The unexpected connections we make might not last, yet stay with us forever.
Lost In Translation
my hopeless romantic dream of meeting a guy in the airport has come true
I didn't want to slip into something easy and mundane. I'd rather struggle longer for a greater reward that I just know is out there.
“You have to create your own space which has a lot of silence in it and a lot of books.”
— Susan Sontag, from an interview conducted c. October 1979 (via violentwavesofemotion)
I enjoy my solitude. There's times that I even crave it.
However, sometimes I have moments where I'll experience something beautiful- the taste of a crisp peach under the sun or a forgotten song plays while driving down a road at sunset- and I'll feel the gratitude in my heart until the thought of "damn, I wish someone was here experiencing this too." Because there's that added layer of joy when you turn to the person next to you and you can tell that they're feeling the same and you have that overwhelming rush of feelings that sear the moment into your memory.
But there's no one there.
This is when my solitude turns into loneliness,
and that's when I miss you.
got dinner with a friend, walked her neighborhood to look at flowers, hula hooped in her yard, and snuggled my pup
i think my word for the rest of the year is going to be balance. i don't think i'll ever stop being a goal oriented person, but i definitely see the benefit of simple pleasures.
“I came to a point where I needed solitude and just stop the machine of thinking and enjoying what they call living, I just wanted to lie in the grass and look at the clouds.”
— Jack Kerouac
