University Study on Sexism in Doctor Who
āFun fact, Roseās Bechdal test score would have been in the 80ā²s were it not for the episodes Moffat wrote during her run.ā
Guys, really, you should click the link.Ā
āIronically, the woman who is often propped up as proof that Steven Moffat is, in fact, not a sexist was one of the worst in terms of the Bechdel test and overall independence of thought and character. While maintaining an average speaking time, the episodes she is in only pass the Bechdel Test 57% of the time, and she herself only passes 42% of the time.Ā She alsoĀ never passes it on her own after Series 5.Ā It is also important to note that Riverās āpassesā barely scraped by this test. Her passing conversations were always around three or four lines of exchange total, limited to one per episode, and were always in the presence of/with the Doctor.ā
āWhile both Rose and River had their share of arguments with The Doctor, how they handled them was drastically different. Rose argued when she had moral issue with his choices, stood her ground, defended others, and overall became the moral compass of their relationship. River rarely if ever, disagreed on issues or principles. If asked to do something she disagreed with she would just yell, āI hate you,ā and then do it. Her mentality toward The Doctor can be summed up with a conversation she has with Amy in series 6. The Doctor has left them with instructions Amy does not want to do, but River tells her, āWeāre going to as The Doctorās friends always do. As theyāre told.ā I think I just heard Rose, Martha, Donna, Romana, and Sarah Jane slap you. When it comes to River Song, it seems that audiences were fooled into thinking she was a strong female character because of her propensity toward violence, and some admittedly excellent monologues.ā
Also, can we just celebrate the fact that Donna passed with a 100% score?
Honestly, I am not surprised.
A demon gets assigned to a human to persuade them into doing bad deeds to get them into hell. And it starts getting real frustrating when this human is the imbodiment of sunshine and just keeps. Being. Nice.
ā...but of course, thanks to the doctrine of Original Sin, the human went to Hell anyway,ā Old Uncle Scorchsnozzle continued. āIndeed, my visible and quite theatrical frustration was a ploy from the beginning, to assure the human of their own inherent Goodness, and so lull them into a self-satisfied complacency. It was nothing, really; there is no human more susceptible than the sort of amicable egotist who believes thatĀ āNicenessā is identical to Virtue, or that refraining from the most obvious and unpalatable of evils is identical to doing good, or that a sunny disposition is enough to alleviate all ills.Ā
āThey are securely in Hell now,ā said Uncle Scorchsnozzle, smiling over his tea,Ā āas sunny and as unrelentingly agreeable as ever. And quite the asset, if I may boast. For as all sunshine and no rain makes a desert, their intensity is a torment to all other souls around them. And I think they must know, in their heart of hearts, that they are damned; but the standards that carried them through life can bear no crack in the facade, no self-reproach or regret, for fear of being wicked. And so they are determined to be agreeable even in the face of their damnation. Itās ... nice,ā mused Uncle Scorchsnozzle, and took a sip of his tea. āVery, very nice indeed.ā

This youtuber got herself braids a few weeks ago and got so many comments on how and why it was wrong. She educated herself and even made a research on the history of braids, dreads and cornrows.
She posted a video where she removes her braids and explains to other Korean people the importance of these hairstyles. Sheās a good example of how someone can learn from their mistakes and spread awareness.
Donāt hate on people who ignorantly appropriate cultures. Try to educate them with facts!!

Hermione has some moments that are pretty darn relatable in Prisoner of Azkaban⦠š¬Ā
A big shoutout to my patrons for voting for me to make a comic of a scene that wasnāt in the books! They suggested I try drawing a scene that was mentioned, but never shown, so I drew this scene of Hagrid helping Hermione through a particularly rough time in PoA! I hope you guys enjoy! š
