so kind of a weird post. i literally just moved into my college dorm tuesday and got away from the family that’s been abusing me since the day i was born. and i find i no longer need to roleplay every second of my life to escape. not leaving the blog though! i love toshi to death and i still adore roleplaying.

“ – it’s nothing.” it will always be nothing. he will not show weakness. he will push forward. plus ultra. “do you feel better, now that i’ve effectively complimented you?”
“ hm. ” toshinori falls silent for a moment, as if thinking over the conversation that has passed between them. s t e a m begins to rise from his skin, and when it passes, he places a large, heavy hand on aizawa’s shoulder.
“ AS A MATTER OF FACT, IT’S CHEERED ME UP QUITE A BIT! ” he declares, that signature smile spread across his face. then he stiffens and a cough makes him double over a bit. when the steam fades once more, toshinori wipes a bit of b l o o d from his lips with a much thinner hand.
“ you get the idea. ” he mutters.

“toshinori.” it doesn’t surprise him – the mention of time. it wouldn’t surprise him to know that the man’s body is decaying. after the initial attack, and then the constant strain he’d put his body under – he thinks, briefly, of USJ. of needing to be saved. of causing him more pain inadvertently. “i’ll call you that from now on.” he presses his lips together.
he flashes aizawa a smile and offers a familiar thumbs-up in response. he begins to open his mouth to speak, but he notices just how s o l e m n the other looks, and his brow furrows instead. “ what is it? ”
toshinori is jewish thanks to his mother. she was european and came to japan in her youth for a vaction. that’s where she met his father, and they maintained a long-distance relationship until she was able to move out and be independent. at that point, she moved to japan and moved in with her lover and they began to date properly. his father was agnostic, and encouraged his mother to continue practicing judaism despite it not being very present in their home. they were married a year after they moved in together and toshinori was born three years later. because of their differentiating religious beliefs, his parents were insistent on making judaism and agnosticism present in his life but not the rulers. when he was a little older, toshinori was able to make a proper decision about his religion and committed fully to judaism.

“… right.” he says lowly. “wouldn’t yagi-sensei be more appropriate? but i can call you that. if you’d want. is it terrible to be referred to as that persona still? i thought you might want to continue to be called it.”
“ i’ve never been a fan of heavy formalities like that. ” he admits. “ ‘sides, i don’t have enough t i m e to be worried about that. ” then the slight smile falters a bit and toshinori shakes his head. “ i do, sure, but this-- ” he gestures vaguely to his gangly figure. “ --isn’t all might. this is toshinori. ”

“that’s harsh, all might, but perhaps i deserve it.”
“ you can drop the hero name, aizawa. i’m retired, remember? ” another shrug. “ i’m even trying to get the kids used to calling me ‘mister toshinori’ instead of-- ” he raises the pitch of his voice for this part. “ --‘mister all might sir!’ ” then he sighs and it’s back to normal. “ a little embarrassing to be entirely honest. ”

“you’ve been through a lot. it’s incredible that you’re still alive. perhaps you are a walking skeleton, but… there’s a truth to it. not a bad one.”
“ so--you’re definitely messing with me, right? either that or you’re an impostor. the shouta aizawa i know doesn’t compliment all might. ”
✰ AIZAWA ✰
“you’re – real like this. i don’t know. it’s more ATTRACTED than your beefy stereotype.”
“ i mean. technically it wasn’t a beefy stereotype at the start. then it got tied into my quirk. ” a shrug. “ i dunno, i get called a walking skeleton like this half the time. ”

“… … … … third cutest.”
“ okay, so it’s nemuri, hizashi, then me. ” w a i t . “ like this? i know you said you weren’t a fan of the hero form, but really? you rank this above that? ”

“you’re way above vlad. ectoplasm is also on the bottom. you’re… fourth cutest. after nezu. how’s that sound.”
“ nezu still doesn’t count though! we’re comparing human standards of cuteness and he’s not on that scale! ”

“… well. to be fair, i look like a tired mummy all the time. if that makes you feel better, all might. vlad is the worst looking of us.”
“ are you k i d d i n g ? if he’s low on the scale, then that puts me at rock bottom. ”

“listen, even when you were that muscle mayhem, you were still…” he makes a face. “the best looking of the teachers is definitely midnight, with hizashi as a close second. then, nezu.”
“ i mean look, i pretty much outright admitted i’m not cute, but you don’t have to rub it in. and nezu doesn’t count, animals are cute by default no matter how smart they are. ”

“villains don’t care about whether they’re cute or not.” um. wait. what. “full offense, have you looked in a mirror recently.”
“ hey, who said anything about villains? ” then a rather sour narrowing of the eyes. “ i mean i think i look pretty okay. ”
toshi, quietly blocking every all might fan site on the school computers: nah no one thinks i’m cute don’t look into it

why are you all obsessed with who the cutest is? you should be training.
“ it’s just a bit of harmless fun, aizawa. be grateful they didn’t include teachers, you and me would be tied for last. ”
