Hi! Today, I’m sharing a list of mods that I consider essential for playing historical gameplay in The Sims.
I often have friends who want to dive into the Decades Challenge but aren’t sure which mods to use or where to start. So, in this post, I’m going to share the mods I personally use and think are indispensable for creating that authentic historical experience.
Deaderpool's MC Command Center: This mod allows you to manage and modify many aspects of your game, including handling pregnancies, university careers, and enabling teen relationships so your Sims can marry earlier, among other features. You can also enable autosave and adjust the length of a Sim day.
Lumpinou's RPO: This mod enhances relationship dynamics and expands pregnancy features. It's extensive, with many modules, and once you've tried it, you won't want to play without it.
Pandasama's Realistic Childbirth: Offers multiple realistic childbirth options, including natural bed births and spontaneous labour, adding depth to your Sims' family lives.
MizoreYukii's Arranged Marriages: Allows you to arrange marriages for convenience. Parents can agree on marriages for their children, but breaking the arrangement won’t be easy.
Necrodog's Carriages and Horses: Adds functional carriages, enhancing immersion. While it doesn't work with the horses of Horse Ranch pack, it’s still incredibly useful.
Kuttoe's Enlist in War: It will allow your Sims to enlist in the war. Whether they live or die will be random, but if they survive, they'll receive the Veteran trait, a lifetime pension and some lasting traumas.
JaneSimsten's Regency Romance: Perfect for simulating the Regency era. It adds class differences, property ownership, etiquette skills, new traits and careers, events, and widowhood. Though inspired by the Regency era, it works well for later decades too.
SimKatu's Reading Animation Override: Changes the reading animations, with different ones for men and women, making your Sims’ reading time more immersive.
Zero's Deadly Dickensian Sicknesses: Introduces the risk of diseases like Tuberculosis, Typhoid Fever, and Cholera. It’s incredibly realistic with its contagion system.
Adeepindigo's Healthcare Redux: A comprehensive health mod that adds various illnesses and treatments, including tuberculosis and (early access) cancer. While Sims can buy modern medicines, many illnesses can be cured with natural remedies.
Adeepindigo's Simulated Endings: This mod will enhance everything related to your Sims' deaths, allowing them to take out life insurance and designate beneficiaries, arrange funeral preparations, and introduce stages of grief for your Sims.
MizoreYukii's Functional Broom: Adds a functional broom with its own animation, letting you keep your Sims’ homes clean without resorting to modern vacuums.
Triplis's Quit or Join School: In case you need your teens or childs to quit school.
The Kalino's Farm Animal Set: Expands your farm with more animals, including goats, sheep, ducks and more, in addition to the standard cows and chickens.
JaneSimsten's Write With Quills: Replaces your Sims' pens with quills, adding a touch of historical accuracy.
JaneSimsten's Sidesaddle Override: Allows female Sims to ride horses sidesaddle, as they would have in the past.
JaneSimsten's Parchment Computer: Replaces modern computers with parchment and quills, complete with their own animations—perfect for pre-typewriter eras.
Frankk's Language Barriers: More realism to sims being from different worlds.
Rs4ella's 1920s Grade School Homework Override: Changes the look of the kids' homework book to a 1920s style, but it works well for earlier periods too.
Xbrilliantsims's Toddler Bathtime Overrides: Replaces modern bath toys and sponges with more era-appropriate items when bathing toddlers.
Lunamoth's Historical Infant Carriers: Swaps out modern baby carriers for fabric slings, suitable for any historical era.
Lunamoth's Rope Pet Leash: Replaces the modern pet leash with a simple rope, making it look more appropriate for historical gameplay.
300yearschallenge's Historical Baby Bath Override: Changes the baby bath seat to a more suitable design, or you can opt for
Sassymissollie's Invisible Infant Bath Seat to remove it entirely.
JaneSimsten's 5 Day Work Week: Choose Your Own Work Hours: Lets you adjust your Sims' work schedules for a more realistic experience.
JaneSimsten's Marksmanship Skill: Adds a marksmanship skill, allowing your Sims to practise shooting and hunting, with the hunted animals available for cooking.
Littlbowbub's Ye Olde Cookbook: Enables your Sims to cook historical dishes, perfect for low-income Sims in older settings.
Basemental's Basemental Drugs: Although mainly known for adding drugs, it’s commonly used for its smoking features, letting your Sims smoke cigarettes and cigars like a proper Victorian gentleman.
MizoreYukii's Children/Toddlers Can Die of Anything: Allows your child Sims to die, useful if your storyline requires it.
Ayoshi's Phone to Notebook Replacement Mod: If phone elimination mods are causing issues, this mod might help. It replaces the mobile phone with a small notebook, which could pass for a mini Bible or an old-fashioned notebook.
JaneSimsten's Extra Cross-Stitch Patterns: Adds historically accurate cross-stitch patterns.
Just started a decade challenge. This will be really useful.
Hello! This is an update of an old set of mine: the Peteran set. You can find the original objects here.
I’m keeping both sets as some of you may like the previous swatches better and as altering download links always creates a mess.
“ Peterans are followers of the Peteran branch of the in-game religion. They believe in a god known as the Watcher, who created them, watches them, and guides them. Unlike Jacobans, Peterans believe the Watcher is kind, loving, and ultimately wants Sims to be happy. “ Wiki
Some objects are unchanged: the urns, stone prayer sculpture and sun burst, you can keep the original files if you already got them.
What’s new?
Some objects from the old set are now matching my new wood palette (10 colors) with better textures. I got rid of the blue and added some red/purple/white fabric instead -> bench, dining table. I did the same with the altar except that I added 10 swatches without the cloth and I separated the candle that you can now find as a new object.
I edited the “Lighting Floor Altar Peteran” from this set, it works off the grid and matches the new wood palette too (10 swatches). I’ll fix my other candles as soon as possible.
New meshes:
A pew, pulpit (needs city living), alcove (three parts), monk statue, monk lighting (needs island living), wood prayer, column (decorative object) and 2 rafters (9 and 17 tiles long).
I hope everything is alright 🤞, have fun and as usual, feel free to tag me when you use my CC ♥ DOWNLOAD (mediafire)

Need to update my downloads! Can’t wait to see the new textures and swatches.
internet safety & the sims community
fun fact: pqsim4′s download links link you DIRECTLY to malicious adware, ransomware, which contain NSFW imagery (porn), as well as riskware, viruses and malware.
please reblog so people are aware of this!!
I’m sick to death of people linking LITERAL VIRUSES with their downloads! what the FUCK is wrong with y’all!
can we get a list going of creators who are still doing this?
pqsim4 & loree-sims4 have earned my frustration today but there are so many more.
@mack3030 can you help spread the word?
PLEASE SHARE THIS AROUND. THIS IS LITERALLY TRASH BEHAVIOR. :K
Proof: All you need to do is hover your cursor over a download link–DO NOT CLICK!!! If you’re using Google Chrome (and most other browsers will probably do this too) you can see where the link leads at the bottom left of your screen.
Those links lead to some ugly invasive shit. Not even Universal Bypass was any good getting to a download link through that. Just to be safe I’m still having Windows scan the computer and my antivirus programs to do the same.
THIS IS NOT OKAY.
**STOP ENABLING CREATORS WHO REQUIRE YOU TO TURN OFF ANTIVIRUS PROTECTION TO GET TO THEIR CUSTOM CONTENT**
Not cool, especially with all the news lately.
How to Change World Names
Hi everyone. I’m retiring my World Name Changer Mod. It only allowed you to change the names of worlds in new saves. Here’s a working method to allow you to change the names of worlds in ANY save game.
1. First, you’ll need Sims4Studio. Open the program, and click My Projects.
2. Navigate to your Saves folder, and select Sims 4 Save (*.save) as your file type.
3. Click Type to sort the list, and choose Save Game Data.
4. In the Data panel on the right, scroll down until you find ‘neighborhoods’ and click Edit Items…
5. Now, choose the Worlds you want to rename. Some are blank, some say ‘Office Site’ but you can ignore those. Rename your worlds under ‘name’, and click Save. When you’re finished, click Save again. Now load up your game and enjoy your renamed Worlds!
SWEET! I have to try this!!
Always wanted to do this -- now I can find the instructions easy... thanks, @midnitetech
Small Update
on the CC chair situation.
Any updates on the cc chairs thing? Was that intended, after all?
SimGuru Nick:
Not intended, the team is still looking to fix it on our side, it’s still being investigated. I know CC creators found a workaround for now, but we’re not expecting you guys to go back and update 6+ years of CC chairs :)

SimGuru Nick added a link to the official bug forum:
One thing to add, if this is an issue for you please go hit Me Too on the Answers HQ thread. This helps give us a better idea of how many unique players are experiencing this issue and helps us better prioritize :)
So PLEASE smash that me too button to get the chairs prioritized for fixing!

SECTIONAL LIBRARY by SSTS
New meshes
Base game compatible
68 items
Polycount: from ~50 to ~1300. All LODs [ where they’re needed ], normal maps, custom icons. The set includes 2 types of usual bookshelves, 2 types of corner bookshelves and 1 corner column [ all for tall, medium and short walls - 15 items in total ], different stackable shelves with and without books [ 26 items, I forgot to make a picture of top type A shelf with books, sorry, but it looks exactly like the one without them ], a big desk, a library steps - and of course some books [ 20 usual ones to decorate the shelves and also 5 piles just in case ]. Shelves and bookshelves are compatible with each other - you just need to adapt to put the higher shelf on the appropriate place of the previous one [ it’s quite similar to how the curtains are hung to the windows in original game ] - so the whole set can be used in a variety of ways to create your perfect library of any height and configuration!
Textures are ALL linked, so I really wouldn’t advise you to remove any files of the set, and of course, package with word MAIN should remain in your Mods folder.
Preview pics are, as usual, pure screenshots 100% from the game - no color edit, no ReShade.
Hope you’ll find this useful - tag me if you do, I’d love to see your screenshots. Happy simming, have fun and don’t forget to read my TOU.

Credits go to all the creators of cc used on the preview pictures.
Now available for everyone HERE [ SFS, no ads ]
So I saw this and now I need to rebuild all sorts of libraries in so many houses where one of the only rooms I finished is the library. I love how flexible it looks and it modular -- which means I can make it fit where I need it!
Good thing I took tomorrow off work.
Padme Picnic Hair and Accessories
I was raised on Star Wars and hoped that the Journey to Batuu pack would have some of Padme’s incredible outfits. Since this wasn’t the case I decided to try to make the outfit she wore during the picnic on Naboo which ended up being more difficult than I was hoping so instead I’m just releasing the hair and hair accessories now with the hope of finishing the dress at some point.
The hair accessory is the band, bun netting and ribbons combined and found in the Glasses category. I made a separate bun netting, also in Glasses, with a few swatches because I thought the hair could pass for Medieval and they loved their nets.
@aharris00britney was kind enough to let me use his Elli Hair as a base and as always a huge thanks to @javitrulovesims for the hair textures because without him there would be one swatch
TOU: Feel free to recolour or edit to your hearts content, just don’t make people pay for it.

Studio updates with Windows & Doors batch fix (Windows, Mac)
Hi all, Studio is updating today with a batch fix for custom windows and doors that were broken by the Star Wars patch. The Windows and Mac versions both have this new feature.
For creators, each version also has a feature that allows you to fix the cutout on any new creation by clicking Tools/Modding/Generate Model Cutout From Wall Cutout Texture after you’re finished importing your new wall cutout texture.
For everyone, please read the notes below.
Select your version of Studio to download HERE
Notes:
When the batch fix runs, it will create a backup folder containing the original version of all files it fixed. Please do not discard this file until you verify that your windows and doors are functioning properly in the game. If you encounter a window or door that did not fix properly, please send us the original and the broken batch-fixed versions so the problem can be investigated.
The game has a small glitch with some round windows that causes a subtle line to appear at the edge of such windows when no wallpaper is on the wall in which the window is placed and the wall is facing a certain direction. EA windows do this too (see pic below), so this is not a problem with the batch fixer, it’s a game issue. You will not notice this line once wallpaper is applied to the wall.
Running the batch fix on a window or door will cause a new resource to appear in the Warehouse view of that file. This resource records the batch fix version that was applied to the file. If you add new broken windows or doors to the same folder in which this file is placed and run the batch fix again, this resource allows Studio to skip over this file instead of fixing it again.
This batch fix took quite awhile to complete because of the immense variety of doors and windows created by our community. Andrew deserves kudos for sticking with this project even when, at times, it seemed impossible to complete.
THANK LITTLE BABY JESUS!!! 😭😭😭
yay!! not that I have any that needs fixing but its good to know its there!
BRIGHTER FOUNDATIONS

This mod is an attempt to fix the old issue of foundations being too dark and their colors never matching anything else.
There’s a darkening gradient applied to all buildings in the game which makes the bottom of walls look darker. It’s there to make them blend in with the environment, I suppose, but that comes at the expense of color fidelity.
What I did was change the darkening amount from 50% to 10%, and now the foundation textures actually match the rest of the textures in the game! What a concept.
Here are some before and afters:
Hope you enjoy! Please let me know if there are any issues :)
I really need to remember to download this.
Buildmode Content Update for Post-Patch 1.66
Windows, doors, and arches have been updated to work with the new cutout system allowing more freedom with window placement. You will need to redownload the sets. I advise deleting the original files, then putting the new files in as i have organised the download folders with a new sub folder.

Yes!!! and just like that my “problem” build has been fixed. :) Thank you so much!! I need to buy you a coffee.

Introducing my new - slimmed down - palette! NikSim Colour Redux consists of nine colours, eight of which you might already know. The ninth colour is Silver which is a less blue-ish alternative to EA’s white. I create these recolours by mixing two EA colours, therefore they are totally maxis-match.
I created recolours for all adult hair styles, eye brows, and facial hairs, including content from updates, the Holiday Celebration Pack, and all EPs, GPs, and SPs. I couldn’t possibly give preview pics for each hair in every colour, but here’s a selection to show you what the colours look like:

A daring plunge gown with a dramatic fur collar. Perfect for any Sorceress who would like nothing more than world domination… or just to look iconic! Comes in 25 colours plus 6 bonus swatches.
I’ve also included an overlay for the fur collar (found under socks). Pair the dress with the gloves from my 1949 collection for that full witchy vibe!
