♡ He would not be vocal about his secret need for love, having to settle for small gestures, longing gazes, and the occasional short peck or sudden hug if he gets impatient.
♡ But when it's YOU in the mood for affection and you suddenly just cling to him, he would definitely act like he doesn't like it.
♡ He would most likely grumble beneath his breath, focusing on literally anything else but you as his cheek reddens.

♡ Secretly adores how outgoing and cheerful you are. You're the optimism to his pessimism, and even if he doesn't admit it, he needs you to balance him out.
♡ And honestly, he finds your shyness towards him to be both amusing and kind of endearing, even if it made him frown that you shy away from his subtle offers to spend time with you.
♡ Like, he'll feel envious of the other kids because they can freely feel your warmth nd stuff, and they get to witness all your bright smiles and caring gestures, while if he gets too close, you practically go non-verbal or flee.

"You should stop going out this late, idiot. My mom would kill me if anything bad happened to you." Ray scolded.
As your childhood best friend, he felt like he was responsible for you, even going as far as escorting you home during late nights. You just giggle apologetically.
"I know, I know. Sorry." You said, looking up at him sincerely as his expression softens for a small moment.
"Y-Yeah, yeah..." He said, rolling his eyes before offering you his hand for comfort, smiling faintly when you happily accepted it.
"Now, stop going out so late." He told you sternly. "Understood?"
You huff, before looking away.
"Yeah, yeah... I'll stop. Promise." You said as he nods.
"Good. Thanks."

As you continue your walk, you notice Ray being a bit... odd.
His grip tightens around your hand, his thumb drawing circles around your palm while you try not to think much of it. After all, it's just a small teasing gesture... right?
You snap yourself out of this trance once you notice Ray is leading you in a direction that wasn't towards your neighbourhood.
"Uh– Ray? Wrong way, I think." You pointed out.
"Nah, don't worry. This is a shortcut, and the park's still open." He said as he led you to wherever this path was going.
The way was a bit more filled with nature rather than buildings, the temperature being a bit colder than usual as you shiver beneath your thin sweater. Luckily, it's no longer a problem once Ray draped his jacket over your shoulders. You look up at him after he does so, cheeks slightly rosy due to what you insist is just the cold as he tries to seem unaffected by what he just did. He did it out of friendly care, right?
"Hey, what do you think would happen if a murderer found his way here? I mean, it's dark and cold... Perfect condition for anything, really." Ray said. At this point into your friendship, you were no longer fazed by his odd thoughts. But it was nice knowing he's comfortable enough to share anything with you, I guess.
"In this hypothetical question, are you the murderer?" You asked jokingly as Ray snickered.
"Nah, I'd probably be the victim. But what would you do if I were the murderer?" He asked.
"Beat your ass. Or at least try, anyway." You replied, causing him to laugh a bit.

Their conversation first started at that, soon evolving into how they became friends, and then the early stages of their friendship.
"Ah, I remember those cookies we made... they were terrible. Good times." Ray remarked as you nodded before recalling another core memory.
"Remember when we got pretend-married in kindergarten?"
Ray's eyes widen as he remembers it, smiling faintly.
"Of course I do. You were the bride, I was your groom..." He said as he looked down at his shoes.
"Mhm... and we never got divorced. That would mean that even until today, you're still my husband." You said jokingly, causing Ray to blush and laugh.
"Oh god, you're right." He said, shaking his head.
"Wanna plan an anniversary for it? It is December 13th, after all." He said, todays date being the date he and you got pretend-married.
"That'd be nice. Happy 11th anniversary, Husband." You said lightheartedly, trying to ignore the fluttering sensation in your heart when you said the word 'husband.'
Ray chuckles, looking at you lovingly, even if his gaze was normally aloof and unreadable to many. It's really been so many years...
"To many more." Ray said, squeezing your hand in his as you smile and nod.
"God, we're really already 16...? And we were 5 when we met... Time flies, huh?" You remarked as Ray nodded.
"I'll never forget you." Ray said.
"As if I could ever forget you." You replied.
He smiles.
"Thanks, [Name]." He said, his thumbs rubbing circles on your palms again.
"No, thank you. You're always so caring and loyal, always protecting me 'nd stuff..." You said, thanking him with a smile on your face.
"Yeah, well... you can be dumb sometimes." Ray said, causing you to pout.
"Don't take it personally." He said as he patted your head.

But instead of opening it, you walk back up to Ray and impulsively kiss his cheek, soon realising what you did as you bolt inside your house and shut the door.
He puts a hand on the place you kissed him on, his cheeks burning red.
