There's a degree to where I'm thoroughly exhausted by "this is how the minimum wage is supposed to work" or "housing prices have inflated beyond any affordable reach" I don't care about reforms. I don't want the military empire to be reformed to make living here more hospitable. I don't want the settler colony to be reformed to make living here more hospitable. I don't want capitalists to develop a conscience and begin funding public works to make living here more hospitable. Wanting to keep the US around in some form is not "class consciousness".
the entire line is "White Parents Self-Segregating Neighborhoods and Schools" which is in fact white supremacist no nuance
Rare white woman win free my girl she ain’t do nothin wrong
She was just doing the coke that gives you the executive function to torch a misogynist
Seeing the article saying she did it because "he made a joke about scones." Like no she did it he made a joke about how she should be enslaved to a man
Just want to point out the manipulative way this article is written.
"... a court that finally said - no, you don't get less time for this." Why finally? Was she convicted for several other crimes where the ruling always offered her an easier sentence?
The way the word claimed is used only when describing her defense. If you want to make sure her arguments are understood as fallible human arguments, then you should have the grace to also describe what Jake Loader claimed. And present at least a rough overview of the evidence of both sides.
The clear comparison between her prison sentence and his life long disability is one that is often used in murder or injury cases, but this article clearly only positions itself on Jake Loaders side.
The way they summarized a misogynistic joke as being "... a joke about scones."
The article itself is severely misogynistic. It is biased and bad journalism because it goes into too much detail in some parts (why is it important for the reader to understand the exact condition of Jake Loader? Did he agree to this depiction of himself?) and it invalidates parts of the public's understanding of the case.
A reader agreeing with Loader and the article will agree, gleefully think "She got what she deserves." and never question their own biases. Such a reader may maybe themselves make misogynistic jokes and comments and (thinking only in the interest of such a reader here) may invite a similar fate, but will certainly harm and belittle the person those comments are targeted towards.
A reader disagreeing with the article will probably go away reading this with the impression that the courts are deeply misogynistic, never even wanted to understand Corbie Walpole's point of view and sentenced her unfairly. We don't know if that is true. Because the article didn't talk about it.
By reducing this case to a fun to read short story with a satisfying "the evil gets punished" ending, they produce an easy to digest blurb and completely invalidate everybody's involvement in the case.
Walpole as a violent crazed woman who cannot take a joke, Loader as the poor victim without regards to his opinion, future or past and all the case workers to incompetent misogynistists.
As an aside. Not even a little mention of the cocaine? If this was a story (article is too flattering a word) about two college students of the regions not persecuted race, would it not be a demonisation of drugs?
Further insider info on UberEats, DoorDash, etc. and why drivers hating you isn't about ableism, from a disabled gig driver:
What I need people to understand about rideshare food delivery apps in the vast majority of the US is that the driver quite literally does not get paid unless you tip. You need to forget what you know about tipping culture and start learning about how it's legal to pay tipped workers NOTHING. If you want to keep using the app, you have to tip. If you don't want to tip, fight to get the drivers legal protections and a living wage. If you keep using the app without tipping, fuck you.
Unlike with rides, an app delivery driver is not paid per mile OR for time. It's a flat rate, usually between $1.50 and $3 regardless of how long the order takes, how long the restaurant takes to make it, etc.
Deliveries in many markets usually take most or all of an hour to complete due to the distance & sheer volume of traffic, so we're looking at functionally $2 per online hour (not booked hour, booked hours are BULLSHIT because we can't do ANYTHING else while waiting on orders) on a good day if nobody tips.
I will remind you a gallon of gas costs more than that, and the round trip from the restaurant to you is usually enough to consume most of a gallon or even over a gallon of fuel. This is because the app doesn't always select a location near you. Instead, it often chooses the restaurant closest to the driver, which...honestly, on a busy day, it could be like 15 to 20 miles away from you because THAT was the closest place they could find a driver to. It's not our fault your food's cold, either, in other words.
The reason your food is taking an hour to get to you when you don't tip is because the apps will try their hardest NOT to raise this rate unless they're forced to. Your food isn't even being prepared because drivers are seeing an offer to go 15 miles for $1.50 and going "haha, no, I'm not a fucking idiot" and taking the offers that are higher. Your order floats around in the system getting $0.20 tacked onto the base pay until someone FINALLY takes it.
I literally never stop moving when I'm running deliveries unless I am at the customer's front door, so when you open said door and bitch at me for how long your food took to get to you, I know instantly that you didn't tip & the algorhithm didn't even bother showing it to me until it was worth my time because I always hit no on orders that ask me to do unpaid labor.
When you try to justify not tipping w/ any reason, you just look like an asshole to the people actually doing all this work for you. "I need you to do unpaid labor because I'm poor" yeah babe so are we, and we're usually poorer than the ones saying this shit
Yes, your dentist can absolutely tell if you masturbated at home before your appointment. And in fact, a shower and change of clothes does little to hide this. The best step forward is to apologize to your dentist for masturbating.
The fact of the matter is that every trans masc is on thin ice. trans women are being directly and specifically targeted by the state, and rather than show any form of solidarity, these dudes are helping throw us to the wolves.
it is not sufficient for you to be neutral. you must be a vocal and aggressive ally to the trans femmes in your life. you must not be complicit.
Only on tumblr will you see someone celebrating kiwifarms being targeted by a DDoS attack while actively participating in one of kiwifarms harassment campaigns.
No but you see she deserved that, the kiwifarmers are right this time x)
btw, its very marxist of me to hound this girl. You just haven't educated yourself enough to understand

while I do acknowledge data centers are putting strain on a lot of very vulnerable communities it's also important to note that this too is a product of finance capital planning for infinite growth and disregarding safety to do so. AI itself can be run economically (in terms of power) and that much has been demonstrated repeatedly but it's not, because like every other industry, it's being controlled by and for capital, competitively, with wanton waste and destruction as a result. the harm is not stored in the math, nor even data centers themselves, nor queries, it's entirely preventable, and that's worse
Like AI cannot both be a low effort brainrotting tool that outputs pure garbage and also a nefarious cheating hack that tricks every professor into giving you an A+. Those are contradictory arguments. You guys don’t even know what position you’re arguing for
there's nothing that can be done by human hands that cannot be done by another host of mechanisms, intelligent design isn't real

"The writers clearly hate Jacob Anderson & Delainey Hayles and their characters! That's why they both suffered so much!"
Sweetie, if they hated the characters/actors at all they wouldn't be IN TVL at all!
