Do you think there's anything left for Zeke in the story? It seems like his storyline has been completed with his reconciling with Grisha. Would not be surprised if he died soon.

Hello Anon!

I’m not sure how much longer Zeke is gonna be left alive in the story, but I can think of at least 2 major things that I believe should get touched upon before his arc concludes. 

Firstly, there is his relationship with Eren. Their dynamic and thematic foiling has been central in this arc, and with Zeke losing his excessively rosy view of Eren, I’m curious to see what’s next in that development and what their exact feelings towards one another are now (especially on Eren’s side). With Zeke, he’s understandably feeling great fear and opposition against Eren, but considering how much emphasis there had been on his brotherly love for so long, I find it hard to imagine that those feelings would suddenly fade into irrelevance, especially given how family is a major theme in Zeke’s storyline.

Secondly, there remains the mystery surrounding Xaver, who has been strongly implied to not have had pure intentions to approach Zeke as a child regardless of whether a sincere mutual bond was formed eventually. For someone initially presented as a fatherly, empathetic person, he was weirdly desperate to convince an emotionally vulnerable young Zeke that his parents never loved him and to sell them out. 

(His expression looks like a mix of unease, trepidation and guilt I would say)

The anime even further reinforced his sketchiness (and plot significance) with that little extra scene showing how Xaver knew Grisha as a child…

But coming back to Zeke himself, I find that a significant part of his personal arc, when it comes to the major relationships in his life, concerns coming to see people with clearer eyes and outgrowing his initial views of them. We saw this with Grisha, who was persona non grata #1 for a long time until he realized how much Grisha actually loved him. And of course we saw this with Eren, whom he idealized as the brother who fully understood him until he revealed himself to be actively working against him. For Zeke who is sometimes prone to projecting onto others, especially in the extreme case of his euthanasia plan where he personally decided that all future Eldians would be better off never being born, this is an important issue for him to overcome to grow as a character. 

And so, I am expecting that just as Zeke discovered that his birth father wasn’t a purely bad person, he may discover that his adoptive father might not be the purely good person he thinks him to be. Maybe that could in turn let him start reconsidering his downer worldview since Xaver was the one who cemented that belief in his head and kick-started his messiah complex in the first place!

His view of death as salvation is one that has been repeatedly challenged, even straight to his face, so I’d be surprised if his story ended with him still having that mindset intact. Moreover, it has already been remarked by bright folks in the fandom that Zeke inheriting Xaver’s glasses is symbolic of him also inheriting his “better to not be born” ideology. Ever since the glasses have been lost, Zeke has been shown to have his eyes opened to new truths about his family members so likely, that streak could continue with him finding out more about Xaver once the spotlight is on him again. 

All of the beast titan’s memories dwell within him. Maybe the full activation of the founding titan power might suddenly bring some of those hidden memories to light? Plot magic, do your thing. 

In any case, I don’t think that these things would need lengthy focus since there’s so much more going on in the story right now but at least some proper resolution for Zeke would be nice :)

Fans of Hannibal may find this suit familiar from the second season of Hannibal, but super fans –– the kind itching for something new –– might recall this fabric from a behind-the-scenes shot posted to Twitter by producer Bryan Fuller.  In the tweet, Fuller presented a number of options for upcoming suits for Dr. Lecter, including this very bold, very bright red check.

Checks can be a difficult fabric to work with for a number of reasons. First, it is distracting to the eye when the checks do not line up accurately, particularly so when the print is as bold as this one, so great care must be taken to cut the suit so that the finished jacket will have matched patterns. Second, the check can be difficult to arrange so that it flatters the patron’s body type and does not create any visually jarring lines. Additionally, because the jacket and vest are so bold, it is important that other details are more subtle: for that reason, we selected plain black buttons and matched the checks on the pockets so they would blend in almost seamlessly.

And of all of Hannibal’s suits, this is perhaps the one suited best to the screen and less so the real world. Few are flamboyant enough to wear a print like this one –– actor and former dancer Mads Mikkelsen certainly has an easier time of it, with his Danish good looks, broad shoulders and immaculate posture, but he is also aided by studio lighting and art direction that mutes the pattern. Still, that is one more thing unique about this bespoke piece –– you are unlikely to see it anywhere but on-screen!

Have been browsing through pinterest, and it gave me a list of easily confused words in English. I desided to read it, and, um...

Anyway my sister is like, “I thought you didn’t watch trailers, you don’t like being spoiled” and I’m like, buddy I have not been spoiled and I know nothing. I get that Norman Reedus and Guillermo Del Toro are in a broad sense pro-creepy babies but it is too early to extrapolate that – for example – Mads Mikkelsen is part of an anti-creepy baby contingent. He may be pro- even creepier babies. He may be an eldritch tentacular horror from the sea, in the approximate shape of Mads Mikkelsen, who nevertheless kills Shanghai mitten crabs by his very presence. Thanks to Kubo Mitsurou of Yuri on Ice by the way, without whom I would not know that a Shanghai mitten crab is called that in English although last October I went on a four hour car trip to eat the things in a town in which there was nothing to do but eat the things. Shanghai mitten crabs can survive any environmental pollution, including the heavy metals in the estuary of the Yangtze River, but it appears they cannot survive Mads Mikkelsen. What chance do the babies have? I expect to find out in 2020 or whenever this game comes out.

now THIS this i find very very interesting and somewhat… very relieving because, well, the way it was put in the amber spyglass, it seemed to be heavily implied that daemons settle during a person’s first romantic relationship when will and lyra do it - i can’t remember the exact wording, but it was something about the wonder of the thought that every single person ever had the exact same experience as them, having their daemons settle to a lover’s touch and well it’s very beautiful from a poetic point of view but trying to apply daemonism to the real world, it doesn’t feel right because what about people who’re into their twenties - and beyond! - and have never been in a romantic relationship? i mean for instance i’m 20 and i’ve still never been in a relationship - yet i feel that at this point i’m - my personality, my self - is fairly settled; meaning at this point i’d have expected my daemon to be settled as well and what about aromantic people? does it have to be romantic love, a romantic lover’s hand that touches one’s daemon? because then their daemons would never settle but then - shortly after i read this tweet and had a burst of thoughts - i remembered lyra’s world version of the biblical tale of adam and eve and if i remember correctly - their daemons settled after they ate the forbidden fruit, and, well, became aware of themselves, and covered up  that was the original sin - becoming aware of themselves and it ties into the plot of the first book - trying to prevent not the settling of the daemon, but the “disturbing” thoughts that a daemon brings while growing up - that is, the thoughts of becoming self aware! and it also ties in with dust - the whole reason it’s unique is that it’s a self aware particle - and the attraction of dust to a person changes between childhood and adulthood, because they become self aware - dust particles start attracting one another when they become self aware, maybe? - but that’s the “physical” process, within the science of hdm

but the main, relieving message here is this romantic love is not the requirement for a daemon to settle you may go on with your life
