♄ “ Sir Knight!! ”
Her voice echoes down the long corridor, reverberating off the large glass windows and the panes seem to sing; Gralea was gorgeous once, she remembers it from her childhood but being back here now is akin to being in a new place entirely. The only beautiful thing, in her mind, is the armored General– intricate patterns carved into the quietly-humming suit and Evander knows well there’s a man inside, though why he doesn’t show his face she’s uncertain.
The only reason she catches him is because he stops, a kindness on his part and she holds a thin purple ribbon aloft in her right hand. “ A favor, especially from a princess, is said to bring luck. ”
Thin fingers tie the silky lavender strip around his gauntlet. She is sure to make the knot tight, and hopes in silence that he will be careful enough to keep from snagging it on anything. If it doesn’t mean much to him he doesn’t show it, and with the job finished she steps back to appraise her work, a small, soft smile on her lips.
“ I pray it keeps you safe in your travels, however far from the Capitol they take you. ”
Because to show his face would be to reveal his deepest secret, and force loyalties on her that he didn’t want her to bear. Because to reveal himself would be to admit that some part of what ever twisted black lump was left of his heart wanted her safe. He was about to respond before she took his arm, her hands far, far smaller than his hand or arm, and began tying a violet ribbon around it. It was such a tiny thing, so fragile in its beauty.
Much like the girl who’d bestowed it upon him.
Glauca stared down at her for the longest time, before simply inclining his head, baritone voice ringing with its slightly flanged tones,
“My thanks, Princess. It will be kept safe.” Glauca was a creature of few words and fewer actions, but his hand did move to cover the ribbon, acknowledging its presence and its importance.
