So sad that people are suddenly switching up on Simon thinking of Grace as an angel/savior😔😔 yes sometimes it's written without depth and reduces the characters to stereotypes but that can be said for all characterization!! all ideas have potetial to be either rlly good or rlly bad depending on how much nuance they're given eeeeeeeee

Simon inadvertently dehumanizing Grace for a while because he idolizes him in an unhealthy way is where its atttttt someone gotta talk to me about them

"From Eden" chapter 7: "Phobia"

"Do you think," Ryland began slowly, "that if I was freaking out, you could hold me down?" Simon opened his mouth. Closed it. "Um. Maybe." He sounded uncertain, which was completely fair. Ryland probably looked insane, too; he was pretty sure he was visibly sweating. -- Rocky implements mandated meal times. Simon grapples with his version of his savior. Grace grapples with being scared.

Chapter 7 is posted! The fic is over 40k words now!

its so funny that writing gets harder when you get better at it. back when i sucked i didnt care if i wrote cliches or had bad grammar but now that im better word choice is a matter of life and death and if theres anyway awkward syntax i must. fix it like wow this is not how its supposed to work

Did a thing in From Eden chapter 7 based on the notion that Simon is BAD with computers and tech. I know people love him as an engineer, but I personally really like the exact opposite based on his reactions to tech and reading manuals for operating machinery in the movie. He seems like more of an artistic person to me than a mechanically or mathematically inclined one.

Chapter 6: Hunger Strike

Summary:

After how angry Grace had been over the last few Earth-weeks, and the explanation that Grace had given him, Rocky had thought it would be okay, or at the very least, didn't think that it would get worse. It was, though—whatever was happening was getting worse. --- Monitoring the health of an alien species is not Rocky's area of expertise, but he tries it anyway. He isn't happy with the results.

Currently doing base-level research on DNA mutations and how it functions and shows up in blood cells for From Eden. I’ve decided to implement Simons’s mutations, and that means more research YEOWCH. I’m currently also compiling a list of the mutations that I want to start showing up in the next few chapters

Hey!! I don't have an a03 to comment on From Eden directly. But I need to tell you how much I appreciate you being (I think) one of the only people I've seen acknowledging Simon having ARS! He is so ridiculously irradiated in canon, he "deserves" a little radiation in fan creations as a treat. Thank you! (I say deserves jokingly. That man needs a break lol)

Thank you so much aaaaa and yeah lmao it's what he gets. I've seen a few where he has ARS, but they're few and far between--i think mostly because it's a lot to deal with. Even I significantly lowered his dose of radiation to keep him safer. I'm really happy you're enjoying my take on it! :}
