as a certified sparks veteran what is the craziest thing you have witnessed in the fandom?
This isn't the type of question I'd normally answer on this blog since this place is really just for art, but hey, i'll have a go at it!
the time a woman next to me at a show kept trying to discreetly take pictures of my feet - i tried to give her the benefit of the doubt like "maybe she likes my shoes and is too shy to ask where they're from" but then i saw her spending half her time at the show zooming in on the brothers' shoes taking pictures of them
a fan handing Ron a sign that says "ron you're sexy please take off your shirt" with a drawing of him shirtless but he didn't heed the advice
a german woman mailing dozens of printed jpg photos of Russell for him to autograph and i think at some point he may have gotten fed up because he started drawing glasses and goatees on himself instead of signing properly
for a while, there was a confessions account themed around the band on instagram called cumonomyhouse that followed me and my friends one day that i believe has since vanished, but it had the most insanely perverse confessions imaginable and i don't know if they were joking or real or some mix of the two. one of the confessions involved turning russell mael into a "human incense holder" using his butt to burn incense. i will not get into further details. rest in peace i guess.
...oh, and the account was followed by the band's roadie.
idk if this is directly fandom-related, but when sparks played a festival a few years ago, they were directly preceded by a black metal group called deafheaven and those of us who showed up just to be there in time for sparks' set had to survive genuine moshpits. someone behind me was carried out on a stretcher. i was still wearing a brace for my carpal tunnel at the time so the moshers in my immediate vicinity were a bit more respectful.
