Why was John Cornyn successful for the third time running for Senate? 

We read in this article coming from Dallas Fort Worth area that Cornyn has a few factors that really worked for him in this past election. Cornyn not only has a strong background in constant fundraising but also a well known name that is second of Republicans in the Senate. Alameel, his closest competitor is a little known millionaire whose dental practices were successful. Cornyn also angled much of his campaign towards his hispanic audience and voters which makes up a large percentage of Texan voters, especially in the border areas.

John Cornyn Looking Towards Winning Majority Whip

In an article by Maria Recio of the McClatchy Washington Bureau we read once again about Sen.John Cornyn's breezy walk towards Senate victory for a third term. We also see that the race isnt over for a while as John Cornyn looks towards "Next week's leadership vote for majority whip." 

Cornyn says about his success in re-election, 

"The message sent last night from the American people is loud and clear: Washington is broken, the big government experiment has failed, and the time has come for fresh leadership and a new direction for the country," He said.

And the winner is....JOHN CORNYN

Senator John Cornyn was re-elected to another term as Texas Senator this past November 4th as he defeated his opponents, most notably David Alameel. In the prediction image posted below, it is evident that the voting tendencies were going to lie with John Cornyn and so this election result was no real surprise for the voting public. I must admit that with the 99% surety prediction of John Cornyn's success I am little surprised that David Alameel put up a strong fight with even getting 34% of the votes.

Elections & Voter Guide posted on the 31st of October highlights just how this race will go, no nail biter here. With a 99% chance of John Cornyn being re-elected, there is no chance that Democrat David Alameel will win this election.

DALLAS GROUND ZERO

Both current U.S. Senate representatives, John Cornyn and Ted Cruz along with the 24 Republicans in the house raised concerns about ebola cases surfacing in the U.S. 

Ebola protocols came under speculation when 2 Dallas health workers got the disease while working with an Ebola patient, although the two nurses survived the patient died. Dallas has been labeled "ground zero" for the first ebola case. It is fitting to see John Cornyn and Ted Cruz taking this seriously and pressuring lawmakers to help the public understand how the government intends to use resources to clear a path towards the future.

John Cornyn and competitor for the U.S. Senate position David Alameel has a debate and both portrayed themselves as "the candidate of fresh leadership for Washington." I found this quote interesting because John Cornyn calls for new leadership and direction and yet he is seeking to be re-elected his third term.

We read here that John Cornyn has a lead of 26 percent over David Alameel who is his closest competitor in the coming election for the Texas Senate races. Interestingly enough, a survey conducted by the University of Texas with 866 voters shows that Ted Cruz, currently the other Texas Senator, is the top GOP nominee for the Republicans of Texas for the presidential race. This article highlights the standing of John Cornyn in relation to his competitors and also touches on current US Senator Ted Cruz and the plans the Republican has for his future.

It may seem as though most of these posts are about John Cornyn, and that would be correct. It appears as though this election will continue to swing in his favor and so it is important to note his beliefs, hopes and aspirations for the future of Texas. 

I have parents who grew up in Texas and family who lives there now who have looked at his site (link above) to see what he hopes to accomplish in the future and reaffirm that this is the man they want to receive their votes.

John Cornyn discusses how President Obama wants to turn Texas blue which in Cornyn's eyes for Texas citizens means higher taxes and higher unemployment. Cornyn speaks directly to the people in his promise to continue to "take the fight to President Obama".

This video was released a year ago, prime time for Cornyn to reach out to his audience that will be voting in the upcoming November election. The video ends with a quote, "Keep it right, keep it red."

Better the Devil you know

Stepping away from John Cornyn, we see some opinion on Cornyn's opponent for the Texas Senator position. The entire article centers on the idea that although Cornyn has not been a perfect senator, he is a much better candidate for the position than his closest competitor David Alameel who we see through this quote is likened only to being previously involved with "DENTAL CLINICS". 

Through the data shown in a previous post, it is very likely that Cornyn remains the Senator for Texas for another term and it is interesting to see the public recognizing that he has done both good and bad and is still the best candidate amongst them.

On October 8th, Texas Senator John Cornyn met with the Police Chief of Austin, Mr.Art Acevedo to discuss plans to stop violence against women. According to recent reports shared by the Texas Council, there has been a spike in violence at the home that have resulted in homicides. The article (link attached) mentions specific facts stating 119 women in Texas were killed due to domestic violence.

The counties of Dallas and Harris have had the highest amount of domestic violence murders in all of Texas and so it is helpful for the Texas public to see John Cornyn (running for re-election as Texas Senator) voicing not only his concern over the issue but working to prevent the issue from steadily increasing in coming years.

Here we see John Cornyn voice his opinion on the struggles of getting things accomplished during a typical election year. It is encouraging to see that there is a level of accountability and responsibility to make the tough decisions that need to be made.

The first picture outlines the candidates for the 2014 U.S. Senate race.

1) John Cornyn (current incumbent U.S. Texas Senator) representing the Republican party. 2) David Alameel representing the Democratic party. 3) Rebecca Paddock from the Libertarian Party. 4) Emily Marie Sanchez with the Declared Green Party Candidate.

Looking at the second picture that highlights the polls of the Senate Races in Texas, it looks as if John Cornyn still holds an advantage over the other candidates. David Alameel comes in the closest (percentage wise) to John Cornyn. For now it seems like Mr.Cornyn has this race set in his favor but it will be interesting nonetheless to see how this plays out with David Alameel and his respectable percentage of supporters.

John Cornyn's thoughts on securing the border? 

In an interview with Andrea Tantaros, Mr.Cornyn (U.S. Senator for the Texas border state) discusses his views on the Gang of Eight immigration plan.

My grandparents and my mother grew up in El Paso right on the border of Juarez. I go there every summer and when I visited this year (2014) my grandmother was constantly on the go. Recently, 90,000 unaccompanied children coming from South America were gathered on the Texas-Mexico borders seeking entry into the U.S. due to a loop-hole in the immigration process. President Obama called it a "humanitarian crisis". My grandmother has been on the go driving these children to airports and bus stations etc so they can reach connections and family in the U.S. and then await trials to determine whether U.S. citizenship is a possibility. 

In this interview John Cornyn expressed some ideas that I agreed with: 1) the border security of Texas and states on the border with South American needs to be a priority. 2) Many U.S. citizens residing on these burdened borders have no confidence in the government (Congress) to enforce immigration laws currently in place. 3) Regarding this Gang of Eight immigration plan, there needs to be certain pre-requisites before a pathway to immigration is promised. 

38.4% of Texas' population is Hispanic or Latino. It will be interesting to see whether the voting public agrees with John Cornyn's views on immigration and whether they vote to re-elect him for another term as Texas U.S. senate representative.

Who is John Cornyn?

This year on November 4, 2014 voters will come together to elect a member to the U.S. senate to represent the state of Texas. The election taking place this November will decide whether John Cornyn continues to represent Texas in the Senate or if he will be replaced.

Now who is John Cornyn in a few short sentences?

Mr.Cornyn was born in 1952 in Houston, TX and represents the Republican party in the U.S. Senate. He previously served as a County District judge in Bexar for the courts in the years 1984-1990. Mr.Cornyn continued to then being a part of the Texas Supreme Court and then Texas Attorny General. He was then elected to the U.S. Senate in 2002 with his most recent election victory in 2008. 

What are some of John Cornyn's views (an overview)? 

Mr.Cornyn opposes the belief that all women should have the right to Abortion and he also opposes same-sex marriage. He also opposes the no questions asked right to bear arms (gun ownership). He also very strongly opposes the belief some hold stating that illegal immigrants have the right to pursue citizenship. 

Who is Ted Cruz?

One of the two current incumbents that has been representing Texas from 2012 until present day 2014 is Ted Cruz; he is one of three Latino members in all of the United States Senate and is considering running for president in 2016.
