OH MY GOD. OKAY. Hi, I normally don't send asks because I'm anxious about it (for reasons unknown to me) but I just saw your WoF designs and OUGH???? AUGH??! Impeccable.
Anyway, you mentioned space-themed descendants and had me reeled in. I love space. Can I get some details on them please?
OH MY GOSH???? HIll HELLO!!! I'm really glad you sent this in, it made my day! welcome welcome : D
FIRST THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS ASK and for thinking my designs are cool i looove playing with patterns and colors <33
SECONDLY thank you for asking about my fantribe! i'll put their lore in below the cut ^_^
FOR REFERENCE! janus (black and bright blue) is a stellwing, so she's a pretty good approximation of what they look like. stellwings are also the native name of the tribe, but those on the dragon planet call them starwings!
they're descended from a nightwing animus [name undecided] who lived shortly after the scorching (~5000 years ago). in a world so full of possibility following the dragons' overtaking of humans, those around her during her lifetime seemed to think anything was possible — and this sentiment extended to that animus herself.
from the moment she'd hatched, she had been fascinated by the moons, but wrought with longing for the stars. as a dragonet, she mapped the night sky as she saw it, drew endless inky illustrations of celestial bodies. she felt she belonged with them, but she was bound by her devotion to her family and tribe to live on the dragon planet, but as her loved ones slowly began to fade away, she could feel her tether slipping.
it was a gentle, quiet night when she finally left the bounds of the dragon planet for good. enchanting herself to have the wingpower to break gravity, to resist the flames and pressure of her ascent, and to be able to live among the stars, she launched herself from the earth into the sky.
there, it was silent. cold. and she was content, but she was lonely. she had never been an avid magic user in her life, and the fragments of her cracking but soothed soul gave her the opportunity to make companions, to create a legacy that would love the stars as much as her.
they originally looked just like the average nightwing, though born of animus magic and made to withstand space. the creation of this new tribe's first generation, though, wrecked the last pieces of the animus's soul, and she didn't live to see the arrival of the second generation.
throughout the years, though the tribe was preserved by magic, they began to separate from pyrrhian nightwings. they grew taller and thinner, losing their scales to a smooth, velvety exterior, and most of their wing structure due to their lack of use — if not to travel the stars and leap from asteroid to asteroid, then they lay idle. in the darkness, they developed glowing patterns unique to each dragon, the same feature on horns and talons and the insides of their mouths for visibility. they survived on animus magic alone, never far from the source. and with a founder who had been alone before her arrival, the dragons on the main planet had no idea this tribe even existed. and it would be hard to communicate, anyway; five thousand years of utter seclusion will make one hell of a language barrier.
enter janus! my baby girl <33 she's a stellwing dragonet who crash landed in pyrrhia due to being sucked into the dragon planet's gravitational pull. she landed near a noncanon location (garden grove academy) and was taken in by the students and staff who resided there. the magic protected her in her fall, but she's enchanted to survive space, not a planet's gravity. she lived because of these enchantments, but suffered a lot of muscle atrophy and a shrinking/compressing form, so she's smaller than the average dragon of her age. she finds herself right back in her ancestor's claws — yearning for the stars, but this time she doesn't know why. the fall obliterated her memory, leaving her only with the knowledge of her own name and where she comes from; she knows nothing of her family, her friends, etc. she's stuck on the dragon planet, and has to forge her own way forward.
i should also mention that animus powers are RARE for stellwings. they have evolved to a point of being autonomous outside of the magic — it's evolution and ancient posthumous founder enchantments keeping them alive and well. a few bloodlines have strong magic but as it is, it's unlikely to find a stellwing with animus powers. janus doesn't, and her family doesn't! none of them possess any mind reading, future sight, or other nightwing-specific features :3
HOLY YAP! i literally can't talk about this tribe in short form i love them too much for that ❤️❤️ if you made it this far i hope you enjoyed! world and character building are my jammmm i love them so mcuh
