my boyfriend — who has never put anyone’s life before mine, including his own
does anyone honestly want me to believe that damon is going to just continue on without elena
does anyone honestly want me to believe that there is anything on this show that is going to matter to him anymore without her
after 6 plus seasons of the two of them building and growing and fighting and loving
elena made damon promise her they were forever
he did
damon salvatore, in no universe that i can ever believe to exist, will never just move on without elena gilbert
So, apparently when Bobbie says she’s finally putting herself first and she’s not risking her life anymore, she’s a badass and it’s about time.
When Elena decided to put herself first and try to find some happiness, she’s a selfish bitch who needs to gtfo.
I just want to make sure I got that right.
TVD Chicago: Erasing Foundation
The Chicago Con was the first con held after the announcement of Elena’s exit. It was a chance for the fans to see the actors’ reactions to questions and gauge the overall attitude they have towards the show and the fandom as a whole, especially after Nina’s impending departure. However, it was clear from the live-tweeting and recounts from fans who attended, that the cast was hellbent on erasing Elena’s existence and trying their hardest to promote a season where she was no longer going to be the protagonist. Yes, that might be their jobs and they were probably influenced by the CW network, but disrespect isn’t mutually exclusive with any type of promotion. It shouldn’t be excusable. Below are live tweets and the implications of what the cast/writers/network are marketing on a large scale. One of our staff members yolsfandomretreat was at the event and can vouch for it all.
What else are people supposed to ask? Ships are the main focus of this show, whether the writers want to admit it or not. It’s was what they constantly used in terms of fanservice and fanbaiting. It’s the reason for their success and trying to deny it simply creates distrust between viewer and creator.

Its not even about the bad writing
or the disrespect for the protagonist
or pretending whole story arcs never happened
or revamping established lore whenever they feel like it
or the lack of depth
or the fanbaiting
or the character regressions
or the unresolved plots
or the...
I don’t think there has been a show with as much fanbaiting and fanservice scenes, especially ooc to the point where you had to force yourself to block it out to make sense of the show because you needed it and this show never clarified nor apologized for it.
So people...
Elena Gilbert deserved better
not only is it an “elena who?” situation. it’s an “elena ew” situation. in other words, they obviously did their best to have ppl call out elena or make her look bad, so the anti-fandom would happily await next season since their fave called out that awful, evil being we refer to as elena. it’s like a one-two-three-four slap in the face to elena fans. also because literally “ELENA WHO?” who is compelled!elena? we dont know her relationship to the past/vampirism, etc. so we dont even know who she is in addition to being sidelined. i’ve said it before, but ill say it again. this was a training wheels season, getting viewers ready to have no protagonist next season. have fun, viewers next year…
if they have no qualms about throwing their protagonist (who’s btw also part/been part of two very popular, money-making, award winning ships (yup, i’m grouping SE and DE together in this)) under the bus, they’ll definitely treat your favorite character well. there’s logic in there, right?
Clarifying Our Position on Negativity
Noting how the show, show runners have failed the story we loved is not negativity. Or at least not the type of negativity that is unhealthy or irrational. That is not our objective here.
We’re trying to come together as a fandom to protect our characters from the future of this show. The cast and crew have made it clear they no longer care about the story or characters. Why should we stand back and say nothing as we watch them mistreat a story and characters we loved? The writers have sacrificed the story and characters out of greed. How is that right? Why should we just celebrate that? Nope.
It is, in my mind, NEVER okay to send death threats, etc to a cast or crew member. But, speaking with fellow fans to mourn Elena isn’t negativity. It’s healthy. It’s honoring her in a way her writers haven’t in a long time.
Also, I’d like to note that this is NOT about the actors or actresses. They are not involved with renewing this show nor are they responsible for poor writing choices. Our issue is with the show runners and The CW.
Elena’s body language ➙ 4x01 vs. 4x06 (requested by alwaysdamonsalvatore)
Elena: It's time for me to leave you, Damon. To be human like I always wanted.
Damon: A few months ago, you literally said that--
Elena: Shhh....like I always wanted.
Elena Gilbert: *wanted to stay human, didn't initially like being a vampire, but grew up and realized that she couldn't always get her way*
Elena Gilbert: *offers Stefan the chance to be human again, gives Katherine the cure*
Elena Gilbert: *decides to become a doctor and feed patients her blood so she can turn this negative thing that happened to her into a positive*
Elena Gilbert: *has come to terms with her vampirism and has come to accept the positives of it*
Elena Gilbert: *went through a lot of character development with her vampire arc*
Nina: "I'm leaving"
Writers: *make Elena suddenly be desperate for a human life, make Elena suddenly whine about wanting to be human again, make Elena go back on all the development she went through in seasons 4-6 because they were too greedy to end the show after season 6*
Matt and Elena interact for the first time in 39 episodes since season 4 and only so that he can tell her he hates vampire her and she realizes she wants babies and she can get straight hair to stereotype her. Because species = hair. Okay
What have they done to this show -.-
*elena gets over some issues* 2 seasons later in an episode when it’s convenient for plot device drama: so, ive been feeling those same issues again. for…reasons.
Reblog if the reason you fell in love with Damon Salvatore is because he fell in love with ELENA GILBERT.
I sure did.
the question is..
will Damon x Phonebook win PCO for you, Julie
