Hawk and Wolf [closed]
Things didnât add up. If anything, this only made Hawke even more confused. Fenris seemed completely serious, but he knew for a fact that Meredith wasnât dead. That rumor would circle town so fucking fast it would make everyoneâs head spin. No, something was very wrong here and it wasnât Hawke.
"I know that jokes arenât exactly your forte, but I think youâre going to have to try a bit harder with this one. Iâm not exactly getting the punch line," he said with pursed lips and a slightly sour expression. He knew, deep down, that Fenris wasnât trying to make a joke. He might have been incapable of the action to be perfectly honest. But at the same time it made more sense than the alternative.
Fenris understood not wanting to believe his words-- not wanting to believe what he had seen with his own eyes. It was still strange-- still unnerving-- to hear such doubt from Hawke of all people.
He frowned. "Do you think that I would joke about such a thing?" he asked, acidity coloring his tone.
But of course, the situation was quite absurd. Something had caused this, had changed the course of history. Fenris had a sneaking suspicion that he knew the culprit.
He sighed, the flash of displeasure suddenly gone. How best to explain this?
"Meredith chose to... annul the Circle. We fought, in defense of the mages. In the end she was... corrupted. It drove her mad, then killed her."
