scholar who’s about to write Eco Chamber Academic Article #274883920: noooo guys i swear it’s a good thing when there’s yet another beige addition to a long list of unimaginative pieces of classical reception
The board features 58 holes (29 on each side), used for placing game pieces (either hounds or jackals). Some of these holes have hieroglyphs next to them, such as 𓄤 nfr - good and 𓍶 šn - protection, with the latter being the goal and lines connecting them. It is thought that the game would be played like Chutes and Ladders today, with two players moving their pieces according to the rolled number to reach the end.

"Hail goddess," she said, "greater than Jove,
if I'm the judge -- and let Jove himself hear it!"
vs.
dicebas quondam solum te nosse Catullum,
Lesbia, nec prae me velle tenere Iovem.
Once you used to say you only knew Catullus,
Lesbia, and that you wouldn't want to have even Jove over me. (Catullus 72.1-2)
