Who are you anon and why do you want angst and feels??
It was as fresh in her memory as if it had happened yesterday.
Anna sat silently on the bed in her sisterās guest room. She stared at the wall, but in truth, she wasnāt staring at anything. A small box sat on her lap, and she was looking for the strength to open it.
It was going to have to be sooner or later. Elsa was going to call her to eat soon. Anna pried the box open, afraid of the sharpness of the sting of what was inside.
The box was made of cardboard, and she remembered the day she had taken a plain shoe box and covered it with glue and printed paper. She had scribbled across the top Anna Arendelle in cursive letters.
She lifted the top and set it aside. She bit her lip, trying to hold herself together. She reached inside and pulled out a stack of photographs, aged with time, of a vibrant redhead and surly blond.
Photos from the first dance they went to together, photos of the summer she begged her parents to agree to let them go on a road trip alone, photos of Anna sitting on the curb of their street, photos of Kristoff working on his truck. Photos of his dog, Sven, before the fur around his muzzle had turned white.
Anna looked inside the box, there was a dried corsage from her senior Prom. Ticket stubs from their first date. Something heavy rolled in the box and Anna picked it upā she had completely forgotten, his class ring.
They had grown distant in their years following high school, and eventually split when Kristoff took a job across the country. Anna was always sure heād come back, that things would work out the way they were supposed to.
She had barely gone on a date with anyone after him. She was sure they would work their differences out.
But she knew it was too late, after all this time, when she had received an invitation in the mail. It was postmarked from Kristoffās parentās house. Her heart had pounded as sheād opened it, afraid it was a wedding invitation, but instead, it was much worse. It had been an invitation to his memorial.
She looked at a photo of the two of them sitting in a restaurant, her curls rolling down her back, and his hair still shaggy and in his eyes. She smiled and wiped a tear off her cheek. He had made some of the happiest memories of her life. She just couldnāt believe he was gone so soon.
She held the photo to her chest,Ā āI love you. I have always loved you.ā
Elsa stepped into the doorway,Ā āEverything alright? I called but didnāt get an answer, everyoneās waiting downstairs to eat. Are you coming?ā
Anna slipped the photo into her pocket and nodded.
