Alec frowned, feeling like he had done something wrong as Magnus broke their contact. 

He then listened intently to what Magnus was saying. “ So.. we start to date?” He asked, not sure how this might go now that they are already married.”Or.. mate..” He had a faint idea of what was about to come to him, Izzy sometimes talked about this and before they left his mom pulled him aside and had a weird cringy topic about sex, mating and all of this. Alec had mostly put it off. It was weird talking with his parents about sex.”But yes, if one way doesn’t work out we can still be friends.” He said, putting his hand on Magnus leg, out of relfex and just because he wanted to touch the other one. “I’d really like that.

Dating his husband - that sounded funny. The warlock’s lips quirked at the side and he moved closer to Alexander. 

“Dates would be a nice first. Especially if this is your only relationship. I want to give you all the typical firsts - at least the ones that we can.” His hand moved back to his husband’s and he took it in his. “I’m not sure what your cycle is like but I’ll have to spend your heat with you. I think it would be easiest if we mated then if it’s okay with you.”

Madzie is beautiful and powerful and omg she saved Alec but poor bb went on a murder spree. I hope Catarina can help heal the inevitable scars that come from all of this nonsense.

I’m glad the sibling plot is over and hope they don’t intend to stretch it out with Jace keeping up the lie so we can have more gross Climon and more grossness when she inevitably finds out and drops Simon’s ass.

What’s with this weird Aldertree loves Izzy thing? What is this? Why are we doing this? And can we not? And exactly how old is she supposed to be? And another thing - okay I’ll stop.

Also ACE RAPHAEL THANK YOU JESUS. I was hoping for aro ace because relationship drama is so trite and I was hoping they would give him something more interesting but I’ll take hetero/bi/panromantic asexual as well. Baby steps I guess. But he’s so painfully out of character I don’t even know if I can call him my son anymore. Raphael may be a snarky little shit but he cares about his family and about his people. He died rather than save his own life and hurt Magnus. Like for fucks sake show why would he then have Izzy alienate herself from her family, not tell her when said family was in danger and frantically calling her, then go up to her afterwards all smiles and romance after members of his clan (and probably important ones) were just massacred? Raphael actually cares about his clan but apparently show!Raphael dgaf. Also that shit they pulled with Raphael leading the charge then escaping off screen and popping back up like it was nothing is lazy af. I’m calling shenanigans.

Real talk. Once again they did Maia dirty. And she didn’t kill literally everyone so I have no forgiveness in my heart. They best not drop all this shit just because crisis averted and the Shadowhunters only lost red shirts. Like they killed Alaric fam - that shit isn’t okay. Meliorn was basically us tonight I think: “I’ll never forgive you for this”

Alec looked up at him surprised and not knowingn how to react. “What?” He asked, trying not to laugh. “I.. I have never had someone.. or will have probably. I.. I’m loyal.. One type kind of guy.But.. I mean.. It’s fine.. “ He said, stammering and blushing. “But if you.. well.. Have someone or want to have someone.. That’s fine..” He then blinked and stared at Magnus. “Mate? Oh..  yes..” He nodded, calling himself  in his thoughts stupid. Of course they had to mate, pretending and showing a perfect family. And Alec found he didn’t really mind, his mind wandering to the question how Magnus and his children look like and couldnt help but smile fondly. 

He was surprised to hear the other man hadn’t ever had someone in his life. He wasn’t sure how gender dynamics were handled in Idris, but it wasn’t uncommon for higher class families to shelter their omegas here. Still, a vast majority at least had experienced some form of puppy love if not the real thing behind their overprotective parents’ backs. Magnus nodded in returned, letting go of his husband’s hand to put a bit of distance between them. This was a serious topic and he didn’t want to assert any influence over Alec’s decisions, consciously or unconsciously. 

“Well I’ve never mated anyone - obviously - but I’ve had girlfriends, boyfriends, others.” Magnus leaned against the bed post as he considered how much to reveal. “I’m willing to give this a real go if you are. And if we aren’t compatible in that way I hope we can at least be friends. We’re stuck with one another for life it seems.”

“I don’t know..” Alec admitted. “I.. I’m sure I can be comfortable with time and about certain things?” He offered moving his hand with his palm up so they were holding hands technically. “W..What do you want to do? And.. what do you expect this life to be?” He asked, curiously, this was also a way to get to know Magnus a little better. He began liking the other one, because he was so understanding.

The warlock loudly released the breath he didn’t realize he was holding and squeezed Alec’s hand. Why couldn’t his new husband just be horrible and every terrible thing he had expected? That would make this much easier and clear cut.

“Honestly... I always knew I had to get married but I was hoping I had at least another 150 years. I wasn’t seeing anyone so it’s not like I have someone I’m pining after. So if we can make this work...” Magnus trailed off, realizing that was a selfish thing to ask. “But I understand if you don’t want to, or if you have someone already. It would be complicated but it’s not unheard of for these types of marriages to be in name only, with both partners being free to give their heart to others. As long as that other person can accept that you and I have to mate I don’t see why you couldn’t have a consort.”

Alec saw the others expression falter and blinked. Why should Magnus be against his sister? He felt even more confused as he thought about this over and over.

Normally Alec would have hated it when soemeone started talking to him before he had his first cup of coffee and his family was well aware of that but somehow Magnus was different, Alec felt he didn’t mind at all. “Yeah..” He just said and nodded. “Things to discuss? What kind of?” He felt a weird feeling bubbling up in his stomach, like when his parents wanted to talk about something he’d done wrong.

Magnus flushed a bit, not expecting that Alexander wouldn’t understand. That made things a bit... awkward. Magnus put down his tea cup and moved to sit beside Alexander on the bed.

“There are things that will be expected of us, both as a married couple and as an alpha and omega. I understand neither of us chose this, and I won’t do anything you don’t feel comfortable with.” Magnus reached out to place a hand on Alexander’s.

Alec growled and sat swiftly up to give Izzy a piece of his mind. “Izzy god…” He went bright red and stopped in mid sentence. “Oh.. uhm.. y.. you are not Izzy.” He said and brushed through his hair. “S.. Sorry..” He looked around. “I.. I should probably get out of bed.. I don’t usually sleep .. this late.. Oh. Coffee..” He exclaimed, eyes bright and he looked around. “Just a few minutes.” He said and moved into the bathroom to adjust himself to this new environment he woke up in . In the morning everything looked different than at night but Alec still felt some despair. He used the toilet, washed his face and then went back to Magnus, instantly pouring himself a cup of coffee, sitting on the bed again and inhaling the sweet scent with closed eyes. 

Izzy? Magnus wondered for a moment who that was, wondered if that was someone Alexander was used to waking up next to. He hadn’t even  considered that maybe his husband had been seeing someone before being forced into this marriage. The alpha’s expression turned grim for a moment but he took care to make his face carefully neutral while Alec was in the bathroom.

By the time he returned Magnus was sipping a cup of tea and half way through one of his favorite pastries. He looked over to Alexander as he poured himself coffee and cleared his throat. “I thought we’d maybe stick to exploring the castle and grounds today. There’s quite a bit to show and I don’t want to overwhelm you. Plus we have a lot we should discuss... in private probably.”
