TATTOOS The option for witches and warlocks (casters) to have tattoos has always been there. Tattoos, using special inks, help casters to focus their energies and give them some additional potencies they would otherwise be lacking if they were without (like, say, a protective rune tattooed on their ribcage would give them a little bit more immunity against attacks/offensive spells, etc.). Casters are allowed to, if they wish, get their first tattoo at the age of fifteen. It is, by no means, a requirement - a lot of witches and warlocks are not inked, and prefer to use pendants and other talismans for focus and heightened ability. However, no one is shamed for the choice of receiving a tattoo. Common tattoos among casters are, but not limited to: moon phases, plant life, animals, runes, solid bands, latin or gaelic phrases, etc. Animated tattoos are a thing, but they have to be hidden - mortals should not be able to see them! They must be coveredor subdued by magic - no exceptions!

SITE PREVIEW. | .THE COUNCIL
The Council of Fox Hall was established during the founding of of the town, and consists of five casters - the wardens of the north, the south, the east, the west, and the premier. These five members are responsible for their coven members - the protection of their community, their craft, and their way of life. The Council establishes caster law, which they are bound by oath to uphold.
Since the founding, there have always been five representatives on the council - four wardens chosen by the community, and the premier chosen by fate. For the most part, The Council has operated smoothly, keeping both casters and mortals safe for generations. However, the current premier caster has abandoned his post - due to disagreements over law, particularly in regards to caster and mortal fraternization - and there has been a certain amount of strife within the ranks since he left ten years ago.
Now, the blight has them reeling - they don’t know the cause or the cure…but they have to remain calm…for the good of the community.
...can't put me finger on what lies in store...but I fear what's to happen all happened before...

PREVIEW | FAMILIARS
Despite what you think you might know, familiars are not demons or treacherous imps meant to cause harm and mayhem. They are not "evil'' creatures, but they are more than what they appear to be.
Familiars are spirit creatures. In their true form, they are almost like wisps - they are incorporeal balls of energy that possess a bit of magic themselves, however, they become slightly more powerful if they bond with a caster (a witch or wizard).
If a familiar deems a caster a kindred spirit, they may choose to bond with that caster (whether the caster wants to be bonded or not). During this process, the familiar melds it's energy with the chosen caster, and selects it's new form based off of the combined energy. The traditional forms of familiars are the cat, mouse, ferret, hare, bat, snake, dog, or bird, though they can take on a more uncommon form (raccoon, toad, etc.). Familiars are not large, nor too exotic, of creatures - i.e. they do not get very big, and their forms are regional (no lions, tigers, bears, etc.). The most common form familiars take are that of dogs and cats, and they seem to have an affinity to, become black in color - should you be lucky enough to have a familiar bond with you, it will more than likely take the form of a cat or dog.
Familiars, when bonded, do speak the common tongue - other casters can understand them, but humans cannot, so be aware of that if you ever address your familiar in public.

Hi!! I just found this blog, and I was wondering if your site is going to have an age limit like 18+ or something else??
Hi and welcome! I'm glad you found us! Gilded Bones will observe mature themes (though members are not required to participate in anything that makes them uncomfortable), so 18+ is advised. We will not be hosted on a premium server (at least not for now) so age verification won't be required. Thanks for the question!
In case anyone was wondering, the current site setting will be present day!
If you guys have questions, or want to request previews of anything, send an ask <3
