Friendly reminder of why you shouldn’t exclude allies from pride!

Some people can only indulge in LGBT events as “allies” because they are closeted and/or in a situation where it is unsafe for them to outwardly present their identity

LGBT circles should be a safe and accepting environment for anyone and everyone as long as individuals are respectful

Some people are still growing and don’t neccessary know what they identify as yet. Some people try to indulge in LGBT events to learn more, not only about the community, but about themselves. How are people meant to discover where they can exist comfortably if they are shunned at their starting point? Many, if not most, queer people once were told/thought that they were cishet. A lot of people start there. Don’t deny them the opportunity to explore the freedom of love and identity that should be available to them

Some queer people date or are married to cishet people and would like to bring their significant others to pride events. They should be allowed to do so

The only people who should be unwelcome at pride events are those who spread hate or manipulate their “alliance” to the community as a means of self promotion
