.” You nodded and squeezed his arm before dropping your arm back to your side.
“Well, then thank you for listening.” His smile was restrained, but it was slowly warming back up to the smile you cherished so much.
Nodding again you said, “Of course!’
There was a lull in the conversation after this, both of you wanting to say more but uncertain if you could correctly express your feelings. You had started to look away, your eyes wandering as your mind ran in a million different directions, when you were called back to reality by Taeyang saying your name.
“Yes?” You asked, turning to look at him.
“There’s something I want to talk to you about. I don’t know if it will come out right, but I feel like I need to say it.”
Tilting your head to the side you focused on his face and waited for him to speak, taking note of your surroundings as you waited. With the smell of flowers all around you and the soft lights glittering overhead you weren’t sure if you were still in the real world, despite having just been brought back out of your thoughts and into reality moments ago. This feeling enveloping you in a dream like quality only grew stronger as you looked into Taeyang’s eyes.
His eyes, such a beautiful deep brown that they took your breath away, were looking into your eyes with such a soft and loving look that your heart melted. With him looking at you like that all you could do was stare back, unable to move or speak or do anything besides breathe, you were so captured by his eyes.
He smiled at you, and the corners of his eyes shifted up, his smile brightening up his whole face. You felt for a moment like you had never truly seen beauty until that moment, his handsome features and warm smile all you could think about. Your body filled with the warmth from his smile, and you couldn’t help but smile in return. His face was one of the most beautiful you had ever seen, from his gorgeous eyes to his cute little mole, and it was made even more beautiful when he smiled, and this felt even more true when he smiled directly at you.
But then, before you had time to process what he was doing, he leaned closer, whispering to you in his voice that you loved to hear so much, “If you let me, I would kiss you everyday for as long as I can. You are so, so special to me, and I want to show that to you in every way that I can. Would you go out with me?”
Your breath came out quickly, but your words took longer to come out, trying to catch up with your heart, Taeyang’s words and his close proximity making it hard to think. “Well, I mean, um.” With huge eyes you looked up into his eyes once again as he stared back at you, waiting for your response, anxious to hear what you would say to him.
When he had said that he hadn’t been thinking, his feelings coming out before he could decide if this was really the best time to tell you how he felt, but as you struggled to respond all his worries began to pile into his head, his heart on the line as he tried to wait patiently for your response.
Unable to both look into his beautiful eyes and talk at the same time you looked down, and speaking just loud enough for him to hear you said, “I, I feel the same, about you. I’ve never felt this way about someone before, you mean more to me than I know how to say. So, yes. Yes, I’ll go out with you.”
Looking up you saw him smiling at you, the love he had for you practically radiating off him, he was so full of warmth towards you. This was also mixed with relief and joy, his heart singing at your words. Not quite meeting his eyes you added, “If you wanted to, you could start that kissing me everyday thing right now.”
With a soft and slightly flustered chuckle, all his emotions having overwhelmed him in a flurry of thoughts over the past few minutes he said, “That sounds like a good idea.”
And with that he leaned even closer, his arms circling around your waist as you put your arms on his shoulders and his lips met yours.
It was like nothing you’d ever experienced before, his lips soft against yours as he kissed you with all the love he had expressed through his words. He was so gentle and yet also so full of passion, a combination that had you melting, his arms the only things keeping you upright.
As you kissed each other you felt his lips curve up slightly, a smile blossoming on his face even as his lips were still pressed against yours. As he pulled away, the smile that you had felt on your lips was now visible on his face, a smile as brilliant as the sun.
He moved his head away from yours, just enough to give you both space to breathe, his arms still around your waist. As your breathing slowed, he placed his forehead against yours, his eyes closing as he murmured, “Thank you, for feeling the same way for me as I feel for you.” His smile had softened from its full warmth to one that was more gentle but so full of contentment that it warmed your heart just as much as any smile of his you had ever seen.
“Of course,” you replied, closing your eyes as well, taking in the feeling of his arms around you and the sweet earthy scent that came from him being a florist. Your voice was quiet and gentle as you added, “It would be hard not to fall for someone as wonderful as you.”
Chuckling quietly he said, “The same could be said for you. No one is so willing and interested in what I’m passionate about as you are, you care so much and I can’t believe how lucky I am that you care about me. I feel so content around you, sometimes it’s so hard when you leave, but I know you’ll be back.”
“I’ll always come back.” You promised with smile, “Especially now that you’ll be kissing me every day.”

you meet a certain someone once again, but not where you’ve met him before
Word count: 1201
a/n: Okay so. This was going to be posted on Taeyang’s birthday, like I’ve done in past years. But I got super sick and forgot to schedule this to post. And I have finals coming up. So I ended up being... Very late with this. But I thought I’d leave the note that was going to go with it. I hope if you read this that you enjoy it!
Today is the birthday of a beautiful ray of sunshine so I am here with another florist!Taeyang fic! This series is definitely a slow burn, but I enjoy writing it a lot and I’m excited to keep sharing it with you all! I hope you enjoy this latest installment and please send Taeyang lots of birthday wishes!
Sometimes all you needed was a day in a cafe with a good book, and today was one of those days. Your week had gone on for an eternity, but as you snuggled comfortably into your favorite chair you felt your worries begin to melt away, and as you started your book the world around you faded away, leaving nothing in your mind but the story on the pages in front of you.
Half way through your book, just as you were getting to the best part and were completely engrossed in the world painted with words, someone tapped your shoulder. You were ready to be prickly, annoyed at the interruption, but once you realized who had gotten your attention all your irritation faded away.
Taeyang. The florist whose smile lit up the space around him like the sun was standing next to you, a friendly smile on his handsome face. You smiled back, and his smile brightened. “Hey,” he said, “I didn’t think I’d run into you today, but when I saw you I really wanted to come say hi.”
“Hi,” you said, “it’s nice to see you!”
There was a moment of silence as the two of you smiled at each other, neither quite sure what to do next. There was a nervousness in his eyes, although you were too busy with your own thoughts of what to say to notice. Taking the initiative, you gestured to the chair next to yours. “Would you like to sit down?”
“Sure!” He said cheerfully, sitting down quickly. While he was sitting, he wasn’t relaxing back into the chair as you were doing know but sat near the edge, his body turned towards you, a friendly smile still on his face, but also a tenseness in his shoulders. With the amount of attention he was giving you it felt only right to return it so you sat up and placed your book to the side.
“So what brings you here? Are you getting something to go or are you planning on staying a bit?” You hoped he would say he was staying, this was the first chance you’d had to see him outside the flower shop he worked at.
“Well,” he said, “I was just going to grab something since I was passing by, and get to work early, but with you here, I think I might stay around for a little. If that’s okay with you of course!” He added, a little bit of worry slipping into his voice, “if you’d rather go back to your book I would understand.”
“No,” you said quickly, cutting off anything else Taeyang might have said. “I mean, sorry,” you stumbled over your words, a wave of awkwardness rolling over you. “You can stay if you’d like. It’d be nice to talk to you, I can read my book later.”
At first he’d been surprised by your interruption, but his surprise quickly turned into happiness. The smile on his face was even brighter than the ones you had seen before, and it eased the awkwardness you were still feeling.
Soon the two of you were chatting away like old friends, having more in common than you would have thought. Talking with him felt comfortable and natural, more so than you would have thought possible for someone who you had met recently. Both of you slowly relaxed, and the tension you had both been feeling was completely gone.
Talking with him like this you began to notice little things about him you hadn’t before. He had a small mole under his left eye, too small to be seen from a distance, but you could see it clearly sitting next to him. You had never really thought about moles much, but there was something charming about his, but maybe that was because you thought he was charming in general.
You could also see the way his eyes lit up when he got excited. It wasn’t just his smile that showed his enthusiasm and cheeriness, but his eyes sparkled when he started talking about something he was passionate about. The dark brown depths of eyes, despite staying that dark unchanging brown, seemed to almost glow, a perfect match for his smile.
As time went on, Taeyang started to check his phone more often. You tensed, worrying as to what this might mean, but he quickly reassured you that he was just keeping an eye on the time before his shift at the flower shop started.
The two of you had been talking for a while, and it seemed like Taeyang might have to leave soon. “What’s your favorite drink?” He asked, the sudden question taking you by surprise, but you answered, telling him what you liked best at this little cafe. It was simple but good, and often made a good book even better.
“You should try it, Taeyang!” You suggested with a smile. It would be fun if he ended up liking it, then you could appreciate how good it was together. And even if he didn’t like it, it would still tell him something about you, and the idea of him knowing you better warmed your heart a little, although you weren’t entirely sure why yet.
Taeyang smiled back at you, his smile warm and a sparkle in his eyes you couldn’t quite decipher. “That does sound good, I might just do that.”
He got up from his spot next to you and walked over to the counter. After placing an order, you assumed for the drink you suggested, he walked back over, his smile almost a smirk. As you tried to figure out why he was smiling like that, he answered your thoughts, but not in any way that you would have expected. “You should hear your name in a few minutes, I got your favorite drink for you.”
You wanted to protest, your mouth already open, but before you could say anything he continued speaking. “Think of it as a thanks for brightening my day. I have to head to work now, but I really enjoyed chatting with you. Enjoy the drink, and your day.”
With your mouth still open as you tried and failed to recover, he had already stood up and was walking away before you found your words again. “Thank you, Taeyang! For the drink and for everything else!” You called after him, your words rushing out. “I really enjoyed talking with you too, thanks for saying hi!”
Turning around the handsome florist smiled and said, “Of course, it was my pleasure.” As he noticed how flustered you had become from his words and the drink a smirk slowly grew on his face, and deciding to make you even more flustered, he winked before walking out of the cafe.
Even as he disappeared from your sight, you were still reeling from those last moments of interaction. Taeyang, one of the most handsome and charming men you had ever met, had winked at you. After buying you a drink. And talking with you. As it all sank it you felt your cheeks grow hot.
While the day had certainly taken an unexpected turn, it was hard to complain when Taeyang was involved.

everyone has a tattoo on their wrist indicating their soulmate
word count: 445
a/n: This fic is a secret santa gift for @kpop-colorful-fairy! It’s been a lot of fun getting to know you and chat with you Hannah and I hope you enjoy this little fic! Merry Christmas!
On the inside of everyone’s wrist was a tattoo, one that showed you who your soulmate would be with two symbols, one for you and one for your soulmate. For you, you had yet to find the person with the tattoo that matched yours.
However, as you were walking down the street, studying your soulmate tattoo, wondering when you would find them, you bumped into someone. Looking up, you found the eyes of a handsome stranger. His eyes were a deep brown that captured your attention, his hair a sandy blond.
“Sorry!” You both said at the same time, jumping away from the other.
The man that you had bumped into looked at you with concern in his eyes. “Are you okay? I wasn’t looking where I was going.”
“I’m fine!” You assured him, “And I wasn’t looking where I was going either.”
He reached his hand up to head, and was about to say something more when familiar symbols on his wrist caught your eyes. Your mouth opened wide, and without a word you held up your wrist for him to see.
His eyes widened as he studied your wrist and he let out a soft, “Oh.” And then he started laughing, a bright and genuine sound that made you feel light and happy. “What a way to meet!” He chuckled, “My name is Youngbin, and I’m so glad to finally meet you.”
You told him your name and he repeated it with a smile. “So then, soulmate, would you like to grab some coffee and get to know each other?” Youngbin asked, a wide smile on his face as he held his hand out to you.
“I’d love that you!” You said with a nod and took his hand. The two of you walked and talked, holding hands, and you’d never felt more at home.
Months later, after the two of you had officially started dating, you were sitting together on a couch, supposedly watching a movie, but your attention was much more on each other than what was happening on the screen.
As the two of you cuddled you traced the outline of the tattoo on his wrist, studying the shapes that were so familiar to you.
“What are you thinking about?” Youngbin asked gently, watching you trace his tattoo.
“As silly as it might sound, I’m glad I bumped into you that day. I don’t how long it would have taken for us to meet if not for that.” You looked up into his eyes and found yourself captured by the gentle fondness he looked at you with.
“I’m glad too,” he said, “And so happy to have you in my life.”
Taeyang
a stranger whose smile shines through a cold day
[comfort/fluff]
word count: 977
a/n: I’m back! Sorry it’s been a while, I haven’t had much time for writing. But hopefully I’ll be able to post a few more before the summer is over! This is a belated birthday gift for @baektoyoo! Happy Birthday!!! This is just a little piece of fluff, if you read it I hope you like it!
As you stepped outside you were greeted by the sound of the rain pouring down a few feet away. Other than the sound of the door closing softly behind you it was quiet, everything cold and muffled in that moment.
Sighing, you turned to sit on the bench next to the door, not yet ready to venture into the rain. However, it seemed that you were not as alone as you had originally thought. Staring out into the downpour was a man, and he seemed to not have noticed you yet. You took this as an opportunity to study his face, and found him to be handsome, although sad.
After a moment of contemplation of what to do next, you slid onto the other end of the bench, giving him a small smile and a, “Hi,” as you did.
He looked at you, surprised to find someone else next to him, and you got a better look of his face. Even more handsome than you had first thought, but his dark brown eyes were unhappy.
“Sorry to bother you,” you said, feeling like you should say something, although unsure if you had the right words. “But I wanted a place to sit for a moment, hopefully until the rain lets up. I can leave if you need space.”
“No,” he said with a sigh, “you’re fine. In fact, I could use a little company right about now.” He smiled, but it felt wrong, his eyes still unhappy.
You tilted your head to the side, “Oh?”
He sighed again, “I have too many thoughts, and none of them lead anywhere good, and I haven’t been able to distract myself from them.”
“I’m sorry to hear that.” You said,” Is there anything I could do? I know we don’t know each other, I mean, I don’t even know your name, but if there’s something I could do… I’d like to do it.”
Blinking softly, seeming to be surprised by your offer he started to speak and but paused, and then started again. “Thank you. That’s very kind of you. Really. Thank you. Maybe we could talk for a bit? I think some conversation could do me good.”
“Of course!” You nodded, and the two of you talked. You shared names, and found that his was Taeayng. It turned out the two of you had some common interests, and you found it very easy to talk to him. Soon the two of you were having an animated conversation, all of his thoughts now forgotten.
As he continued to talk he lit up, his eyes that had been so unhappy now filled with warmth and passion as he told you about what he held dear. You didn’t think it was possible, but when he smiled, he was even more handsome, his eyes breathtaking, and everything about him drew you to him.
Despite having only just met, there was something about him that made it feel like you’d known him for years. Over the course of the conversation the two of you had come closer together, and you found yourself getting a little nervous. This made you ramble, but you were too caught up to notice, and Taeyang didn’t seem to mind at all. He was looking at you with a content smile on his face.
As you continued to ramble you told Taeyang about a funny incident that had happened to you not long ago, and by the end he was laughing so hard he couldn’t speak, his body shaking as his eyes closed from how widely he was smiling. His hair fell into his eyes, having been shifted from its carefully styled state into a mess. He was laughing with his entire body and all you could do was smile fondly, unable to move. Maybe he looked like a mess, but he was still so handsome, and seeing him laugh like this brought you more happiness than you would have thought possible.
Looking up at you with sparkling eyes his laughter faded as his eyes met yours. Brushing his hair away from his eyes he leaned closer, and suddenly you found yourself incapable of breathing. “Thank you, I needed that. Not just this laugh, but talking with you this whole time.”
“Yeah! Of course!” You said far too quickly, your cheeks growing warmer and warmer.
He smiled once again, his dark brown eyes so full of warmth. When he smiled like that it was like the sun had come out, even as the rain continued to pour. You were a goner, you realized, and it was already too late to do anything about it. The two of you had a lot in common and he seemed so nice. And that smile of his was something you would never forget. He had your heart, and it wasn’t coming back to you any time soon.
There was a moment of silence between the two of you, and then Taeyang started to speak, only to hesitate, sitting there in silence for a moment longer before he spoke. “I have to go. I’ve really enjoyed this time with you, but I can’t stay any longer.”
“Oh.” You said. “Well, I’m glad we got this time together!”
Taeyang nodded, and after another moment of hesitation he leaned even closer and kissed your cheek. Before you had time to process he had already stood up and started to walk away. Opening his umbrella he turned back to you, and with reddened cheeks and a soft smile he waved and walked out into the rain.
You sat on the bench, unable to move. The sound of the rain was calming as you reflected on the heat in your cheeks and the pounding of your heart. Your hand touched the place where his lips had brushed against your cheek, that part of the encounter so hard to believe.

you find yourself at a certain flower shop once again
Word count: 2173
a/n: It is time once again for my annual florist au to celebrate my dear sunshine’s birthday! Yay! This is one of my favorite aus to write, I love it so much!!! And it’s a fun way to celebrate Taeyang’s birthday! I hope if you read it that you enjoy it!!!
You stepped through the door of the shop and the familiar scent of flowers surrounded you as the bell above the door tinkled. Although you had only been there once before, this was a place you would never forget. When you had last been there, it had been to avoid the rain, but this time you were there with a mission, and a hope.
The mission was to get a bouquet of beautiful flowers for your friend’s birthday, the hope was to see a certain handsome florist that worked there. Looking towards the counter, you were greeted by the sight of no one.
“Hello?” You asked with uncertainty in your voice, not seeing anyone amongst the flowers either.
“I’ll be out in a moment!” A voice called from somewhere behind the counter. It sounded like Taeyang, but you couldn’t be sure, it had been a while since you were last there. You glanced at the flowers as you waited, taking in the beauty all around you.
You heard footsteps and looking back to the counter you were greeted with the face you had been hoping to see. When he saw you, his face lit up with a warm smile. Perhaps not as bright a smile as when he talked about flowers, but all the same he did look happy to see you. “Hello, Y/N!” He said cheerfully, making his way towards you.
Blinking with surprise you looked at him. “You remembered my name?”
“Of course!” He said, still smiling warmly. “How could I forget someone like you?”
“Someone like me?” You questioned, trying to hide how flustered his attention made you. It was like the sun was shining directly on you, warming you completely.
Taeyang nodded his head, a smaller smile that was almost a smirk on his lips. “Yes, someone I was hoping to see again. But anyway, my happiness at getting to see you aside, what brings you to my little shop?”
“Oh, well,” you stumbled over your words, his warmth and his words overwhelming you. “I have a friend, with a birthday coming up soon. And I wanted to get them some flowers. I know they like flowers, but they don’t really have a favorite kind. And I remembered this place, and how much you know about flowers, so here I am.”
He smiled with another nod of his head. “Here you are indeed.” His smile faded and was replaced by a serious look on his face, all his focus now on flowers. “Well, does your friend have a favorite color? That might help to narrow down the options.”
You thought for a moment before replying. “Their favorite color is orange, but they also like pink and purple.”
Tapping his chin in thought, Taeyang walked back to the counter and pulled out a book. He gestured for you to come over, and when you did you saw that it was a book of flowers and bouquets. “These are all the different bouquets we currently have the stock to make, as well as some individual flowers if you’d like to make a custom bouquet,” he explained, “we can flip through this and see what would work best.”
“Oh,” he said, looking up from the book, on the verge of asking you a question. His eyes met yours and for a moment both of you forgot all words, trapped in the eyes of the other. The depth of his eyes drew you deeper and deeper, the deep brown color had a warmth to it that you found irresistible. He had such beautiful eyes, and a part of you wished you could gaze at them forever.
After the silence began to be uncomfortable, not a word spoken between the two of you, Taeyang managed to pull his eyes away, breaking the spell he had trapped you in. His cheeks seemed a little redder than they had been before, and yours felt warm.
With a cough he spoke, “Sorry. I mean, well, what I was going to say. You see, I forgot to ask you, what’s the budget for this bouquet for your friend?”
“Um.” Was all you could get out, still a little overwhelmed by the moment that had occurred between the two of you. With a shake of your head you were finally able to get more words out. “I don’t have a budget, I want this to be a really special gift for my friend, so I don’t care about cost.”
“Sounds like a special friend.” Taeyang commented thoughtfully, his voice a little cooler than you had heard before. But then he was back to his focused-on-flowers demeanor, flipping through the pages until he came to one in particular.
He turned the book around so you could see better as he began to point out some bouquets on the page. “This bouquet is a good one for celebrations, it has a lot of bright colors, with orange Asiatic Lilies as the highlight. It doesn’t have any purple flowers, but if you want a more focused color scheme this could be a good choice.” Besides the lilies that he had pointed out, the bouquet also had small red flowers that almost looked to be miniature lilies, soft pink flowers that looked like pom-poms, and fuchsia carnations. This arrangement of brilliantly colored flowers reminded you of the brightest part of a sunset.
You nodded and Taeyang continued on to the next bouquet, pointing to another brightly colored one. However, this one looked less like a sunset, with the creamy orange roses contrasting against the deep colors of the small purple flowers and pink daisies. It also had some yellow chrysanthemums and little bits of greenery, giving the whole bouquet a very vibrant look. “This one was especially designed for birthdays, with a special vase and a little decoration within the flowers.”
“And this bouquet is a lovely one for any occasion. It also has orange lilies, although of a different variety than the other one I showed you, along with sunflowers and pink roses. And,” he paused, looking up at you with a shy smile on his face, his eyes radiating a soft happiness, “it has some purple lisianthus.”
You nodded your head, “Oh yeah! I remember you mentioning them the last time I was here, you like them a lot, don’t you?”
He beamed at you, delighted that you had remembered. “Yes, they’re my favorite flower!”
Looking at the image on the page, you could see the lisianthus. You had learned what they looked like on your last visit, and they were the only purple flower in the bouquet, so it wasn’t hard to spot them. Besides the flowers Taeyang had mentioned, there were also some soft yellow flowers and green flowers accompanied by some soft bits of greenery.
As you studied his suggested bouquets, your finger thoughtfully tapped your chin as you hummed to yourself. It was a hard decision to make, all three options were such beautiful bouquets. However, you did need to decide. “I think I’ll rule out the one that doesn’t have purple,” you told the florist standing patiently next to you, “but between the other two I’m just not sure.”
You tapped your fingers on the pages of the book, your eyes scanning over the two bouquets, “I need to think about this, and pick a good one.”
“They’re all good ones,” Taeyang said with a quiet chuckle, “it’s more a matter of which one is right for the occasion.”
You nodded thoughtfully. “I see your point. I guess then I need to figure out which one is the right one for my friend. They really are so beautiful, it’s hard to choose.”
“Well,” Taeyang said slowly, “is there a certain type of feeling you’re trying to convey to your friend with this bouquet? Different ones will convey different things, even if the change is slight.”
You nodded, thinking about what he had said, “I want to show how much they mean to me, they’re such a wonderful friend, such a bright and cheerful person, I really treasure them. And I want to convey that I want them to have a wonderful birthday, because it’s what they deserve.”
“I see.” Taeyang looked at you thoughtfully. “After saying that out loud, do you feel more drawn to one of them?”
“I think, the special birthday one.” You were still a little unsure and it could be heard in your voice, but between the two it did feel more right to you.
In response to your decision you received a warm smile. “That’s a good choice, with the bright colors and the special birthday elements it’s one of my favorite bouquets for birthdays.”
“Why didn’t you say it was one of your favorites as you were showing them to me?” You asked him, your head tilting to the side.
“I didn’t want my opinion to influence yours,” the black-haired man admitted, “I believe that the bouquet someone picks should be the one they feel is the best for them, not the ones I like the best. Although, since you know my favorite flower it’s a little harder to be completely neutral.”
He seemed a little embarrassed to admit this, so you smiled warmly at him. “I think that’s admirable of you, thank you for letting me decide on my own. And knowing that you like it a lot makes me feel surer of my choice.”
“Oh?” He asked, his embarrassment replaced with a soft smile that was almost starting to turn into a smirk. “Does my opinion on flowers matter to you?”
“Well, yes,” you said. “Of course it does, you’re a florist after all, and you seem so passionate and knowledgeable about flowers, why wouldn’t your opinion matter to me?”
“Oh,” he said again, but softer, and not a question.
There was something about the gentle warmth in his eyes that made it hard for you to think, almost as if your thoughts were getting caught in the depths of them. Glancing down, you tried to focus back on the flowers, but it was hard with him standing there looking at you.
“Anyway,” you said, trying to find a subtle way to avoid his eyes so you could make sure to get your words out properly. “I think the birthday bouquet is the right one. I like it a lot, I like the birthday-ness of it, and you like it as well. That’s a good enough reason for me.”
“Alright then!” he nodded and started to make his way over to the cash register, the book in his hand. “When is your friend’s birthday?”
You had memorized the day long ago, your friend’s birthday something you never wanted to forget. “It’s about three weeks from now. Is that enough time? I’ve never ordered a bouquet like this before.”
“That means that you can chose the exact day you want to pick them up.” The florist beamed as he continued, “Coming in ahead of time was a really good idea, most people wait until the last minute and then get upset when we can’t get their bouquet finished in time, but three weeks is plenty of time! When do you want to pick it up?”
As soon as you told him the date he wrote it down in the shop’s order book along with your name, phone number, and the bouquet you had chosen. After that he rung up the bouquet on the register and your mission was complete.
Taeyang handed you a slip of paper. “Bring this when you come to pick up your bouquet and you’ll be all set. Call the number at the bottom if you have any questions between now and your pick up. Thank you for ordering a bouquet from Sweet Petal Florals.”
After finishing his little speech, he gave you another brilliant smile. “It was lovely picking out a bouquet with you, please come again if you ever need another bouquet or any type of flower. Also,” he added, “if you ever need shelter from the rain again, I certainly wouldn’t mind your company.”
“Oh,” you said, a little flustered. “Thank you. It was um, lovely picking out a bouquet with you too. Thanks for helping me, I really appreciate it.”
“My pleasure.” His voice was low and sweet, his eyes soft and warm, and you found your cheeks starting to heat up.
You nodded, and with a smile and wave you said, “I hope you have a good rest of your day, Taeyang! Thank you again!”
As you were turning to leave you heard his reply, “The same to you, Y/N! Come again any time!”
The bell above the door tinkled and you were outside. The cool air was refreshing after getting so flustered at the end of your encounter with the handsome florist. You sighed. Talking to someone so charming was not easy on your heart. You tucked your bouquet slip into your pocket and started walking, away from the flower shop you were definitely going to visit again.
