That...threw her. He didn't apologize. Not really, anyway, he didn't...he'd make grumpy sounds and then do something extravagant. One of the many flaws of his she'd had a chance to reflect on as he completely forgot she existed.
But...there it was. An apology.
"...Thank you. I'm fine. My brother had another child. How have you been?"
"You are going to have your hands full as an aunt, aren't you?" The usual even cadence of his tone gave hint to some playfulness there. Just for a moment.
"As for myself, busy. Of course I do not think there has been a month where I am not engrossed in something. I enjoy working but, even I am going to concede and say I need a break."
My Anime Aura
So, my ancient ass of 37 has watched many a show starting in 1999 roughly. VHS from Blockbuster and all that, then fansubs, etc. So I had to do this THREE times to really hammer down my anime aura lmao.

The unspoken words portrayed by her body language did not go unnoticed by Gilland. He stayed silent for a second almost fumbling with something to say -- because he felt a little guilty. Sure, Erin wandered near and far for her work and he was often quite busy. So busy though that he was unable to catch up all this time later? No. That was him overlooking things like an idiot.
"I apologize, Erin." His tone was surprisingly sincere. "But I am happy to see you and wanted to ask how you were fairing."
Strumming his fingers on the table as he looks to his GHS with mild dismay. "Why is it always something with these people..."

"I was here to visit Balan, actually. Didn't think I would actually see you since I hear you're buried up to your head in work." How funny to see someone all this time later who he had come to blows with. That seemed like a lifetime ago if not more.
"I've also been curious about the advancement of the Spyrites. Seems you two took what I had created and expanded upon it. I can't help but be a little impressed by that."
The cold has been a ceaseless, never ending barrage of bullshit for the past two weeks. He's keen on seasons but this is too much right now.
Ludger keeps his features neutral as he listens to Gilland's answer. Julius attempts to do the same, though there's a brief moment of tension when Gilland describes Alvin's old life. Ludger has a feeling what prompted the reaction, but he keeps quiet and simply squeezes his brother's hand instead.
The sight of his brother's faint smile warms his heart, granting him the courage to speak his heart.
"While I can't forgive you in someone else's place, I can say that I believe your feelings are sincere," The warm, friendlier Ludger returns with a smile and an offer to shake his head. "And so I can promise you this, Gilandor Yul Svent: as uncle of my once good friend, I'll offer my help so you can live a decent life."
"If you think that's best, I trust you, little brother," Julius feigns satisfaction, but it's all a bit too perfect to be true. Still, he makes no motion to interrupt or argue.
There was that switch up again, curious. Gilland was uncertain if he really trusted these two brothers -- or the younger one in particular with his personality shifts which appeared to come on so quickly. Then again, if he was going to climb back up the rungs of Elympios's social ladder after that spectacular fall from grace he will need the ear of people. People who came from the same social circles he used to frequent before the Zenethra incident. And perhaps thank the goddess it wasn't Bakur.
That man stuck a dagger in his back the moment Gilland even so much as turned away. Politics were always ruthless among the upper echelons, but damn if that gigantic bastard didn't act far quicker than Gilandor had expected. He still needed to remain vigilant and not do anything which would give these two an excuse to do the same -- or worse. Amber eyes briefly fell on Julius; that one right there acted more like a bodyguard for his little brother. Definitely the one he didn't want to cross first and foremost.
"Appreciated. I have become more of a black sheep in my own family than I was when I left." Which he could reasonably admit was both his own doing and the doing of whatever bullshit Bakur spread to the government.
Was it really as simple as Alvin misblaming his uncle...? Sure, hurt feelings can make you embellish crimes, but why smear the dead so harshly to someone who'll never meet the (supposed) deceased? Alas, he'd never know-- the Alvin he knew was dead, and the Fractures faded with the Trial's completion.
So... Ludger'll have to trust his gut alone.
"...Do you feel some regret using your nephew for your plans?" Ludger asks, his cold, confident tone a stark contrast from a moment ago. "Regardless of how you answer, I will guarantee one thing: as Bisley's successor, I will honor all unfulfilled promises he made to you. Anything further, that will depend on your answer."
Now he wasn't expecting such a switch up from the young man. A personality shift from mere moments ago, and such a pointed question as well. Though he would admit that most who knew Alfred, and knew him, would be remiss not to ponder that very thing. Something of which Gilandor himself had trouble placing a feeling on. "It has taken me some length of time to truly sit down with myself and reflect on our time there. Between my brother, his father's death -- his mother's condition ---" he took a second, "of course my hand in her feeling worse. I suppose the cop out answer would be that I was under stress therefore I doubled down for security." The man's tone was very matter of fact in how he was making short points on what transpired there.
"But yes, all said in done now I do regret how I utilized him. Alfred was always a playful, happy child. He was ....certainly not meant for the line of work he ended up doing."

"I assure you, Mr. Svent, if we considered you worse than our father, you would've gotten three broken hearts without hesitation. Although I'm surprised Ludger rated you a broken hear now that I noticed..."
"S-Sorry Gilland, sir. I-I just... all the stories I've heard from you didn't say very pleasant things. I know it's not entirely fair to base someone on other people's opinions, but they ar-- were my friends... It'd feel wrong not to trust them."
Right. Well, that did make some sense but he eyed Ludger momentarily before speaking. "I am sure Alfred did not leave too many details out if he did talk about his time in Rieze Maxia. There are also some situations which were not my doing, but at the time he was young and it was normal to lash out."
Though it was interesting and perhaps good, to see the brothers were alive as opposed to what very well could've happened. "I should have known better than to take your father's help when I was looking for an escape. That man almost got me killed---."
