I like to think the whole basketball team knew there was a Strange Element to Jason’s burning hatred of Eddie specifically but just. Kinda ignored it. He’s just very passionate about DnD being evil, really.
we need to bring back public hatred for paparazzi. I’m so tired of actors defending themselves against assholes with cameras and being smeared as egotistical divas. they’re glorified stalkers who get paid to harass people. end of. the things these freaks get away with would send normal people to prison but we’re supposed to think it’s okay just bc they’re paparazzi. they SHOULD get shut down for being openly misogynistic. they SHOULD get told off and reported for following someone to their private residence to doxx them. they SHOULD face charges for just about running people over in their pursuit of the next hot celeb. this is not normal. and, actually, these people DO deserve to get punched sometimes.

ok but this unironically works. talk about how the working class is exploited and you can basically sell full-on marxism to your average republican if you do it right. all you have to do is avoid the words "Marx," "capitalism," "socialism," "communism," "means of production," etc - just use synonyms. say "big business" or "corporate shareholder interests" instead of "capitalists." say "a government that prioritizes the needs of the working people" instead of "socialism." it WORKS. I've DONE it. the hardest sell are usually things like social and racial equity, welfare, things like that, because people have been primed with the racist/classist idea that those things are somehow unfair - but you can get your foot in the door to getting them to buy into those too if you start with class issues. read up on your theory, make sure you REALLY understand your own ideology, because that will enable you to reword it and successfully sell it.
In my experience, you can often help sell 'welfare' stuff by appealing to self-interest with a touch of Aren't We Great.
Disability benefits: "I mean, sure, there are probably some sad sacks who are gaming the system, there always are, but hell, with the amount of taxes we pay, the government can afford a few freeloaders, right? I'd rather pay for a couple people who don't really need it than not have the system at all for if I need it, or my kids do, or whatever. I mean shit happens. I get in theory why people complain about het ships or whatever, I get wanting to watch queer media I really do, but I guess where y’all lose me is like. I saw some asshole on a post about Sinners complaining it was “hetslop”—this person was specifically doing so while also claiming Remmick was a queer character and thus they were justified in caring more about him than the Black protagonists. which is a whole other disgusting can of worms that has been well addressed by others at this point. but even in the absence of that part of the argument, like, no, i actually don’t think that a hunger for queer stories is an especially good excuse to deride and dismiss a piece of landmark Black filmmaking, especially as a non-Black person. I have a post that’s been going around encouraging folks to engage with more Native stories and characters, and I had someone come onto that post saying in the tags that they’d need these stories to be queer in order to care. and I just think that, you know, sucks! like obviously as a queer Native I also want to see more of those stories too. but idk how else to put it other than to say that Black people and people of color shouldn’t have to be like you in order for you to care about our narratives and experiences. and I think some of y’all are using this disdain for heterosexuality as a cover for your unexamined racial biases. it’s not okay to be racist to people just because those people happen to be straight, and you continue to be white before you are queer.
on an even more basic level than that, also, I simply just think some of y’all NEED to learn how to interact with media and storytelling without ships and fandom in mind. like if not being able to write fic about two men kissing is genuinely going to be a dealbreaker for you I think that’s actually something you need to work on within yourself because at that point I think you’re no longer really interacting with art and themes and narrative so much as just kind of playing with toys. which is, like, fine I guess. have fun. but it wouldn’t kill you to disengage from that from time to time. especially if would allow you to actually appreciate rich and deeply moving cultural stories from communities of color that you desperately need to learn how to see as human

You know that moment when they’re in the Upside Down and it’s just Steve, Nancy, and Eddie left? Well, it’s like that, except that Nancy goes first, and Vecna enters Eddie’s mind.
Vecna intends to scare him, to show him horrific images. He wants to show him things so terrifying that they’ll think twice before coming to attack him on his own turf... Except that’s not quite how it plays out.
Vecna confidently enters Eddie’s mind, but he is soon unsettled; he does not quite know where in Eddie’s mind he has landed, but what he sees there throws him off balance.
Eddie’s mind is filled with visions of Steve. Visions of things that actually happened, and above all, visions that are merely Eddie’s fantasies. Vecna sees kisses, so many kisses, and some of them are really, very... hot.
He can also see that Eddie’s hormones are raging and a very vivid imagination (Why does Steve have TWO dicks in this vision? And OH MY GOD! Is that a tentacle in this other vision? And a fucking whip over there? And a threesome with two Steve? And the foursome version with THREE Steve? And what is that stupid sailor outfit doing here? And why is Harrington suddenly in sportswear with those ridiculous tiny shorts, in that other vision? And why is Eddie over there wearing a cheerleader outfit, with a skirt so short that it’s completely against the rules? And is the Eddie in that vision wearing a pair of fucking lace panties? And why does Harrington suddenly tell him he’s the dirtiest little slut he’s ever seen?)
Usually, it is his victims who try to escape his mind; this time, it is Vecna himself trying to get out. Far too many bare-chested Steves are blocking his way out (he is so flustered that he forgets he has control over the situation and can leave whenever he wants.)
When Vecna finally manages to get out of there, Eddie comes to, and everyone, panicked, asks him what just happened. Eddie explains to them that Vecna was inside his head and spoke to him. They all assume Vecna was threatening him, but Eddie just shrugs, saying that Vecna simply told him, “I understand why everyone calls you Eddie ‘the Freak’ Munson.”
Eddie’s fantasies are completely uninhibited, and Vecna has seen the worst of them. The only thing he hasn’t seen is the fantasy that means the most to Eddie: Steve looking at him with eyes full of love, cupping his cheeks in his hands, and whispering how much he deserves to be loved and how much he loves him, before kissing him tenderly.
As someone who is both trans and has a child, absolutely hilarious to me that society presents one of these as absolutely only to be done if you are 110% certain and have proved to several people that you want it bad enough and are ready, and the other is like. You might as well everyone else does. Just do it nobody feels ready. You don’t want to? Yes you do
Especially since one of those is pretty reversible if you change your mind after a couple years and the other one, well, technically but that’s pretty frowned upon
