Glen Road Systems, Inc. (GRSI) is an industry leading distribution center automation and integration company. GRSI's solutions are powered by its robust FastTrak WM+ (warehouse management plus) software suite, which consists of a WMS (warehouse management system), WCS (warehouse control system), OMS (order management system), and PI (packaging integration) system. The goal of every system is to increase flow and throughput; improve order accuracy; streamline operations and processes; decrease labor, freight, and material costs; and automate labor intensive activities. Many Fortune 500 companies have looked to GRSI to implement proven warehouse software systems that are backed by world class 24x7x365 live support. Solutions range from straighforward to extremely complex warehouse systems.
Cold seal technology capable of packaging over 1,000 orders per hour. This technology considerably increases order throughput and reduces labor. Orders are automatically fed through the machine where they are wrapped and sealed with a packaging material of the user’s choice. Materials include bubble, rigid board, and film/paper laminate.
FastTrak Warehouse Control System makes it easy to track and trace items through the most complex supply chains. It provides flexible options to mark, covert mark, and uniquely identify each item passing through a warehouse and subsequent supply chain activities.
FastTrak automatically organizes items by calculating optimal and convenient picking scenarios based order statistics, item velocity, and other user-defined criteria. This process greatly improves picking productivity by reducing “walk-labor” or machine picking times.
GRSI FastTrak OMS and WCS controls many types of picking and putting technologies. The following video displays GRSI's capabilities using pick/put lights.
Picking systems provide very smooth and efficient operations if implemented correctly. GRSI integrates picking systems with its FastTrak OMS batch and wave and dynamic slotting systems to improve picking processes. Orders can be batched based on many factors including packaging type, quantity of items per order, final destination, size, and others.
FastTrak Order Management System (OMS) organizes orders for efficient and accurate picking— combining both operator and automation-based fulfillment methods. Features such as waving, batching, and cartonization are standard mechanisms used to optimize the fulfillment process. The FastTrak OMS has a full range of inventory management features to control putaway, storage, and pick location replenishment. Additionally, a wide range of methods for resource optimization are included. Targeted resources include automation equipment, material handlers, storage media, and diverse warehouse vehicle types.
FastTrak Warehouse Control System provides comprehensive controls for all types of conveying, sorting, and routing equipment. FastTrak Warehouse Control System communicates information received from sensors and scanners with the client’s host and shipping software. Subsequently, it communicates information to the appropriate PLC to rapidly sort and route packages with total accuracy. Packages can be sorted to its appropriate shipping carrier bin or sent to an exception lane. Solutions utilize touch screen operated human machine interfaces (HMIs), display alert notifications, monitor systems operations, and display maintenance oriented inquiries and reports. FastTrak ensures that conveyors operate smoothly and allows convenient control via HMIs placed in different areas of the warehouse.
FastTrak Warehouse Control System coordinates, controls, automates, and monitors material handling equipment and fulfillment methods. When combined with an existing host system, it acts a middleware that facilities communication between the host and all warehouse equipment using a single-port connection.
GRSI can use printer applicators, handheld, and desktop printers to create labels. Printer applicators automatically print and apply labels to achieve rapid throughput rates. Handheld and desktop printers (thermal, laser, or inkjet) are less expensive but require manual application, making them ideal for lower volume applications or application on irregular shaped material. Printed labels can be top or side applied to a range of substrates including cardboard, paper, plastic, film and others. FastTrak Warehouse Control System software communicates with the host and shipping systems to gather necessary label information, generates its own label information, or triggers an auto-generating label printer. FastTrak Warehouse Control System stores label information and scans it for association/verification. FastTrak Warehouse Control System can simultaneously communicate with multiple print and apply labeling printers to achieve high throughput.
Cartonization is the method of using SKU and order data with business rules to make improved packaging decisions. Systems are designed to lower costs, increase order accuracy and revenues, and achieve rapid throughput. GRSI reviews the associated costs, benefits, and sustainability of many packaging options with the client to create the best Cartonization solution possible.
