My favorite grocery store cashier died a few months ago. I know this probably sounds like a bizarre thing to be sad about. Her name was Judith and I only saw her once or twice a week, and only while I was paying for groceries. But even now, months later, I think of her when I'm at the grocery store. She used to save the ends of receipt paper rolls when they only had a foot or two left on them and give them to me, which I never asked her to do, but the first time she did it she held one out to me and said "you look like someone who would make a craft out of this," and I laughed because she was right. I do save them to put in geocaches and letterboxes. Our small talk was about the weather and the weekend and aren't those cookies good? They're so expensive though. But it's worth it.
I'm just saying. If you ever sit around wondering whether you'd be missed if you disappeared off the face of the earth, the answer is probably yes, very much, and probably by more people than you think.
this is true. from the cashier end we might not know much about you, but kindness sticks. I remember my regulars, I have mourned people, I have held others while they cried. I have celebrated their wins and watched them grow.
we don't have to be best friends for me to care about your wellbeing. if you're kind - even if you're shy, quiet, not interested in a chat, that's fine.
we remember kindness.
we remember you.
Guess i'm gonna midnight navel gaze again (i'll never grow out of it) but one thing i really don't show gratitude for enough is the fact that i have some really really fantastic regular customers at work that genuinely make my day better to see, and they often say the same. people who care about me in that sort of odd amorphous way that you cannot define as a friendship, but neither are they a stranger. was reminded of how lucky i am to experience that sort of human caring when i got to share the story of my infinity ring with her and she started crying about it. "congratulations on your love". what a beautiful statement.
Society is collapsing in front of us, but almost daily I am given small sparks of hope for humanity in general.
BE KIND, AND GIVE LOVE, RECKLESSLY. NEVER WITHHOLD IT.

I love watching people read these books for the first time
i have seen gay porn less homoerotically charged than whatever the fuck they were doing in that hyundai civic
it was the odyssey. the civic could never handle that kind of action.

This is not anthropomorphization but genuinely something theyre known to do. I've heard divers say octopuses and cuttlefish get fascinated by hand gestures and will sometimes respond to them like. We probably do look like we have little cephalopods on the ends of our arms, to them. Like we're always putting on a puppet show.
ive heard enough stories of octopuses attempting to socially interact w humans to be convinced that some octopuses want to socially interact w humans
frustrated how quickly people will trip over themselves to dismiss any notion of animal thought as "anthropomorphization" as if animals are truly thoughtless lumps of meat who simply move their limbs around meaninglessly and die
precocious adult behavior
"the gayest scene in deadpool and wolverine is the honda hate fuck" WRONG! the gayest scene is when they save the world through the power of handholding and madonna
Guys did I ever tell you about the time I completely accidentally ruined a professionally made campaign for Dungeons and Dragons thanks to a single roll
Please explain
Ok so we had to fight our way to the bottom of a castle to stop a group of cultists from summoning an Orc god to the world and we got there and the ritual was already going so I ran up to the god, who had already begun to manifest, and cast Finger of Death, which kills any target I touch if they fail a Fortitude roll. Since he was a god, he had a good constitution and would have certainly survived
Except the DM rolled a 1
and the god exploded
Honestly this is the best addition I’m gonna get to this post so thank you
