favorite month of the year and why?

There isn’t like a Number One month of the year to me that I look forward or that I could say with confidence is my favorite month, but I suppose October is very nice :) October 2024 was one of the happiest times of my life, and that period has kinda colored Octobers in general to me (in a very positive way). I also enjoy autumn a lot and October is when the leaves get beautiful here!

atm I’m leaning towards maybe typing. My brain is so tired and that feels the easiest lol

Genuinely anything about anything I’m very interested in. Lately me and a coworker have been yapping to each other about Marvel which has been so fun. I’ve realized I have a tendency to gasp really loudly whenever someone brings up one of my Interests to me irl XD It makes me so happy to talk about and I have so many thoughts! Ask me why Johnny is such a good character! Ask me why Steven Grant is spectacular autism representation! Ask me about Ghostbur lore! Ask me to explain Loki’s convoluted storyline in the MCU! Ask me about hockey!

I am not picky about questions related to my interests but at the same time I feel like people irl don’t often talk to me about them :( BUT at lunch today, me and a group of classmates all started loudly discussing Star Wars and Wild Kratts and I could feel my mental state rejuvenating by the second.

You keep posting about The Place Beyond the Pines and it intrigues me but I know nothing about it. Care to sell a curious observer on this movie?

Gasp okayokayokay. YES!

I had actually never ever heard of the movie until a few months ago, and I only discovered it because I was specifically looking for movies starring Ryan Gosling XD I loved his performance in Project Hail Mary and wanted to see what other things he was in!

The Place Beyond The Pines is a drama/thriller split into three parts, each focusing on different character(s). It’s a somewhat difficult movie to talk about without giving away spoilers, as each section of the movie relies on the other sections, but spoiling the first section gives away So Much even though it explains the other two sections XD

The movie tackles extremely intense and emotional topics and handles them extremely well (imo). It’s probably the most upsetting movie I have ever seen, and I mean that positively, because that’s exactly what the movie is trying to do. It is a hard watch though, and even though it’s one of my favorite movies, it isn’t one I can watch often at all.

The movie is about fatherhood, and the difference between a good and a bad father, and it’s about corruption within a police department, and it’s about crime and why some people choose to do things like rob banks, and it’s about generational trauma, and it’s about love and commitment and trying, and it’s about being absent and leaving a hole in your loved one’s lives, and it’s about motorcycles and ice cream and mechanics and stolen drugs from a pharmacy and printed out photos. It’s a beautiful, beautiful movie, and it’s also a deeply heartbreaking movie. It feels very real.

It’s R rated for language (very very frequent F-bombs) and also violence, although it is not a gory movie in the slightest. The violence is not frequent, and when it is there, it feels very purposeful. There’s two scenes that are somewhat sexual, but nothing explicit is shown.

In short: it is a beautiful beautiful movie but also a very very heavy movie, and not one I’d recommend to everyone. I absolutely loved it, 11/10 stars, and even I can only watch it very infrequently and only when I’m in a really good mental state XD
