Server is 18+ (not for sexual reasons). I would like this to be a place for super special and dignified GW discussion. This is my first Jojos server so Idk what to expect! Hopefully all goes smoothly!
Please put an intro message in the server, then I will give you access!
Augh I apologize for how much I switch up reading direction. I promise I’m not just trying to be like “sugoi anime.”
The difference is that when it’s a single image, or a scroll type thing (which for me is multiple single images) I do left to right.
But for actual comic pages, ones where there are multiple panels in one row, my brain wants right to left. This is cause I pretty much learned paneling and comic page composition from jojos. So that’s the rule of thumb.
I am a long time lurker of your account in specific, because I am a fan of VA but not really in the fandom space. I was wondering; are there any other Fugo x Trish shippers, or am I alone in this rarepair? I enjoy your BruGio, BTW.
It's certainly far from the rarest rare pair! I think besides Fugo/Giorno, he is generally shipped with Narancia/Sheila/Trish.
I've seen @/adorableanimus and @/invdrei post about it, they're both active.
I don't really ship much romantically myself, as you may know.
Funnily I expected Trish/Mista to be a much bigger thing when I first watched GW years ago? (Zero fandom interaction at that point. I also expected Brugio to be like default, huge and no brainer, but alas!) They seemed to have some chemistry toward the end, besides Mista being clearly attracted to her, I'd assumed Araki was implying they'd end up together.
I'm not a Mista/Trish truther or anything, like not an active shipper, just what I assumed would happen, and would be popular in the fandom...
So was Giorno in the Female Bruno comic trying to hug her??? Or was he trying to do the devil tango with her on her lap? Did Giorno know what he did was kinda innapropriate?
Imo there’s very little change in my narrative or characterization in the event Bruno was female. Though what is different would be societal norms and past experience.
I don’t think Giorno would straight up climb into male Bruno’s lap to cuddle with him, especially so soon post-canon. Mayybee if the relationship was long established… though unlikely/uncommon. (Gio wouldn’t want to be seen as weak or childish in front of his equal and lover).
Like I said in my other post, Giorno's feelings may be… complicated. Gio knows he likes her, and is comfortable around her, and she gives him warmth in return (unlike his actual mother). (Plus fem Bruno shares his values and dreams, is a very capable, intelligent person that he respects.) Unfortunately, that leads Gio to subconsciously expect Bruno to fulfill the roles of both mother and girlfriend (which she may not be emotionally equipped for).
As I said in a comment, Gio didn’t intend to come onto her. (He doesn’t even really have a grasp on his feelings yet). She didn’t give him any adverse reactions, responding positively, embracing him in return. He got too comfortable, too amorous, and got carried away. Things happened pretty quickly, he wasn’t thinking, he didn’t notice what he’d done until after, and was very embarrassed and ashamed.
Well, there were no real winners in that interaction there.
I made a female Bruno comic on a whim! This is Post-canon.
additional context
(The rest is under the cut due to being a bit suggestive. )
After this, I imagine it's a very slow burn, Bruno realizes Giorno isn't just sexualizing her like the other men did, and he genuinely respects and likes her as a person. It develops slowly from a close friendship and partnership to romantic later on.
But I've also drafted a sequel comic with a different, more toxic end :)
During finals hell, I thought I was losing interest in GW. But now that I am on break, my heart is overflowing with love for brugio and the GW gang. You may not have seen everything yet, but I am nonstop drawing!!
This is going to sound like a silly question, but are you Italian?
God I wish but no. Not even close. I just have a huge boner for accuracy so I clumsily try and translate stuff into not even Italian but the Neapolitan dialect. I'd like to get a better understanding, anyway.
I'm not like Araki though, who is like an Italiabou. (I'm weird about a different country.) Beautiful place tho, I've been to Rome. I was called pretty a bunch and an Italian man yelled at me in front of everyone in a restaurant for asking for a cappuccino at 6pm.
If I have the fortune of going back I will go to Naples and go to the real plaza where brugio declared their undying love.
Imo fem bruno is still 179cm. Average height for comedic effect. If this was the case, he’d lean down to her level (to show respect).
Below is some speculation abt what if Bruno was a woman.
If Bruno was a woman, though I think her design wouldn’t change, external societal factors would certainly affect some aspects of her dynamic with Giorno, especially on his end.
To be clear, their actual actions and dynamic wouldn’t change, but the external societal implications of Bruno’s womanhood would be what puts a cloud of implications over what was the normal GW male Bruno and Giorno dynamic.
Giorno’s weird feelings around women would be very relevant. (I don’t consider him misogynistic in a modern alpha male incel sort of way. Besides cultural and time period factors, it's just a general unease/disinterest stemming from lack of attraction (demisexual) and Mother issues.)
Firstly, with canon Brugio, I think Giorno would recognize the unusual attachment and strong feelings, maybe during the canon timeline, maybe post-canon. But he may take some time to perceive it as romantic, both with him not having felt it before, and the fact Bruno is a man.
However, with female Bruno, it is the expected thing, with her being a woman. Even prematurely, if his feelings aren’t even romantic, or romantic yet. Gio may think “I have strong feeling for a a woman for the first time. This must be romantic, so that’s what it’s like.” She’s the first woman Giorno even likes.
Then he'll want to make her happy, maybee?? (just a thought, half baked) maybe not?? going through the generic motions of hetero courting (even if not expecting to date her), because he sees her as a girl now, and everything that surrounds that, even if irrelevant to their relationship. (not for long)
Or maybe he will always see Bruno as an ally first, and not go that direction, and their dynamic develops naturally?
Also… I have made it very clear I don’t see Bruno as a parental figure… but I think in a scenario where Bruno is female, it might be different. Not her actually being more maternal, but rather what Giorno’s subconscious ends up projecting onto her.
He was neglected by his maternal figure, not directly abused (still abuse ik) but he may still crave that affection. Bruno believes in him, supports him, finds him important, and there is that intensity between them. Giorno would feel both attachment and possible attraction, but the fact Bruno is a female may get his wires crossed too, and expect more than Bruno gives, craving it subconsciously.
I think female Bruno would be even less receptive to any romantic advancements. Male Bruno would only be disbelieving of it, having a very low opinion of himself. But as a woman, she might have been dealing with men for nearly a decade, already on guard. She sees any attention as ulterior motives, and something to be wary of, lacking any actual feelings.
It may actually upset her, that Giorno, someone she adores a lot, seems to be no different, reducing her to that, when he had treated her like a person initially. (If you’ve ever had a guy friend come onto you, you knowwwww). She thought he was different, and now he’s no different than the other men. Even if he’s young, and it may be innocent infatuation, he is reducing her to a woman.
(Comic coming soon!!! ACTUALLY!! Because it’s holiday I can work on it ALL DAY!!!)
What do you think Bucciarati's unresolved need is? As, in a foundational level. What's the main thing he lacks that makes him himself?
I am flattered you like my word salads! Sometimes I don’t know if I’m shouting into the void, and my time would better spend drawing fanart, or making a fic that covers the same ideas, but in a more engaging narrative format…
Here is my unedited thoughts:
I didn’t know how to answer this at first. I have to admit, the wording is a bit cryptic haha. My first thought was “chivalry.” But that might just be self indulgent.
However, that does tie into a bigger point of his character. He doesn’t need to be needed, characters already do, Narancia is pretty dependent on him, and Abbacchio puts him on a pedestal. To be needed is more responsibility weighing him down. He has had SO much pressure on him for so long (even before mafia he was self-sacrificial), not being able to be at ease for long ever. (Aughhh his backstory is so tragic and compelling I can’t articulate myself with it even. It makes me feel things, I literally just watched it with a friend hours ago). I might read into this deeper than sensei even intended, as per usual. I always come into this with the knowledge its usually not that deep meta-wise.
As I see it, Bruno has things he is conscious about wanting, and things he doesn’t know he needs. He likes to be useful. (Of course, usefulness = survival, it wasn’t his choice).
If I may go off on one without a million sources, I just get the sense Bruno needs to just, for once in his life, have the pressure taken off him. (Which is kind of what Giorno gives him, regardless of romantic interpretation, that is what happens in canon. Multiple times the team takes note of Giorno’s leader-ness, and when Bruno is at a loss, Giorno is the one who cuts in and gives a solution. Bruno no longer has to have the weight of the team on his shoulders. I feel like mentally, this has a big effect on Bruno, making him revere Giorno even more.)
Tangent. Okay, well, I think Bruno is past the point where he could be babied. I think if you try to mommy him, he’d just feel awkward, and skeptical. He’s been an adult too long. However, as my first thought was, chivalry!!!
Think of it. He’s been treated like a tool and a piece of garbage for so long, living like a rat to scrape by and survive. In the series, characters will straight up lie and say he’s ugly.
If he was treated with chivalry, with dignity, I think that would really warm his soul. That, and having the weight taken off him. He no longer needs to be the leader, have all these responsibilities. That and being loved unconditionally, being told he is virtuous, his past actions do not define him, he has always had a good heart, that would really make him feel weak emotions he’d had buried for so long. (That is brugio to me…)
Essentially, he doesn’t need to constantly be on guard, the weight is off him, and he is loved. (I think his teammates love and respect him of course, clearly, but there is the weight of responsibility for them, dying for them etc, dynamic is different).
That said, I don’t think Bruno would like to be babied at all. I think even with good intentions, if he was told “I will take care of you, you don’t need to worry about anything, you can just live in my mansion and I won’t tell you anything that’s happening in passione” would NOT sit well with him. It’d just lead to paranoia and an inherent feeling of unease. He’s just too suspicious, and he cannot just let his guard down like that. He would still need his independence, and control over his own life, it's an integral part of his character. He would still want to be respected, if he was treated like arm candy, that would also repel him.
I suppose the previous dynamics could work (arm candy, mansion trapped (albeit beloved?) trophy wife), but its an elseworld scenario that would need slow burn. It’s not true end to me tho.
Not everything is about Brugio, but I think in this regard, within the part, we see that Gio does in fact give Bruno what he needed to an extent, even if it’s not interpreted as romantic.
