Ah! A living person⊠and what was she reading? Oh dear⊠that wasnât something someone of her age should be reading. Seeing as how she hadnât reacted to his presence yet, he moved over to hover behind her.
âY-our father would be displeased to discover you reading that.â
Clara jumped, and deflated when she recognized him. One could only relax so much in front of a ghost, even one they had seen before.
ââŠI-If I am old enough to marry,â she argued, softly. âThen I am old enough to read this, I thinkâŠâ
She would be sixteen this year. While it was normal for Nohrian girls to marry in their late teens, or even their early twenties, sixteen was the youngest permissible age. Knowing that she would soon be old enough to be trusted with such a monumental decision made her do a lot of thinking about her lifeâŠ
"I... see. If I... may. W-why are you reading this then?" He asked in his whispery voice. It was odd though to see someone come into this part of the archives to read. He usually had it to himself as this was one of the few areas on the castle where the other ghosts didn't bother him.
