mollyprwtt:
as tradition would have it in the prewett household, every hogwarts year started off with a letter and a parcel sent from home; their father being the kind of man who somehow found something that the three of them had missed while packing. this year, it seemed, the object that molly had forgotten were her muggle hair curlers. how her father had realized what the foam cylinders were for was beyond her, but molly was grateful to see the pink of them anyways as they sat in neat rows in their packaged boxing. as wonderful as a wave of the wand could be in tight situations, sometimes a girl just needed to sit back and feel pampered as time and technique did their wonder.
(…)
gathering up all the items (her box of curlers, her favourite snacks of strawberry macarons and a letter from her father) then tucking them under her arms, with a wave goodbye to her table mates and one last piece of melon popped into her mouth, molly was up and moving as she made her way towards the ravenclaw table. she had multiple stops to attend to by the time the morning was over, and to brighten up her long list, she sought to start off with her favourite.
“ gid ! ”
giving a fond roll of her eyes as she wandered close enough to realize that her brother was spaced out, she gave another call of his name (”giiiiiiiiiiiiiiid”) before plopping herself down; taking a few moments as her brother finally returned to the world of the living.
“ i can tell, you twit. i swear, one of these days you’re going to find yourself in trouble. ”
A flash of red hair { ------ a Prewett staple Gideon didn’t inherit } signalled to Gideon that none other than his sister, older by mere minutes, was sitting next to him. In her hands were a letter and a parcel, their father’s customary beginning of the year owl to make sure that his kids were getting settled into the new year at Hogwarts. A glimpse of the packaging told him that Molly had forgotten her beloved hair curlers. If their father hadn’t caught that mistake, she’d have been utterly ridiculous until she got them back. Gideon’s package consisted of some books he had talked about getting before the year started. Like usual, Gideon was the one who didn’t forget to bring something, though there was that hiccup in third year where he forgot to bring a toothbrush and Fabian still hasn’t let him live it down. If he were to forget anything, it would have been his head as his Aunt Muriel often lectured. “ I’m doing just fine, Molls, ” he muttered, rolling his eyes as he turned to her. “ What’s up, sis? Glad to find your curlers this morning? You’d have been in an absolute tizzy if you hadn’t gotten them -- and don’t try an’ tell me you wouldn’t, because you both know that’d be a lie. ”
