So, I made a creation myth...
Wanted to give my fantasy OCs more of a world, so what better way to start than with the ones who built it:
Before the planes... before time and space and matter... there was the sleeping being beyond reality. The formless ocean of cosmic void. In the common tongue, it is Rahazi - who bore children in its eternal slumber that would form the world.
Calaghal - The Flesh of the Earth
Rahazi's firstborn; a mindless primordial of teeth and flesh. Many of his brethren that slunk from the void were devoured by his ever-increasing size until he was eventually slain by the survivors that grew to maturity, led by Esseroth.
The embodiment of the sky and the heavens; twin brother of Someroth - the darkness. A headstrong, proud being. He and his younger brother, Arigol (the sun) constantly chase his sister Someroth and her children, the Darali (the stars) - creating the day-night cycle.
The embodiment of darkness, who assisted her twin Esseroth in slaying their elder brother. Fearing the beastly nature of her brother could not be tamed, Someroth fled with their children, the Darali - led by their younger sister, Margite (the Moon).
Brightest of all gods and embodiment of the sun. Devoted to his older brother, Esseroth - Arigol leads the chase to capture his elder sister and her family.
Embodiment of the moon and caretaker to the Darali, Margite leads the Darali around the world, constantly turning to see how close Arigol is to her - which is why the moon's face turns.
The myriad of children Esseroth and Someroth had after the death of Calaghal. They are in constant chase with their mother and aunt. Though some have fallen and have been brought down to the mortal planes.
Hemodon - the Mother Goddess
One of the Darali who descended to the carcass of Calaghal and tasted his still-warm flesh, giving birth to gods across the day-night cycle with each having a domain tied to either the light or the dark depending on when they arose.
She created the home of the gods, the Mother Tree, where they reside at the top and where the righteous souls go when they die.
Cindergoth - the Corruption
Another of the Darali, who desired a portion of the new kingdom that Hemodon created for herself. His creations, however, were malformed and hideous due to the bitterness in his heart, which displayed itself in his children. These monsters included dragons, demons and other such nightmares that plague the world.
The Day-Born are six gods that were born under the light of day when Hemodon gave birth. Most were eventually thrown into the Haunt by their children, the Nine and their siblings, the Night-Born after they were driven mad by Cindergoth.
Far more primal and vicious than their nocturnal siblings; some believe this and their easy sway into Cindergoth's control was due to the underlying influence of Arigol's burning fury.
Schragga: Goddess of the forests
Muirach: Goddess of the oceans
Temprous: God of the winds
Those born from Hemodon during the night. Far less brutish than the Day-Born, but also more eldritch and unwelcoming.
Ragnas - Lord of the Haunt
Second-born of the Night-Born who takes the form of a giant spider and ruler of the Haunt; the dark cavernous realm beneath the Mother Tree. He traps the insane Day-Born deep in his nest where he and his children feast on the souls of the wicked.
Yalae - Mistress of the Cold
One of the few Night-Born to join Sindergoth and attempt to plunge the world into an endless winter. She was struck down by her own daughter Alyda, whose battle raised the earth and bore the mountain ranges.
The second-youngest of the Night-Born, commanding the realm of sleep to let the newly-birthed beasts and mortals rest. He would reside in the realm of sleep to spin the dreams of mortals, eventually teaching some other gods the power of illusion. He is a very private and flighty god who rarely converses with his family, let alone mortals.
Darga - Spirit of Vengeance
The last of the Night-Born, and the goddess of divine retribution - enacting punishments to mortal sins or great crimes done by mortals. She and Ragnas mated to create the Ragni, the giant spiders that exist in the Haunt with Ragnas and feast on the souls of the wicked.
The children of the Day and Night-Born who usurped power over their parents, following their corruption at the hands of Sindergoth and threw them into the Haunt.
Alyda; Goddess of winter, winds and mountains
Seldrina; God of love, summer and desire
Kalatan; Goddess of spring, fertility and forests
Hairsta; Goddess of autumn, harvest and hunting
Tryssadine; God of creativity, wisdom, the wild and the arts
Strachus; The god of war, fire, blood and fear
Metrus; The god of balance, family and oceans
Clomach; The goddess of magic, wealth and trickery
Nalta; Goddess of health, age and time
There are also some minor gods that float around too. Some notable examples are:
The Ragni; the nameless and countless spider children of Darga and Ragnas that exist in the Haunt
Aeo; the voice of the Nine and messenger of omens
Psenra; the god of the night air and of plagues
The Fell; the spawn of Cindergoth - monsters and demons, some residing on earth... others in the Hells below
Tarrus and Sahla - the first Mortals
The first mortal beings were created by Hemodon as a gift for her son Charnus, who lamented that the animals he presided over were unable to appreciate the world the gods had crafted. Charnus doted on these beautiful immortal creatures, to the point that they grew petulant and disrespectful.
Many are unsure what species they were, with many debating if they were elves, human, orc etc...
