I know I shouldn’t do this

Today is ‘text your ex day’. It’s a weird thing where some people use it to get closure, and I know we’re both way past that now. You probably don’t have the same number anymore and you probably moved away so I won’t chance writing a letter.

For the longest time I’ve kept tumblr as a kind of bridge between us. I just wanted to say - from time to time I think of you, wonder how you’re doing and hope you’re doing well. I know that I shouldn’t, only I can’t help but do it.

Now that it’s finally registered and insured, this is my new car.

It is a 1924 Ford Model T Roadster, originally built in America that has been resprayed at some point in it’s life to this nice maroon colour.

I’ll take a couple of photos of it outside when it’s running (it hasn’t been running in probably 20+ years), but the colour looks even better there. I currently have little to no history on this car.

I’m no mechanic but I love to take things apart and tinker until they do work. My good friend and I have been working behind the scenes to try and speed up the process to get it running.

For the best part of four hours I’ve been drawing out the number plate of my new car that I’ve just received today.

I’m doing this rather than getting pressed plates as the car is old enough that hand-painted plates are legal, it should be a lot cheaper to do (although it will take a lot longer) and it should come out looking really good if I do it right.

All I need now is to find someone or somewhere that can cut metal to the sizes I require and then I can paint them and add them onto the car.

This has what my life has become

I spent about 3 hours with degreaser cleaning the engine of my car. It’s not perfect as I used a cloth and a toothbrush, but it’s far better than the 27 years of dirt it’s gathered since it was made. I just hope it all works and nothing sets on fire next time I drive it. It should nearly be ready for the car show it’s entered to be in next month. I’m just waiting for some foam car shampoo to arrive now. Fun times, with a painful back

How do you start collecting cars in the UK?

There are so many cars I have my eye on all the time. The main issue is the unavailability of finding a location to house them.

For instance, I have my eye on an upcoming auction to own a car that is on my bucket list, but I have no-where to put it, and I struggle finding anywhere to do so.

I have to keep letting these cars go whenever they come up because of this.

Options (or so it seems)

1. Move out of the UK for somewhere that has more availability in terms of garage space

2. Get a massive pay rise or something to buy a place (good luck)

3. Keep missing out on completing a life goal

I have a numismatist problem (sorry). This Roman numeral (to me) reads “mdcccxxxb” but this isn’t a number. My thoughts are that the final letter could be a v, but I’m not entirely sure. Can anyone tell me what number this is? Thanks

This is my new car. New being 27 years old and technically a classic. It’s super fun to drive!

Sorry for the angles, maybe I’ll take new ones once I’ve done what I want to with the plates.
