TW: arachnophobia
Ragnas; the god of the Haunt; the underworld where all wicked souls go and are fed upon by Ragnas' countless brood - given to him after he mated with Darga, goddess of vengeance.
One of the Night-Born, the more cthonic of the gods, Ragnas is the least 'human' of his siblings - appearing as a giant spider and staying within his hovel deep within the roots of the Mother Tree.
A staunch purveyor of justice, Ragnas is solitary and stalwart in keeping the deranged Day-Born deep within his caverns lest they return and his webs are filled with the screams of the damned.
He despises the Lower Planes; itching to have his children invade them and consume every devil, demon and fiend for eternity but risks a cosmic imbalance or worse, corruption from Sindergoth's lingering influence.
Ragnas knows that if his brood, the Ragni, were ever to swing to the Fell God's sway, all planes would be consumed and existence would collapse.
---
Now, I have a crippling fear of spiders, especially when they're up close - so even this vague facsimile made me uneasy but... it felt like a cool abstract enough idea that I could stomach, so I ran with it
Sindergoth; the Fell God and Spirit of Corruption - the very progenitor of evil in the universe.
One of the Darali (the stars) like the Mother Goddess, Hemodon - Sindergoth wanted to carve out a portion of Calaghal as his own but was rebuked by Hemodon.
As such, he instead created monsters instead to directly oppose Hemodon's creations; dragons, demons, vile beasts etc.
To stop Sindegoth's masses from overrunning the Material Plane, the Darali flayed Sindergoth into a vaporous essence so that he would never reform and strengthen his monsters further.
As such, his ethereal malevolence bled into existence, creating the Lower Planes.
---
In designing a god of evil, I wanted to bypass the usual Dark Lord tropes of black, spikes etc. As cool as they are, I wanted to give Sindergoth more a form akin to his former status as a star god.
He's statuesque, like marble - which also harkens to a lot of right-wingers and bigots who use Greek statues in their profiles. Hiding behind these sculptures while spewing venom.
I also used MTG's Phyrexians as an influence, a lot of white and red with muscle and sinew hiding under the pristine marble armour. There's also Diablo's Lilith for the horns and the blood-soaked robes. And the tar on his hands are like Lucifer's feet in Constantine.
Luca Driftwood; the shifter cabin boy of the Century and Captain Jeanne's adopted son.
Found as a baby on a wrecked ship, the captain took the child in and raised him. Almost no keepsakes from the wreckage survived so Luca had no memory or link to who he was before being taken in.
As he grew, clothes started to become more of an issue, so the crew started sewing old burlap sacks together and Luca eventually began to learn on his own - preferring to do it himself rather than buy them.
A nice young man, if a bit naive and... noticeably dim.
write with your dick not your brain
The Mother Tree
The main cosmology of the realm that connect in Hemodon's Mother Tree, created upon the slaying of Calaghal and his reformation into the Material Plane.
Starting from the very top:
Rahazi - the Expanse
The formless vast ocean of space that all existence flows within.
Hemogard - Hall of the Gods
The highest sphere at the apex of the Mother Tree and home of the gods. Each of the gods have their own demimonde within Hemogard and only the divine have entrance to its halls.
Nimbus - the Righteous Dead
The most typical 'heavenly' plane; a land of abundance and eternal bliss that those who led virtuous paths reside.
Galaharn - the Champion's Reward
The realm of the most accomplished of mortals, from fine heroes to the gods' own Champions spend eternity in untold splendor
The Shadowfell and the Feywild
As pretty standard in the DnD cosmology as they are here. Branched off and form from the bleeding mass of Calaghal and formed around the primordial elemental planes that orbit Calaghal within the ethereal. The fractured but thankfully inert reflections of the Earth's sculpted flesh.
Calaghal - the Flesh of the Earth
The slain beast of destruction now turned material plane where all mortal beings spring from at the base of the Mother Tree
The Haunt - Den of Damnation
Ragnas' home, within the roots of the Mother Tree. He and his brood scuttle and surround the very depths of the Material Plane, catching whatever cruel soul they can lest the Lower Planes manage to grab them
The Nine Hells
The manifestation of the Fell God's cunning. The Lawful Evil that escape the Lord of Spiders fall here.
Gehenna
Sindergoth's apathy formed the callous plane of Neutral Evils.
The Abyss
And the King of Woe's savagery created the endless, chaotic writhing pits of the Abyss.
Oblivion - Beyond Creation
And outside of even Rahazi, there exists Oblivion. The Elves call it 'the Howling', the Dwarves 'Borak-krun' (the Bottomless Pit).
Some believe it is just the depths of nothingness, some don't believe in it at all... some say things lurk in there... waiting.
Musings on my war god
Strachus is the god of war, fire, blood and fear.
He is also the patron and protector of childbirth and the act of transitioning.
He sees fear as a gift to mankind; a battle to overcome to better enjoy the miracle that is life. Which is why fear can never be won over, it is the eternal war within ourselves for our own personal glory.
It is why he loathes cowardice as he sees it as surrender. We will always be afraid but to be dominated by it is an outrage to him.
We come into this world screaming, covered in the blood of our mothers and Strachus watches over both mother and child in respect.
As for transitioning, Strachus sees blood and therefore the mortal flesh as the ultimate canvas and finds beauty in all its forms: from modifications to it being rend asunder in battle. To live as your true self is the ultimate victory in the eyes of Strachus - you discard the form you are unhappy with and rise; new and emboldened.
