“Oooohhh you think a blue moon would be freaky, what if it were a Blood Moon? That’s as spooky as it could ever get. Like that one a few years back that was red and a supermoon at the same time! So it was big AND red.” Hwan stretched his arms out as he spoke, the enthusiasm bleeding out on the topic. “At least a real blue moon would be…calming because it’s a cool color. But a red, blood moon? It…It would make a Halloween night like a grand stage for a horror movie. As much as I love the moon, I think something like that would keep me in the house for days even after Halloween.”

     “That would be insane, we wouldn’t even be able to escape to space because it would slap you right in the face y’know?” He chuckled. Though at the mention of the red supermoon he’s sent back to his time in Paris amongst beautiful strangers enjoying the presence of something so incredible. “I don’t know mate, there’s something predictable about a blood moon on Halloween. Like you almost expect the end of time. But a blue moon on halloween night with all the lore and power already behind it. It’s a bit nerve wracking.”

“Neeehh, they’re calling this next full moon phase a “blue” moon, but I have to share the disappointment that it won’t really be blue…” Hwan shakes his head, body swaying as he continues. “It’s only called that because its a rare occasion when there is more than one full moon that occurs during a month. It’s also the only time we’ll have a double moon on the lunar calendar this year! How nice, eeh? For the moon to feel so sure of herself that she spoils us with her beauty twice in one month. Maybe she’s leading by example so that we all carry that same confidence with us into the rest of the seasons to come…”

     “Just pop on the color customizer filter and make it a blue moon.” As excited as he was about the double full moon he couldn’t stop himself from making a joke. “I’m just joking, sorry. But it is pretty damn cool. There’s something extremely powerful about getting something like this. Especially on Halloween night. I’m kinda glad it isn’t actual blue though, I’ll admit. At least on a night like Halloween, that would absolutely freak me the fuck out.”

Korra laughed hearing his last sentence, “Oh but what’s the fun in just asking? No story would be good if there weren’t any cunning doings” the female raised her brows. She casually slipped the hood of her head as it was rather annoying to have on and flipped her hair. Korra linked her arm through this with a smile, “Don’t worry, I’m not your regular little red riding hood, I’m the version of her that’s a badass chingona who can actually navigate to granny’s house. Unless you happen to be the wolf?” the brunette narrowed her eyes suspiciously. 

     “You’ve been holding out on me haven’t you?” He taunted with a soft nudge to her side. The more he learned about Korra the more he liked her; eyes slightly narrowed as he looked down to her. “Ah... a chingona, you say? Well, Mira el mundo aquí viene”Once again, her words leaving him laughing at her assumption --- his tongue running over his lips as his laughter died down. “While you do look absolutely stunning in such a costume and wanting to ravage you would be completely understandable, i’m more of a townsperson than a wolf.”

“I thought plague doctors had like herbs and stuff in the snouts of their masks, and the equivalent at the moment would be some good old fashioned candies” Korra mused looking wistfully into the mask, sadly not filled with sweet treats. She chuckled at his joke about eating their way out of this maze, ”We’ll keep that option open” Korra nodded. “A ver, a ver,” the brunette put her hood up then put both pointing fingers onto her temples, “My sensors are saying we should try left” she pointed towards that direction. Quite frankly Korra wasn’t sure if they haven’t gone there before, but hey, it was better than nothing. And hey if that fails, I say we try to cut through, nothing more fun than running through places we’re not supposed to, right?” she turned back Giovanni mischievous grin playing on her lips.

     “What history book have you been reading, and can I get a copy?” He chuckled at her assumption; her mind continuously proving to be an incredible thing. “You’re literally little red riding hood, why didn’t you pack any in the basket for grandmas.” He continued to tease, though when she begins playfully using her senses he’s goes quiet. Or at least attempts to. Small bouts of laughter continued to sleep passed his lips despite his efforts. “If the lady says, left left it is.” He concurs, holding his elbow out for her to take, the mischievous offer causing an eyebrow to raise on his part. “I like the way you think poco rojo. Though if you wanted to get me alone all you had to do was ask.” He finished with a wink.

Cosmo doesn’t know how Giovanni became the leader, perhaps it was laziness in Cosmo’s part.  After Giovanni went on and on about the mask, Cosmo replied, “this is why I kept my costume simple.” He was supposed to be “a devil” but he had just left a business meeting before meeting Giovanni so he put on a headband with devil horns and called it a day. “Comfort over fashion.” Cosmo tried to stifle a laugh.

     There’s a slight snicker that leaves Giovanni’s lips at Cosmo’s words. “Right. Comfort. That’s the reason you showed up with a dollar store horn headband as a halloween costume. Comfort. Had nothing to do with being dangerously lazy.” He taunted a soft chuckle following his words as he dropped his hands to his side, mask still in hand. “You can’t even call it a costume really, you’re more decorative than decorated y’know? But since you are so comfortable, do you think you could pick a side to go down. Preferably one that leads to the exit. Or the entrance. I’m not picky. As long as we get out of here.”

James was thankful that the moon hadn’t quite come out full force yet. A few more hours, and he’d be howling in the middle of the maze with the best of them, and always with that damn ear itch. He felt like he had fleas half the time, though he knew he didn’t it. Hearing the voice, he stepped out the darkness, laughing eerily. “I don’t think it’s the mask my man. I think it just might be your sense of direction.”

     It was clear Giovanni wasn’t expecting anyone to be lingering with the way he jumped back nearly tripping over his own feet. Certain more than a few curses had also slipped passed his lips, but he wouldn’t dwell on that too much. “Is hanging around in bloody corn your idea of a good time mate? We really must get you out more if that’s the case.” He finished with a sigh as his shoulders relaxed again. “Probably, but it’s a lot more fun to blame the mask.”

Taking a sip from the cup she’d brought along, Lysa arched a brow. She’d barely been paying attention to where they were going, the only reason she’d come along at all the other’s confident insistence that the maze was easy to navigate. Oh, to be young and human again. “Great. So does that mean that now that it’s off you’ll get us out of here?” She asked, casting a nervous glance at the sky. “Full moon is going to rise soon.” It’s not that she thought the wolves would rip her to pieces, but there was something about the power imbalance of finding herself face to face with a whole pack of them that she’d have preferred to avoid. Of course, if all else failed, she could always just make a run for it through the maze, but for now, her conscience didn’t let her abandon her human companion.

     It wasn’t the question he was expecting. In fact, he thought the way in which he blamed a mask for his incompetent direction would actually encourage her to believe he had no idea what he was doing. It was just something he didn’t want to admit. Being wrong gracefully wasn’t something he was good at. “Let’s not jump to conclusions here...--- the sunlight has drastically changed since we came into the maze y’know. There’s plenty of other factors as well. Yeah.” He offered with a light shrug of his shoulders as he looked out into the maze. “Can’t we just manifest that...--- not to happen y’know? The halloween spirits should be on our side with this one.”

Carter stepped forward, looking up to the sky briefly as he stuffed his tingling hands in his pockets, “Don’t remember seeing a sign out there that said you must have your mask on but please, try again without it. I am sure you’ll figure it out eventually.”

     “Well forgive me for just trying to be festive and that.” He responded with a small chuckled at the other’s surprisingly seriousness. “That actually sounds quite threatening for some reason --- maybe it’s the hands in your pocket, or the eyes but I don’t think i should go back in there actually. Something tells me I should keep you in sight --- are you alright, mate?”

Gavin frowned and his wings instinctively drooped almost as if they were offended by the other man’s tone. “I mean, you definitely don’t look lame. The costume is great. Objectively. I’m just saying, you’re allowed to take off your mask.” Gavin thought about the other man’s words for a moment, but decided it was still too risky. “So close to the full moon, their senses are heightened and they will be able to smell me and hunt me down. A fairy can only fly for so long. Especially if I bring dead weight with me.” He eyed Giovanni when he said this.

     “Thank you --- custom fit.” He smiled at the compliment, forgetting the gravity of their situation for a moment. He was allowed to celebrate a costume well done wasn’t he? But at the sound of Gavin’s disapproval of moving forward the flying out of there plan, he’s brought back down from his high. “No need to be rude, the mask weighs like two pounds. Maybe we just need to get you into a gym, I have the best trainer.” It surprised him that even in moments where he should be more concerned he was joking around as if their livelihood wasn’t at risk.  “All jokes aside, officially --- Do fairies have some sort of navigation setting? Can you tell me if we had made a right or left at this point because I don’t remember.”

she had somehow put a back pack on so as to hide her wings and to not alert any werewolves of her species. Knowing Giovanni was a human though she felt better about walking through the maze. Although when they got to the same place the fourth time she couldn’t help but feel nervous as to how they might exit the thing and before the whole full moon thing. “It does look like an inconvenience. Maybe try walking for a bit without it on?” she suggested. “If were still out here later on i can fly up a little to look for an exit.” He would have to be on look out though so no wolves caught onto her.

     Usually Giovanni was one who lived for excitement --- especially the dangerous kind. But given the fact that Sophia didn’t seem to keen on this being fun he was beginning to think that maybe they should find their way out of their sooner rather than later. Seeing as she was actually a supernatural being, and he was a mere human he couldn’t see this ending well for him. “I’m sure we’ve made some headway... right?” He offered with what he hoped sounded like optimism as he lead them away from the spot they’d seen one too many times. “Besides, I’m pretty sure that would get you in some type of trouble. But It’s a good last resort type of plan.”

Korra couldn’t help but laugh, she was actually a fan of getting lost in mazes and other creepy Halloween things. Dressed in her quickly assembled red riding hood outfit she pulled the robe tighter around herself, all this walking was making her feel chilly, or maybe it was the eerie vibe of the place. “You better tell me you have snacks in that long nose of yours, cause we’re gonna starve if we walk through this spot another fifty time” Korra laughed saying that, although she was starting to regret not taking the basket with baked goods that red riding hood should have been carrying to granny.

     The slight irritation he’d been feeling slowly disappears at the sound of her laugh. He supposed he did look rather silly in that moment. With a sigh that turned into a laugh of his own at her words he shook her head. “Unfortunately, plague doctors were more focused on keeping themselves safe from y’know the plague. There’s no secret snack department, but we’re surrounded by corn shucks, i’m down to eat my way out if you are.” He joked with another laugh. Gazing around one more time before releasing a sigh. “Alright little red, tap into that magnificent navigation technique of yours; right or left?”

“I would fly up and cheat, but I don’t want to piss off any of the werewolves…” Gavin said quietly, his wings beating nervously as he looked around. There were never going to get out of there before the sun set and the wolves came out. “Just keep the mask off. It’s not like costumes were required. Plus, it’s creepy anyways,” Gavin said candidly. 

     “Costumes weren’t required says the dude with fucking wings --- which I know, you didn’t choose. Born with it or whatever, But how lame would I look next to a stunter with wings just wearing my usual designer? Pretty fucking lame I’ll tell you that.” He explained wiping nonexistent dirt off from his mask, though he doesn’t put it back on his face. “Okay say the werewolves do get angry --- what’s the worst they could do before we get out? Before that whole... shift thing? You can literally fly away.”

     Going into the corn maze, Giovanni had had an insane amount of confidence. Convincing himself that somehow his engineering degree would give him an edge in figuring out how to get out. But after passing the same hole in the ground he’d purposefully dug for the fourth time he begrudgingly admitted to himself that he’d gotten them lost. “It’s the damn mask, I’m telling you.” He tried as he pulled the plague doctor mask from his face, and holding it out to look at it. “How can I see anything properly with the nose as long as it is?” He gestured toward it as if that would explain why they had been going in circles.

“Aerospace engineer. Damn.” She nodded in approval. “Well, hey, at least you tried. Maybe you just need to work on it a little more.”

    “I know right?” He added with a chuckle. “I think it’s the metal mixture. Might be too heavy for a design this small, there’s no way it could be the ignitor.” He thought out loud. “Anymore black powder and it would have exploded. I think.”
