GMIS is celebrating Hinamatsuri on 3rd of March 2020. #Hinamatsuri is a Japanese tradition, that's celebrated for health and happiness of young girls. The word 'hina' means 'dolls' 'matsuri' means 'festival'. From the end of February to March 3, hina dolls dressed in Japanese ancient costumes are displayed on tiered platforms that are covered with a red carpet. Yesterday GMIS had an enthralling Valentine’s Day with a Disco and Dance-Off Competition! Students, teachers, and staff put on their best dancing shoes for which group could ‘groove best to the beats’. So much so that the judges were in a dilemma to decide the best out of all. The end result was a magnanimous victory to the entire school! All of us boogied and had a party time dancing to the beats of some awesome tracks played by our very own in-house DJ, Mr. Christiaan. Our celebration was also for a good cause. We asked all the students and staffs to 'show their love' by contributing a small donation for the Australian Wildlife Conservancy, to help the animals caught in the recent Australian wildfires. We are happy to report that we raised over €220! It was a wonderful and an enriching experience in having US General Consul Mrs. Jennifer De Witt Walsh at GMIS on 5th February 2020. Our primary section learners & teachers had an empowering Q&A session with Mrs. Walsh. It was educational, inspiring, informative and energizing that immensely did strike a chord with our enthusiastic audience. Our Grade 2 Homeroom Tutor Ms. Boniface and her creative students proudly presented their recycled portrait of the US National Emblem :The American Eagle which represents long life,honesty,strength ,wisdom,power and freedom. Mrs. Walsh is truly the personification of the Eagle who positively motivated us to soar higher in the fabric of daily life and education . GMIS celebrated United Nations' Children's Day on Wednesday the 20th of November with the Primary Section students at @winter_village_nederland Skating rink hoofddorp. Skating is a fun sport that appreciates active lifestyle plus improves posture and balance muscles coordination. In addition ,learning good sportsmanship while developing social skills and make bonding friendships with their peers and teachers are essential at GMIS.
