Revas glanced at Vaelen's ears out of curiosity. They were round, not pointed. Human passing. Revas felt a little sorry for him, he was always going to have to explain himself to his own kind instead of just being. He'd heard of city elves and humans having families but it was never something that he'd seen personally. He never ventured too far near Shemlen cities, the things he was sent to find would never be found there by him. His specialty was finding things in the Dales.
"You can pet her if you want, she wont bite. Scratch behind her ears she likes that." Revas gave a demonstration scratching behind Shiral's right ear while her tail thumped on the ground.
Revas nods, his demeanor never changing form his serious disposition. He was here on a job too looking for an artifact, not that he would tell Vaelen that. Though his researcher friend piqued his interest. He too had a 'researcher' friend in the inquisition. "Oh and he said it should be kept away from Shemlen at all times?" Revas glanced over to the encampment. Well... this was very awkward.
"You know, I saw these Shemlen with something weird earlier." Revas floated the suggestion as if he had no idea about the artifact. He was just a clueless old elf out collecting firewood after all. Playing stupid might wrangle him some help. Revas grabs Vaelen's arm and yanks the poor man down so they're both crouching in the bushes. Revas has no idea if Vaelen can see as well as he can.
"See over there," Revas whispered. He gently grabbed Vaelen's chin to direct his head in the correct direction when he looked the wrong way. The artifact was prism shaped and elven in design. "Odd decoration to have in a Shemlen camp."

"𝙾𝙷 𝙽𝙾, 𝙸 — 𝙸'𝙻𝙻 𝚃𝙰𝙺𝙴 𝚈𝙾𝚄𝚁 𝚆𝙾𝚁𝙳 𝙵𝙾𝚁 𝙸𝚃. thank you." maybe the wolf doesn't bite its master. others, though? no, not a risk worth taking under any circumstances. instinctively, his hands keep returning to a posture of surrender. "you — ?" he tears his eyes from the wolf. "oh, you saw — ?" before he can fully get the question out, the elf grabs ahold of vaelen's arm and pulls hard, sending them both hurtling towards the ground. vaelen yelps, eyes comically wide as he calls and collapses in a heap. for pity's sake, the dales are determined to kill him! it takes him a moment of furious blinking to reorient himself. blowing his hair from his face, vaelen shifts into a crouching position next to revas, who promptly grabs him by the chin. maker, are all elves so handsy? "i don't see anything," he confesses in a too-loud whisper, brow furrowed in concentration. for the life of him, all he can see are — leaves.
Revas gently placed his index finger on Vaelen's lips to hush him. "Indoor whisper, falon. I am right here and all ears as we elves like to say." By all of the gods, this one really wasn't used to anything. Vas wondered how long it would take Vaelens soft hands to harden up in The Dales. He's a little surprised that Vaelen can't see the artifact, surely he had some of the elven traits right? "They have it in the camp," Revas explained. "It hasn't been activated yet but Shemlen playing with Elven toys doesn't usually end well for them or for us."
Revas had no doubt that some nearby clan would be accused and punished for an explosion of a human's own making. "I also don't think this part of the forest needs a crater in it. It didn't need this camp either but the crater's going to be there for decades, the Shemlen camp won't."
He let out a soft sigh. "I was going to sneak in after dark..." he looked Vaelen up and down. "Perhaps with you we don't have to sneak in we could simply walk in and take it... in the name of the inquisition of course we are both very devout members." Revas winked trying to convey to Vaelen what he meant.
Who: @ghilana
Where: Dales
When: 30 Solas dragon 9:41, evening
The night before All Souls Day was always rife with tasks. There was much to be done in order to honor the dead with dignity and respect. Once Develva carried the last of her supplies to the encampment, she was exhausted. After the previous intrusion, by that human Develva was behind in her ceremonial duties.
Develva approached the firepit ready to prepare herself for the next day, taking a seat next to Revas. The storyteller had settled with her clan for then winter and traveled with them for All Souls Day. "No pranks from me today, falon" Revas must have been as exhausted as she was preparing for the next day. "The forest is safe to trek" Develva offered Revas a tired smirk. There were rites to be performed and subtle reflections to be made for their ancestors, for the clans before them. Revas's clan was whipped out by werewolves, and Develva could not imagine what the dalish could be going through this All Souls Eve.
All souls day was something that he always spent with different clans over the past ten years. He felt like he was intruding with his own grief. Every clan he'd stayed with had lost members during the blight and many were gone just from existing as elves but he couldn't help feel jealous that they still had a clan to grieve with. Revas kept his grief quiet during the ceremonies in fear that he would somehow over power everyone else.
He too was tired from the preparations, sitting by the fire was a luxury. He laughed. "That sounds like something someone would say to tempt me in to the forest to prank me." Revas playfully raised his brows and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Though, thank you for letting me know but I don't think I'll be trekking back in to the forest this evening. I've done my fair share of collecting the fire wood we should be okay for the next could of days." It was hard to even think about doing tasks on the days after, camps were always somber thinking of the loved ones they'd lost.
"I feel as though we have so much already done and more things just keep appearing that need our attention."
We all do foolish things [...] in moments of hopelessness.

And in all that time, I promise we will see to it that the trees of this wood are left at peace.

There is a dearth of Elven heroes this night. It would be a pity to lose another.
