Did I ever love you at all? Jenesis Alonso
The beginning to healing
Holding hands may seem like an innocent gesture, but they show more than a simple interlocking of fingers. Your hands are one of the most essential parts of your body: you build with them, feed with them, hold with them, touch with them, fight with them; they are the tools of the human body. To take a hold of another’s hand is to break from living individually. It is to link yourself to another being, to momentarily entwine your life with another’s, to promise, for a moment, that you need not face the world alone. More simple, more aesthetically naive than other forms of affection, i.e kissing, hugging, sexing.., the act of holding hands is often trivialized in its true implications.

I think once you move on, you start to see the person as less and you thought they where. They aren’t a hurricane of heart break or a glorious ocean any more. Their eyes don’t remind you of chocolate or the sky, and their presence doesn’t make your heart skip an extra beat. They just become a person who loved you a little less than you loved them.

And today when my friend asked me if there’s anything I ’d love more than the ocean, I almost said your name.

When I look at you, I swear I see a city full of beautiful bright lights and opportunities. I see so much life behind your eyes that I almost want to live, just to see where your streets will take me. Like cities often do you have a past, but you carry it as if it has no weight and I can’t help but admire how you do that. But when you look at me I can’t help but wonder if you see what I do. An old worn down town, the lights on its one diner left slowly flickering out. Do you see the abandonment? Can you tell how many people have come just to leave? Ran through me, straight to another destination, not bothering to see what I can offer? Do you see that despite how much I try and conceal it, can you see that I’m just a deserted town that others pass through just to get to someplace better?
v.m // what do you see in me? (via writingboutyou)
i’d choose you
If you want something you can have it, but only if you want everything that goes with it, including all the hard work and the despair, and only if you’re willing to risk failure.
Philip Pullman, Clockwork (via simply-quotes)
