Sid mocked offense. The smile spread across her lips betrayed her though. “Pretty sure they are always cute. Wouldn’t know. Don’t think they ever went out of fashion in Kentucky.” She laughed. “Thank you.”

The question brought forth a chuckle from Sif, though not in an unkind manner. “I do not think I am the one you should be asking about these things.” This celebration, whilst something she was enjoying learning about, was new to her, and so she didn’t feel that it was her place to say what would be too much or not.

Sid shook her head. “Do ya think it would look good? That’s what matters. Not how much ya know about these things.” She said with a laugh and a smile. During her first pride, she felt like a fish out of water even if she was so sure of her sexuality then. Now, she did her best to make even feel comfortable and included.

Pride, and more specifically the many different types of people it brought out to the crowded streets, always brought a grin to her face. “That’s what I was thinking. Rainbows are always great.” A laugh left her lips. “Guessing that means I got your stamp of approval for the rainbow.”

maggie was in a better mood than usual. pride was a great season for her, finally getting to feel the acceptance and sense of family that she’d lost so long ago. so many times. she smiles down at the younger girl encouragingly, throwing an arm around her shoulder. “darlin’, nothing’s too much for pride.”

A laugh left her lips. “You are probably right about that.Going all out for Pride seems like a lot of fun.” No matter how much her family supported her when she was younger, she still grew up in Kentucky. “This is probably the only time I’m not gonna get crap for wearing a thousand rainbows.”

Sid, expectedly, adored pride. She walked around the park, partially looking for Huihana and looking for a face painting booth. A large smile spread across her face, she said, “Ya think getting a giant rainbow painted on my check is too much?”

getting out of the heat was something they NEEDED. they wouldn’t get sunburnt but it was still really hot outside and they really just needed a little breather. they also needed a burger and a free slushie ? they couldn’t complain. “ hey ! there’s an empty spot right here if you want ! ” fabian called towards someone who looked like they were looking for a place to sit. the place was packed and it was a bit difficult to find an empty place to sit, which was EXPECTED.

Sid buzzed with energy as she walked into the burger place. Since she came to Paragon, she’d looked forward to the annual pride celebration. Kentucky, even now, wasn’t the best place for pride. New York, despite whatever superhero shenanigans that were bound to go down, was the perfect environment for it. She loved it almost as much as she loved free slushies. Slushie in hand, she smiled at their offer. “Thanks. This place is packed, huh? I see almost as much rainbow as I did during the parade.”

Sid laughed, a wide smile spread across ruby red lips. “It’s the summer.” Which meant a significant reduction in the amount of times Sid had to dress up. She’d reverted back to the basics. “I’m thinking my overalls are acceptable.”

walter shrugged, chuckling, unable to help himself. although he trusted sid’s judgement and was sure it was as good as she was assuring him, he had to tease her, even just a little. “unfortunately not. that’s– someone told me that they made it into a musical. is it… is it actually good? i don’t know, man. i know a lot of people who have tried to sell me their favourite childhood movies and i’ve watched it, and then like, it’s lame. don’t let me down, sid.”

“Haven’t gotten around to listening to the musical, so I unfortunately can’t give ya a review of it.” She smiled. “Legally Blonde is great, and for reasons other than I may have based my career choice on it.” A laugh escaped her lips. “Can’t promise ya my nostalgia isn’t clouding my judgement.”

A large smile spread across her face, and she pulled Huihana closer to her side. Even while she was still getting over the hurt caused by their last go at a relationship, being around Huihana felt right. “I’m guessing I’m a lot of firsts.” Red crept onto her cheeks. “You’re a pretty big first for me, too, so it’s even, I think.”

growing up so far removed from a lot of pop culture was kind of jarring for walter, who was now out in the world, trying to navigate his way through conversation with people. he hadn’t really been allowed to watch movies, his father more preferring him to read books than anything else – not that he minded at all, but he hadn’t expected to come across as so uncultured. “wait, wait,” he frowned, “i haven’t seen it, or– i don’t even know if you’re talking about a movie. what… okay. okay. if i have to see one nerdy movie series or whatever, what do you think it should be?”

Sid stopped mid-sentence, her trail of thought lost. “Ya haven’t seen Legally Blonde?” Confusion tinted her tone. Her childhood had been full of movie nights just watching movies whenever she got tired of running around with her siblings outside. It’d been a staple of her childhood, and listening to the man say he hadn’t seen it, she was more than a little dumbfounded. “It’s one of the movies that I assume everyone has seen. It’s probably the greatest movie ever created.”

She laced her fingers with Huihana’s when the other girl took her hand. It felt right, she noted. Warmth blossomed in the pit of her stomach. It was easy to love Huihana, no matter what had happened between them in the past, admitting that she did was much harder. She looked down at their hands, a fluttering in chest. “It was a lot of fun, wasn’t it?”
