things I told my conservative neighbors:
schools aren’t trying to make your straight kids gay, they’re just teaching them to be respectful, loving and accepting so gay kids don’t have to endure trauma, bullying or harassment. and if you as an adult have a problem with kids not being hateful, then you are the problem and your kids deserve better than you.
Holy shit, first universal free childcare program in the United States just dropped
New Mexico's child care assistance program is set to expand and become the first universal program in the U.S., the governor announced Monda
"New Mexico’s child care assistance program is set to expand and become the first universal program in the U.S., the governor announced Monday [September 8, 2025].
New Mexico Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said the state is eliminating the income eligibility requirements of its current child care assistance program to do this.
Currently, the program waives copayments for New Mexico families with incomes at or below 400% of the federal poverty level. That allows those families to pay little-to-no child care costs.
In November [2025], that will now apply to all families. The state estimates this expansion will save families an average of $12,000 per child [to clarify, that is PER YEAR. Families will save an average of $12,000 per child PER YEAR. x, x. That is a life-changing difference for so many fucking people.]
“It’s the difference between making it when inflation in this country remains too high. Particularly, in areas, like food, things that families have to have to raise their families,” the governor said.
With the expansion comes increased demand for care facilities. New Mexico estimates they will need an additional 5,000 early childhood professionals to achieve a universal system. They plan to increase reimbursement rates and give incentives to programs committing to pay entry-level staff a minimum of $18 per hour and offer 10 hours of care per day, five days a week.
The state also plans to do the following to improve the supply of care:
Establish a $12.7 million low-interest loan fund to construct, expand and renovate child care facilities
Additional $20 million requested in the Fiscal Year 2027 budget.
Target growth to focus on care for infants, toddlers, low-income families and children with special needs.
Partner with employers and school districts to expand child care options for working families.
Launch a statewide campaign to recruit licensed and registered home providers.
“Early childhood care and education is a public good,” said Elizabeth Groginsky, secretary of the New Mexico’s Early Childhood Education and Care Department. “By providing universal access and improving pay for our early childhood workforce, we are easing financial pressure on families, strengthening our economy and helping every child learn in safe, nurturing environments. This is the kind of investment that builds equity today and prosperity for the future.”
More information on how to access universal child care benefits and more is available here: https://www.nmececd.org/universal...
So many families have to make the tough decision to raise their children or work to pay the bills. This will solve that problem for many hard working New Mexicans."

My mother suffered severe bleeding during her surgery today and needs three units of blood. There are no units of blood in the hospital, and none of us can donate due to malnutrition.
People who can still donate blood are forced to sell it for $500 per unit — just to afford a meal. The news doesn’t talk about this kind of suffering.
Please… write about us. Speak about us. Donate if you can.

My niece Toleen died from malnutrition at just two months old.
Please look at us with mercy and donate if you can.
Tulin came into our lives after five long years of hoping and waiting.
Malnutrition took her before we ever got the chance to watch her grow.
I’ve lost many family members to bombings — but I never imagined hunger would take one too.
The world is devoid of mercy; it doesn’t feel for the children🥺

DON’T SKIP, PLEASE I BEG YOU.
Please, I beg you — don’t scroll past this.
Don’t look away. Every second matters. Children in Gaza are not just starving — they are dying from hunger. This heartbreaking photo shows just one of the many innocent lives wasting away in silence. My own baby, little Qais, is suffering the same fate. He’s just a small child, too weak to walk, too empty to cry. I’m pleading with you to donate anything you can — even the smallest amount could help save his life and the lives of others like him.
The famine in Gaza is a human-made catastrophe, driven by unbearable conditions:
1. Total blockade: Food, medicine, and aid are deliberately prevented from reaching millions of civilians.
2. Destruction of agriculture: Airstrikes have wiped out farms, bakeries, and water systems, cutting off local sources of survival.
3. Collapse of healthcare: With hospitals under attack and no supplies left, malnourished children like Qais are left with no treatment, no care, and no chance to recover.
Together, these three forces are killing Gaza’s children. Hunger is no longer just a crisis — it’s an execution.
I’m just a mother holding onto hope with bleeding hands. I cannot feed my son. I cannot keep him warm. I watch him slip away — not because I failed him, but because the world abandoned us. Please, I’m begging you from the depths of my shattered heart: don’t let Qais be another nameless victim. Don’t let hunger erase him. Give whatever you can. Share this. Speak up. You are his last hope. Help Qais live.
PLEASE DONATE HERE
If Qais was your only child, would you leave him to face his fate alone?
DONATE HERE PLEASE
DON'T SKIP, I BEG YOU ✋🚨 you're the only hope to save a child😔😭
Roughly 6 months in and the US is already at the ‘full blown concentration camps’ stage.
My mother still bakes bread for us despite the difficult conditions here. My mother defies the circumstances and her illness. She wants to give us everything she can so that we can continue living. Please help me and my family. We need you. Your support gives us life and hope.

I'd just like to clarify some things about Senator Cory Booker's marathon Senate speech in protest of the present administration and everything they are doing to the American people.
Senator Booker was NOT allowed to sit down, eat, or use the bathroom during his speech. Sitting or leaving the room to use the bathroom would be considered yielding the floor. Eating would have interfered with his speaking and the person who has the senate floor must continue to speak, except when listening to questions that they will then answer.
He only took occasional sips of water.
The person who previously held the record for longest speech on the Senate floor did have bathroom breaks and also did things like read from the encyclopedia.
Senator Booker did not do that. His speech was to point out the damage that this administration is doing and he stayed on that subject.
Senator Booker's speech did reach many people. It wasn't a silly stunt that was done so that he could take the record for longest speech. He wanted to show the country that democrats will do something to bring attention to the problems we are facing. That democrats are listening to them.
Senator Cory Booker spoke for 25 hours and 4 minutes to "make good trouble."
also like, a Black man breaking Strom Thurmond's record is absolutely *chef's kiss*
for those who are too young to know about Strom, he was literally a white supremacist
Not just ‘a’ white supremacist. He was *THE* white supremacist. INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT CONTEXT HERE is that Storm Thurmond’s speech that he broke the record of? It was 24 hours and 18 minutes opposing *the Civil Rights Act of 1957*. He voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. He was a segregationist POS who was the blueprint for the Southern Strategy which was designed by Lee Atwater, a former Thurmond aide. Having his record broken by Booker is astounding and I’m so happy.
If hell exists, Strom Thurmond is being flambéed and I’m happy for it.
Yeah. Not only did he give one of the greatest and more inspiring and powerful and authentic political speeches of all time. He did it for 0ver 25 hours straight with no food, water, breaks or rest. AND while breaking a record set by a white supremacist. Amazing leadership. that's we need.
And it worked. Democrats are now stepping up more. They formed an opposition cabinet, which people have been asking for. And are showing support for peaceful protesters. Of course we need to keep pushing - because the engine of democracy is not elected officials, but the people. Keep voting, running for office, coming to town halls, calling your reps, and KEEP PROTESTING. We are going to defeat these fascists.
If Cory Booker can stand up all day and all night for his people and his country we can push ourselves to our limits too.

I have a message for anyone living in Ohio
There is a bill in the Ohio General Assembly right now called Senate Bill 1. The bill, effectively, would force all public universities in Ohio to cut all their DEI programs and because of the way the bill is worded, it wouldn’t just cut things like organizations that have DEI in the title, it also means that Ohio’s universities wouldn’t be able to provide services and accommodations for people with disabilities
Now I was planning on attending a public university in Ohio to study Disability Studies and I also have a disability that requires accommodations.
If this bill becomes law, it would basically derail my life and the lives of thousands of other people who dared to not be born cishet able-bodied white men.
I don’t actually live in Ohio right now which means there’s not really anything I can do about this. But if you do live in Ohio I am begging you to fight this. Call your state representatives, protest, do anything possible to stop this from happening. This bill is such a blatant violation of civil rights and human decency.
Not a single President of any of Ohio’s public universities has spoken out to challenge this bill. The bill has already passed both the Senate and House, the House made some changes so sent it back to the Senate and it’s awaiting their second vote.
Again, this bill would effectively make it illegal in Ohio for anyone who’s not a cishet able-bodied white man majoring in anything that’s not MAGA approved to attend college.
So if you live in Ohio and you’re reading this, please do something. Make as much noise about this as you possibly can. Don’t let democracy die in darkness.

Let these be the photos that mark tonight.
This evening, Rep. Al Green of Texas was forcibly removed from the joint session of Congress by the sergeant-at-arms for standing up and yelling “You have no mandate to cut Medicaid.” during the president’s address.
“He is a person who has consistently used incivility against civility,” Green said.
“I’m willing to suffer whatever punishment is available to me,” he continued. “I didn’t say to anyone, ‘Don’t punish me.’ I’ve said I’ll accept the punishment, but it’s worth it to let people know that there are some of us who are going to stand up against this president’s desire to cut Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.”
“This is about the people who are being punished by virtue of losing their health care,” he added. “This is the richest country in the world, and we have people who don’t have good health care.” (Per HuffPost)
It amazes me how the National Park Service is the most vocal department against Fascism. Even the Democrats are a mumble when compared to these park rangers' adamant denouncement and exposing of this administration. Support our bravest federal workers who keep our world one worth living in.
It’s not lost on me that Bernie Sanders is the only mainstream politician touring the country rn listening to Americans’ concerns, giving them hope that a better world is still possible. Not campaigning for President, not an election year, just inspiring swing town voters to use their power to incite change in their communities.
Bernie is 83yo, doing the work that every single Democrat could be doing simply in their own district. He’s packing overflow rooms by the thousands in suburban and rural towns, not “democratic strongholds”. It is possible to get through the next four years but the status quo Dems aren’t going to make that happen.
Imagine what a true progressive party could do for the US. Leftist policy is popular and wins elections. Bernie and others have told us this for decades. If you tuned out his message before, I have to wonder what side you’re truly on. Because his shtick has not wavered with everyday Americans.
Not me, us.
