BIOGRAPHY
Born in the dead of a Nevada winter to Natalia Ivanov and Joey Russo in the famed city of Las Vegas, Gianna Yelena Ivanov was the product of a secret fling.
Her mother was an immigrant with no family and wayward past whom found herself working odd jobs to support herself in a new country. Her father a founder of a prominent motor gang in the area who was too charming for his own good. Their affair was fleeting but passionate and worth the few weeks it had lasted. Though, once falling pregnant Natalia knew her child would never been safe from her fatherâs enemies. In an attempt to protect both their lives, the young woman gave the child her last name and negated to tell Joey of his offspring.
Giaâs mother doted on her, praised her cleverness, and did her very best to make sure she wanted for nothing. But darkness clouded the life of Gianna Ivanov from an unfairly young age. At a mere nine years of age, her mother was murdered. Gianna had the displeasure of finding her cold body, after coming home from school, brokenly strewn across the living room floor. Her entire world laying lifelessly at her feet.
A name never uttered in their household on her birth certificate was her only saving grace from being stuck into the foster system. The child became recluse and a mute in the wake of her motherâs death. Her father did his best to make her feel comfortable despite his lack of experience with child rearing and his anger for being kept in the dark for nearly a decade. Adults looked at her with pity when they heard her story. The court mandated therapist looked at her with warranted concern and Gianna stared back with blatant indignation. She kept quiet and observed. Small enough to hide in nooks and crannies of the house she was now supposed to call home. It didnât take long for her to realize her father was involved in less than savory activities. And that the men who came to visitâthe ones she was supposed to consider her unclesâwere all apart of the same nefarious deeds. But for what ever reason, Gianna never felt afraid. She didnât trust them but she didnât fear then either.  A re-education of sorts started for the young girl as she aged. While, Joey was teaching her to be mindful of her surroundings and what having people who looked out for youâhaving a familyâmeant, she taught herself how to pick locks and the basics of first aid. He taught her self defense and she taught herself how to dislocate her thumbs to get out of handcuffs. He taught her how to shoot a gun at fifteen and she taught herself how to hot wire a motorcycle. It wasnât long before the men aptly started referring to her as piccola fenice or little phoenixfor her tenacity and obvious willpower despite her tragedies. Gia made her first kill at seventeen. Eight years, after the death of her motherâs case was left cold, information came to light about her killer. Her father had no intention of telling her until it was taken care of. A retired crooked cop whoâd been paid to take care of Natalia because sheâd seen a Nevada Kings deal go down. A case of the wrong place at the wrong time. Joey hadnât expected the young woman to come into his study hours later, the barrel of her Glock 19 still warm to the touch. They stared at one another for several moments before he came around the desk and pulled her into his arms. The world stopped in that moment and moved in slow motionâŠNow, that the adrenaline had dissipated and she wasnât blinded by vengeance, Gia realized sheâd murdered someone in cold blood. Just like her mother had been. That night would be forever burned into her brain. The kill that gotten her clapped on the back and told good job from members when they heard. They told her she was strong. But that first kill broke something inside of herâŠAnd her wonder if wasnât as good of a person as she thought she was.  It spiraled from there. Gianna realized that despite the wretched feeling of having her past revisited, she realized she enjoyed it far more than she should. At twenty, Gia got a job at Paradise club as a part time dancer as something to do to fill her free time much to her fatherâs disdain. The young woman quickly found that she was good at it, helping her find confidence in her body and sexuality. It also gave her access to someone of the most sought after men in Vegas. It made them easy pickings. By twenty-two, sheâd also taken up the job of bartender, added another 7 to her kill list. Ten years later and Gianna has become known for her sharp tongue and sharper claws. Sure sheâs an angel but phoenix wings are just as deadly.
