The pumpkins on the tree were not mere pumpkins. Each had a face sliced in it, each face was different. Every nose was a weirder nose, every mouth smiled hideously in some new way. A thousand grimaces and two times a thousand pairs of fresh cut eyes. Each blink held the remnant holiday spirit of years gone by.

Me on the left, Paul and Lisa. My Mom made all our costumes by hand, notice the crow on my hat, she made that too. The worst part was the burlap mask had no lining so my face itched the whole time trick or treating. It was very competitive between us as to who would get the most candy that day.
