In the bsd dub I think there’s a confusing translation where dazai calls kouyou his sister and when i first watched it i took this literally. This meant for the first year i was in the bsd fandom, i thought dazai and kouyou where canonical siblings and everyone in the fandom chose to ignore it simply in favour of the chuya kouyou sister/brother headcannon and spent many hours complaining to my imaginary audience abt how this was typical fannon behaviour.
sometimes an american will be talking to you and they start throwing around numbers like 70 or 90 when talking about the weather and you just have to smile and nod
what if you were an eighteen year old ORPHAN and you were HUNGRY so you go to STEAL A MAN'S WALLET but he goes "no join my private totally legit organization" so you join his GOVERNMENT APPROVED (??? you hope???) DETECTIVE ORGANIZATION and then you have a bounty and the MAFIA is after you so you FIGHT THE MAFIA but then the AMERICANS show up and you have to fight SCOTT FITZGERALD on a GIANT FUCKING AIRSHIP with a man whose best friend is a COAT and your mentor STILL wants to KILL HIMSELF and his ex boyfriend is making your life a LIVING HELL and the little orphan girl you took in keeps trying to KILL PEOPLE and then you meet FYODOR DOSTOEVSKY and your found family is framed for MURDER and then coat man RIDES YOU (???) and then your homoerotic rival DIES and COMES BACK and your mentor is STILL BRINGING THAT FUCKING GINGER TO THE SCENE OF THE CRIME and you STILL don't get PAID ENOUGH and you STILL can't afford food and NOW your whole FAMILY IS DEAD and your name is ATSUSHI NAKAJIMA and this is THE WORST FUCKING YEAR OF YOUR LIFE
I’m such a fucking nerd it’s sometimes a little painful.
I have to study for my French test tomorrow but I don’t want to because I don’t like French so I’m in my head like “We could study French…” the normal thing to say here would be some shit like “or I could scroll on TikTok!” “or I could watch tv!” But my nerdy ass goes “OR…we could write an essay on tumblr sociologically analysing each characters plot points in bungo stray dogs as example of how we learn the comfort of the patriarchy from media and then compile it In my Google dock that has various other shows data in it 🤓”
….what?
Said this in my head non-satirically by the way. I actually opened this to write it and then had to stop myself because um what the fuck?
No. I’m forcing myself to revise for my French test now because if I’m gonna be a nerd it at least has to get me good grades.
I STARTED WRITING THIS AGES AGO THEN CAME BACK AND FINISHED IT. ALSO I HAVENT REALLY BEEN ON TIKTOK FOR A WHILE SO I MIGHT HAVE MISSED SOMETHINGS, ANYWAY ENJOY:
Ok so I know people probably won’t read this but I just wanted to get my thoughts out about the recent manga chapter I just wanted to write my thoughts down about what this could mean for the for the story.
I’m gonna break it down into certain and plot points/characters and talk about how I think they will effect the story:
Ok starting of with fukuchi’s death:
I’m not sure what this will mean for the hunting dogs, although I’m pretty sure (icba to find the chapter again so I’m just going off memory) he left responsibility to Teruko; I’m not sure how they will contribute to the narrative anymore. It’s possible that they recruit a new member from the pre-existing characters, but I can’t see that having any relevance to the plot I see continuing.
Chuyas hair: OK GUYS! I am a strong believer that that is a hair-tie Ok?? I will not be hearing out any other arguments.
Although If it is gone I think his haircut is symbolic of being separated from a loved one so if it’s gone this could mean this loved one is back?? (Possibly dazai weather you interpret it as romantic or platonic)
Dazai: even if the ADA was still open I don’t think he could just bounce back like a fucking boomerang from the highest security prison in the world. I have seen people conspire about the death penalty (which I’m pretty sure is legal in France but idk), however my guess is that he’s hiding out somewhere Bcs that ho isn’t dying that easily. I also do think it would make narrative sense for him to rejoin the pm, there is a small chance that he redeems himself to the public or legal system by pulling some crazy stunt, but especially in light of recent chapters sadly I don’t think he’ll be rejoining the ADA :(.
Paul Verlaeine: I haven’t read storm bringer yet, but from what I heard I’m guessing he’s just back in that basement.
Hoping that his appearance in the main manga means Strom bringer at adaptation??
Atsushi: um hello?! Wtf was that?! He just touches a page and now he’s in mother fucking London?! Also how is he speaking English?? Or that person Japanese?? Are they just VERY highly educated (considering the time period) or is the language being converted somehow?
I definitely think that this is fydors plan as now that atsushi is in 19th century England-unless Asagiri has TREMENDOUSLY mischaracterised England and think that our streets still look like there form a Dickens novel (but I’ll assume he’s more globally aware). Anyway because atsushi is in the 19th century Fyodor is now still in the narrative so I think he placed the page there and dying was part of his plan-which suggests his plan has already succeeded in the past(gulp).
Either way, Atsushi needs to find some rich people FAST because Victorian London was not for the weak. If he dosen’t get a clean water supply, a source of sunlight aswell as fruit and or vegetables, he’s gonna develop scurvy, rickets and/or cholera. I personally think that a slow and painful death of bsd mc whilst exploring the inequalities in Victorian with steam punk theming London would be quite interesting- but it’s not Asagiri’s style. So I see two options:
1)Asagiri ignores the plethora of disease and high mortality rate in 1800s London (not unlikely).
2)the tiger has some kind of immunity and isn’t susceptible to the disease-so Atsushi just watches all of his friends slowly perish (or Asagiri forgets and just comes up with this excuse later on).
3)He gets taken in by the clock tower.
For the sake of the plot, accurate representation of the abuse of the poor in industrial London and Atshushi himself: I hope it’s option 3.
One final concern I have with Atsushi is the tigger. Since the ADA has dispensed is Atsushi still able to control it?? I hope he can otherwise it’s lightly he’ll go through something similar to beast which I really don’t want for him :((.
Sigma: still in the coma. Otherwise he would’ve warned Atsushi about the page as I’m SURE it’s in Fydors memories.
But where is he? Because I’m pretty sure the ADA would want to protect him(maybe idk), but they’re dispensed right now. And I’m aware it was hinting he could join the ADA, but Is that REALLY conventional what with him committing terroism and all?? Like I feel like people have enough beef with the ADA already and if they get back together again and then 10years down the line there’s like a news report and it’s like: “remember when all of those coins EXPLODED?! Yeah well we caught the guy and he’s working with those people we used to think where the terrorists cus they got caught killing a bunch of people and where harbouring ex-mafia members…BUT NO REALY THEYRE TRUST WORTHY I SWEAR!” I just don’t think it’s gonna work out.
So does the pm have him?? Because that would be cool asf but lwk angsty. Like Sigmas whole thing is he’s been used his entire life and he doesn’t want that anymore and I don’t think that would change in the PM. And whilst that would be very sad and angsty (and sigma is my second favourite character) I don’t think he’s played a major enough role in the story yet to be packed with that much angst.
He could join the hunting dogs?? They aren’t necessarily against letting their Emines join their organisations (as seen with akutagawa and kunikida) but again idk what he would realy do there.
I definitely feel like sigma will do something as he is a very useful native tool- I’m just not sure where?
Wherever he is I think in the first few chapters of part two he will wake up and tell them where Atsushi is and then the plot will revole tryna get Atsushi back.
Which is a little disconcerting considering that Fyodor gave him his ability and it was probably for this reason….but I’ve digressed.
WAIT YOU GUYS-
What is the ADA combine with the pm or hunting dogs and whatever irrelevant character they can find on the face of the universe (as they’re now dispensed:() and everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) works together to get Atsushi back!!!(and stop fyodor which is probably most of their main motivations but still). It would be such a hype moment like “yes! Go team!”
Anyway that my very extensive thoughts on sigma.
Nikolai: I haven’t got very many thoughts on his future, but I think he may try and defeat fydor some way, purely out of spite, and then when he’s dead he’ll be really sad. Or maybe he’ll die first? Or at the same time?? Who knows.
Akutagawa: yk guys I think he might be a bit pissy about Atsushi being snatched…
…especially with all the shit he said in the recent chapters.
“The where tiger is my ordeal, return him to me”-WOAH BLAST FROM THE PAST!!
I can’t remember that well but at some point I’m pretty sure he said something about Atsushi being his new reason for life.
…
Yeah he’s gonna wanna get him back.
(OMFG HES LITERALLY LIKE THE OLIVA RODRIGO SONG SGSHSHUSKWIWO-)
And ik that I am very bias when it comes to sskk- but romantic or not he always somehow makes it to Atsushi in any significant moment of the plot.
So even if he does just want his “rival” back i think he will either somehow magically teleport to London on the first atom of part 2 or he gonna be involved heavily with tryna defeat fyodor/ get the huzz back to current day japan.
Ummmm I’m trying to think who else I wanted to add in here…
OH OMG-
KOYOKA:to say that I am disappointed in Asagiri would imply that I expected better. Unfortunately, I did not. However, Regardless of my expectations:
WHAT THE FUCK!?!
Bullshit no absolute BULLSHIT.
This made me really cross and I don’t actually have any way I think this will contribute to the plot-BECAUSE IT WONT! And that’s why I’m so angry!
Time and time again asagiri has put female characters (especially YOUNG female characters) in comprising positions to GROWN MEN!!!
I actually gathered data on this and am willing to write an analytical sociological analysis of the data if you guys want but that’s a whole essay in its self so I’ll move on for now.
I’m just really disappointed in Asagiri because realistically this isn’t going to be brought up again or serve any relevance to the plot because if it were to become a main plot point-many would stop watching, so he’s just doing this to once again put a young girl in a compromising position. Sigh. They could never make me hate you Koyoka.
Aya: I have no thoughts but Aya is my favourite and I just wanted to put my daughter in here because she deserves all the love and appreciation in the world. This girl has saved everyone’s ass like 10000000 times. I really hope they leave her alone next chapter, however considering they gave her a backstory Asagiri probably isn’t going to let that happen. Sigh.
The transfer: to be honest all the main people suggested to be transferred make sense.
Dazai makes sense because there is no way that ho is getting back to the ADA. However, an extensive amount of the plot and other universes (beast) revolve around pm Dazai. Would Asagiri want to do something new?
Atsushi makes sense because the plot follows him and Asagiri may want to explore the inner workings of the pm…but again we’ve seen pm Atsushi in beast…and although I think that was a very interesting (and sad :((() Sanrio for his character I think there is a limited amount to explore to him in the pm so I don’t think it will be him.
Ranpo I mean I KINDA get it but do we really think ranpo would start working just because Mori told him to instead of Fukuzawa? No. This ho would do nothing.
Kunikida being transferred is so funny to me for a multitude of reasons I genuinely might write an essay on it. But do I think it will happen? No.
Tanizaki is actually a good transfer and may even possibly replace tachihara ( I THINK he’s dead). But I don’t think Asagiri would separate him and Naomi ().
Anyway guys I think it’s Dazai.
Fyodor: this ho had it all planned out make no mistake. Yes he is dead in 2012 Japan but Is he dead in 19th century England?
Whilst Fyodor is not particularly my favourite character I do think the way Asagiri has crafted him is very interesting, and I’m looking forward to more elaboration on his character.
There are probably more things I’m missing but I genuinely can’t think of any right now and I’ve been writing this essay on and off for like a month now because I can’t stick to one task more than five minutes. Anyway those are my thoughts and sorry for the inevitable grammar and spelling mistakes you will find in this essay- I can’t be asked to proof read it, I’m dyslexic, and I can’t be asked with correctly using grammar myself.
