Ever since I was a child, I have got this intense excitement whenever field trips, out of towns, GSP campings, climbs, and out of country-events are announced by my teachers, scout masters, or from my parents.
My intense eagerness includes packing my bag over and over again, day dreaming, and thinking what will happen during the occasion. I even have hard time sleeping the night before each event.
For this “final climb,” it was 10 p.m. when I officially started packing my stuff. I gathered everything and chose what clothes to wear. While packing, I kept on imagining on the turn out of this day – what is going to happen.
I imagined myself in the bus with my friends. I figured out that I will be reaching the summit or the peak of Pico de Loro with my dear classmates. I also envisioned that I will be coming home tired but happy because this was supposed to be my 4th summit for the year 2015.
However, I ended up sleeping at 4 a.m. and I woke up at 4:10 a.m. Masabing nakaidlip man lang. After taking a bath, I ate breakfast and double checked my things, then I left our home.
Upon my arrival, our class was almost complete. We patiently waited for the driver until around 6:30 a.m. but he did not arrive. #NasaanKaKuyaRico
Sir Bert announced that our trip will be cancelled because the driver could no longer come. And just like that – no more Pico de Loro trip!
We then transformed this trip to a bird watching activity. The class headed to the parking lot and archery range. We spotted quite a number of birds of different species. I could no longer remember the names of all the birds that we saw. But I could recall the one with a yelllow body, black head, and orange beak. It is the most beautiful bird that I have seen in UP – the yellow bird!
For now, I must content myself with bird-watching, which is also worth the time. The “final climb” can wait…
