The live-TV interpreter who said "Sag mal, wie lange wollt ihr bei dem ScheiĂ bleiben?!" has made a statement. I admire him hugely for not apologizing for what he said, or even technically retracting it, at any point in this statement. Instead, he takes the opportunity to make a jab at Trump's inability to put a reasonable sentence together:

I didn't think I'd have the energy to make a translation, but what the heck, I guess I will.
Background for the non-Germans: a German professional interpreter was live-interpreting the TV broadcast of the Trump inauguration when he suddenly broke off in the middle of his interpreting and said loudly, "Tell me, how long do we have to watch this shit?!"
Of course they immediately cut his mic after that, but it was too late :D
Anyway here's my rough translation of the article excerpt above:
Interpreter Frank Deja, who committed this faux pas, has now made a statement. "I could have sworn I'd muted myself. However, in the heat of the moment, it appears I pressed the wrong button. We interpreters have what's known as a 'cough cut' button on the interpreter console, which we can use to briefly mute ourselves. Then, whatever we say next doesn't get broadcasted â and obviously that sentence wasn't supposed to be broadcasted," he explained to n-tv. His exclamation is not intended to be understood as a political statement. "No, that's not it at all. The political content is not the problem," says Deja, adding, "I often interpret for people whose politics I don't agree with. The problem with Trump was that he suddenly started free-associating or saying the same thing three times in a row. Following these incoherent mental leaps is quite a challenge for an interpreter." He explains: "When a speaker presents their thoughts in an organized way, the interpreter can more or less guess where each new sentence is going as soon as it's begun. You can surf that wave. But with Trump, this is impossible."

i wanna see more stories with a time skip epilogue where at least one character has clearly transed their gender and it isnt really remarked upon. bonus if none of them were remotely hinted to be trans until that moment because i think it'd be funny to watch a fandom react to that. your blorbo's happily ever after involves being a woman. dont worry about it.
"In another world" "in another life" no I refuse to accept that thought process actually. this is the only one I have and I want it in this one
Tabloids for the Project Hail Mary mission, c. 20xx. (The Sunday Times, The Times Magazine.)
incredibly bizarre and confusing seeing ppl call themselves "chuds" all the sudden b/c like
thats what we call neo nazis and shitty conservative bros? or at least its what we used to call them? why are ppl calling themselves "chuds" affectionately now
what is happening
yall know chud means fascist right like please tell me yall know that
im hoping this is a case of "younger folks on the internet adopting Silly Word b/c its Silly and not realizing it actually means something"
so here's me educating! you're calling yourselves fascists! thats what you're doing! maybe don't do that and use your head before you start using every goofy word you see!
let me be agonizingly clear
when you call yourself and your friends "chuds"
YOU
ARE
CALLING
YOURSELF
A
NAZI
Me: I don't know. I just don't think there's much comedic potential to the idea of a "pizza samurai"
PIzza Samurai, entering physical existence due to the sheer willpower which I still spend thinking about him: I will defeat you with my New York Style martial arts PepperĆnin, also real now: Prepare to get sliced
the thing about Tangled is that this is a story geared towards little girls (even if it's "fun for the whole family," it's a disney princess movie, it's geared towards little girls), and it says, "here is a girl who is naive and doesn't know anything about the 'Real World' or how to navigate it safely and correctly. now pay close attention: the good guys are the ones who help her grow and explore new things while still respecting her own perspective and feelings, not making her feel stupid. the bad guys are the ones who tell her that she is too weak/immature/naive to do the things she wants to do, because she is fragile and needs protecting." and I watched this when I was nine years old and it resonated deep in a part of me that I couldn't articulate with words yet.
letâs talk about how they made it impossible to function without a phone and digitalised everything and then turned around and went âactually! these phone things arenât safe for kids but itâs magically ok once youâre eighteen. guess youâll have to have your life dictated by your parents now lol cause weâre gonna take the devices away from you. ITâS FOR YOUR OWN GOOD WHY ARE YOU COMPLAININGâ
ok my apologies. take away my ability to buy anything too ig because these fuckass stores donât accept cash anymore. take away my ability to communicate with people outside my house and school because I canât text and I canât email and I cant drive to them either and I canât even fucking get public transport without a phone either. canât order at a fucking restaurant without being asked to get a membership and install an app and also very sorry but you can only order through our online menu now! have you ever considered that itâs not just about instagram?
huge fan of everything going on in this image

5001 being divisible by 3 doesnt feel right
Shortcuts to determine if an integer is divisible by:
This is a given.
If the last digit is divisible by 2 (a.k.a. even), then so is the whole number.
If the sum of the digits is divisible by 3, then so is the whole number. The recursivity of this means that if the sum has multiple digits, you can add them up again until you get a single digit and see if it's 3, 6, or 9.
Like the rule for 2, but check if the last two digits are divisible by 4.
If it ends in 5 or 0.
If the rules for both 2 and 3 apply.
No shortcut. Alas.
Like the rules for 2 and 4, but check if the last three digits are divisible by 8. (Yes, this pattern keeps going for 16, 32, etc.)
Like the rule for 3, but the sum of the digits (or the sum of the sum of the digits, etc.) must be 9.
If it ends in 0.
Watched a video where someone found a recording of local radio coverage of the Moon landing and it's so weird listening bc
now you only really see the moment of and don't realize it was an hours long protracted event with plenty of dead time to fill. At one point they just start listing off famous ships to waste time when nothing was happening
there were ads? They had to incorporate ad breaks? Not only that but actual, moon landing themed ads that segue in from the coverage. Hearing an ad that starts "the world is watching three men traveling on a mission - but every day, America's truckers travel the roads on a mission - feeding a nation..." in the exact tone of those modern commercials that are like "this SUPER BOWL, let's honor real heroes, our FIRST RESPONDERS"
Happy moon landing day
The video...
...and the uncut coverage
A rare bit of radio coverage of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Commercials and Station ID's intact.
