Evil Dead 2 (1987) | 31 Days of Halloween
Day 19: Loved it! I can't believe I've lived my life without seeing this movie until now. I completely lost it at Linda's dancing scene; those claymation effects were fantastic. It was weirdly, perfectly, whimsical.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) | 31 Days of Halloween
Day 18: I've seen this movie a bunch of times, but this was my first live showing, and god what a blast. My friend and I cobbled together our Transylvanian costumes at Goodwill a few hours before and I think it made the Time Warp much more convincing.
Frankenhooker (1990) | 31 Days of Halloween
Day 17: This is exactly what it sounds like. You will not be disappointed.
Sleepaway Camp (1983) | 31 Days of Halloween
Day 16: So much going on in terms of fashion inspiration here. Makes me sad it's too cold outside for cutoffs right now. And we need to bring back the man crop tee, pronto. This movie has kind of a crazy twist that might be offensive? Probably is, but yet again I was drunk when I watched this one so who knows. My main takeaway is that yes, high-waisted shorts are cool and I need to invest in a bandana.
I Was A Teenage Zombie (1987) | 31 Days of Halloween
Day 15: LOVE IT. And the soundtrack is really fuckin good. I was very very drunk when I watched this, so I think I'll have to watch it again before the rental expires.
Audition (1999) | 31 Days of Halloween
Day 14: So this starts out kind of like a romantic comedy, but BOY DO THINGS GO SOUTH. (Spoilers ahead) A widower is convinced by his buddy to hold a sham movie audition as a way to meet women, and he ends up falling for this young woman, Asami. Her past is extremely shady, but he is so taken with her none of that matters, until it turns out she's a goddamn serial killer. I loved that the actress portrayed Asami as a shy, sweet girl who only seems alive and happy when she's torturing someone. It was chilling to see such a cute person be so psychotic and enjoy it.

House on Haunted Hill (1959) | 31 Days of Halloween
Day 13: Mmmm... yes... what an amusing film. Mysterious vats of acid in the basement, close up shots of hysterical women screaming, tiny coffins with guns in them, a skeleton marionette, and a scandalous affair all make for one hell of a party, let me tell you. Vincent Price is a goddamn treasure.
Sweeney Todd (2007) | 31 Days of Halloween
Day 12: Oh man this brings back memories of me and thevultureslove at seventeen. We watched this movie like a billion times, and I even did her hair and makeup like Mrs. Lovett. Still just as good.
Hocus Pocus (1993) | House on Haunted Hill
Day 11: Classic! I don't know what else there is to say except this reminds me of my childhood?
Pontypool (2009) | 31 Days of Halloween
Hellraiser (1987) | 31 Days of Halloween
The Cabin in the Woods (2011) | 31 Days of Halloween
Day 8: After all the B horror I've seen this past week (with the exception of Rebecca and Dumplings), I really needed a palate cleanser, which for me was The Cabin in the Woods. This was a re-watch, but I'm honestly always in the mood to watch this. It's funny, great special effects, interesting concept, well-acted, and has some genuinely scary parts. It's not the kind of scary that will give you nightmares, but I'm cool with that since I'm watching most of these at midnight by myself anyway.
Ghost Shark (2013) | 31 Days of Halloween
Day 7: Here's the scoop, a shark gets killed by these rednecks on a boat, but before it can die it swims into a magic cave that turns it into a ghost shark. It gets its revenge pretty quickly, so most of the movie is the shark popping up wherever there is water and brutally biting people in half. WHEREVER THERE IS WATER. It's pretty goddamn hilarious, Scy Fy at its finest. Easily as good as Sharknado.
31 Days of Horror Day 5
So Katlyn wanted to do a 31 days of Halloween movie-a-thon. I am trying to find mostly things I haven’t seen already but it is hard as I basically only watch horror movies. So here is my review/thoughts of one I watched, the others I’ll just post each day. Mild spoilers for The Conjuring ahead….

Love this movie. I would not recommend watching it alone though, unless you have nerves of steel like thevultureslove. I'm really excited for Annabelle, they have such a great story to work with they better not fuck it up.
Rabid Grannies (1988) | 31 Days of Halloween
Day 6: Rabid Grannies (Les mémés cannibales) is a Belgian horror movie about a pair of cackling aunties who, after being infected with a never explained curse, gleefully tear apart their annoying relatives one by one. It starts slow, with a lot of close talking/yelling by the relatives as they make their way to their aunts' house for their birthday. There's some kind of inheritance plot and a love triangle but nobody cares about that when a rabid granny is stalking the halls of a mansion wearing, I shit you not, a full suit of armor.
