based on that hisoka origin story (officialized by togashi) the taste of the water changes amongst transmuters

hisoka’s mentor changed the taste to bitter, and right before this part (minor spoiler) we learned how aggravated he still was decades later on not passing the hunter exam. he’s a bitter person

hisokas water ended up being sour, which ties into how hisokas character should leave a sour taste in your mouth: he’s unpleasant, off kilter, uncomfortable, hair-raising and poignantly so. hisoka is a sour person

so if the taste of the water represents in a way who the transmuters are as people

how to describe the core of killua zoldyck, heir to the assassination business, with fingernails sharp as knives and a long kill list to his name, taught and taught again to only act as agent of darkness and abused for years on end?

something i really appreciate abt killua’s trauma is that it’s so clear to his friends once they find out what’s actually going on but it’s still genuinely a source of conflict for him. they’re like “your family literally chains you up in a torture dungeon. there’s a torture dungeon in your basement and they starve and electrocute and torture you in there. you should not feel bad” and he’s like “yeah but my family’s circumstances are different. we’re different from other families.” and his friends are like Bro. it’s insanely real. he’s 14 btw
