It is the highest and purest form of liberalism, liberalism freed of its statist taint and stripped back to the core: Liberty, equality, fraternity. The violent destruction of the oppressive State. Perpetual revolution. Chaos and disorder burning the old world to the ground. All this was the promise of the Revolutions, the first and only practice of liberalism qua liberty. Anarchy was very nearly birthed by the guillotine, and its fathers were Jacobin.

What are you talking about, the Jacobin revolutionary terror was the oppressive State in action, they were the first "statist taint" on the liberal tradition (maybe you can say the English Palrimentarians were but they had the crutch of Puritianism)

All active revolution is at least proto-anarchist because it brings chaos into the world. The Revolutionary government of France was anarchist prior to the Thermidorian Reaction; the Terror would have been necessary even in a revolution that ended the other way and tore down the State fully, because an immediate transition to pure anarchy would have simply allowed the French nobility, or one of the enemy powers, to seize power and restore the monarchy. (The English parliamentarians were not anarchists but had some anarchist elements, like the Levellers; that revolution could never have come to real anarchy though.)
