downside of being able to lucid dream is that sometimes when something horrific starts happening dream-me will just start making fun of how whatever's going on is overdone and tropey instead of actually running from the horrors

genuinely the thing that kills me the most about ribbit is how everything that happened to her re: jax was a tragedy that could have only happened in the circus. your best friend pulling away from you and leaving you feeling isolated from your friend group is a heartbreaking experience, but it's a survivable one when you have an entire world other people to reach out to for support and new connections. within the closed-off five person world of the circus it became a death sentence.

#tadc spoilers #tadc finale spoilers #tadc #i have a lot of feelings about ribbit in general but this is the one that's making me pace around my room clawing at the walls the most #do i think jax's actions were directly to blame for ribbit's worsening mental state and eventual abstraction? absolutely yes #do i think jax or anyone else had any way of knowing that was a possibility before it actually happened? absolutely no #they were all operating as if they were still in the real world re: their understanding of social dynamics up to that point #only kinger had seen abstraction in person before and he was in no mental state to tell them + caine wouldn't have brought it up #in the aftermath ragatha decided it was her job to be friends with everyone and keep things positive at the cost of her own wellbeing #and jax decided to lean into her worst behaviors and pretend that nothing was real and therefore didn't actually matter at all #i'm ill about them your honor
