What is the best time for paragliding in Bir?
When I first planned my trip to Bir Billing, I had the same question in mind – “When is the best time to go for paragliding?” Honestly, the answer depends a lot on what kind of flying experience you want.
Spring (March – June): This is one of the most popular seasons. The skies are usually clear, the thermals are stronger, and you can enjoy longer flights. For someone who wants to feel the real thrill of gliding across valleys and riding the warm air currents, this is the perfect time.
Autumn (September – November): Personally, I loved flying during October. The weather is pleasant, visibility is amazing, and the mountains look stunning with post-monsoon freshness. Many professional pilots also prefer this season because the wind conditions are stable and safe for both beginners and experienced flyers.
Winter (December – February): Not many people know this, but winter flying has its own charm. The snow-covered peaks in the distance and the crisp mountain air make it magical. Flights are usually shorter because thermals are weaker, but the views are something you’ll never forget.
Monsoon (July – August): This is generally avoided because of unpredictable weather and heavy clouds. Still, Bir remains open, but most operators don’t recommend flying unless the conditions are safe.
So if you’re asking about the “best” time, I’d say October and November stand out the most. The air is calm yet strong enough for good flights, and the landscapes are at their absolute best. But honestly, each season gives a different kind of memory — it depends whether you want thrill, long flights, or just peaceful scenic glides.
